The queer Regency era romance I never knew I needed.
The characters were so lovable and well written, they practically leapt off the page.
Perfect for fans of Bridgerton but definitely best for a younger audience. Still very enjoyable though!
Was a really lovely sample. The little sneak peak of the graphic novel tells me that I’m going to really enjoy the full length book.
This was absolutely wonderful, I'm heartbroken this was only a sample but I know I'll grab a copy as soon as I see it. Bridgerton meets A Marvellous Light
I adored reading this! This felt like such an interesting story, felt really immersed in the world and in the lives of these characters.
This story follows three unconventional "girls" - Eleanor, who is a typical middle class regency girl, except she just can't imagine herself with a husband; Charlotte, Eleanor's cousin, and a young black lady living on the charity on her uncle and wanting to marry well to not be a burden on anyone; and George, who prefers male and androgynous clothing to frilly dresses and is in line to inherit their father's entire estate when they become of age.
Since this was a sampler, I didn't get to read the whole story, but from what I read, there is some great LGBTQ+ representation as well as some well written characters that immediately drew me in.
I really enjoyed reading this and want to pick up my own copy (which is already ordered!) - would recommend this for fans of Bridgerton/regency romances who want a queer story/characters to focus on.
Absolutely gorgeous sampler. The artwork was beautifully rendered. I was so into the story I didn’t realise I’d gotten to the end of the sampler and I was heartbroken. I will definitely have to pick this up on pay day. I need to know what happens next for our dear George!
An excellent taster that has left me wanting more - and such beautiful illustrations! I look forward to seeing the finished piece.
What a fun story and set of characters! I love a slice of life style graphic novel, and this definitely hits that. Kind of a queer, regency Cranford? Really excited to read more - definitely one for my Christmas list, and a book I will recommend as a gift!
Loved this sampler since I saw the cover and can't wait to read the whole book as it's cute, humorous, and compelling
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
I Shall Never Fall in Love would be the result if Bridgerton and Heartstopper had a baby as it explores relationships and identity in a similar way to Heartstopper and captures the regency vibes of Bridgerton. I really enjoyed the art style and illustrations as they really enhanced the story. There was a good amount of text on the page as it wasn't overwhelming but also the story moved along at a good pace.
I didn't find myself very invested in the romance plot or the characters individual storylines so I'm not sure I would want to read the full version however I am grateful for the chance to have read this sampler.
This is a very good sampler for this graphic novel! I really enjoyed the art, it was really beautiful and helped tell the story. I also loved how cute the story was and I was invested throughout. I can't wait to read more!
I Shall Never Fall In Love was somewhat like Heartstopper and Bridgerton had a baby. The sampler was a glorious look at the opening of Conner's queer historical graphic novel, and I can't wait to pick up the full book when it releases, to see if Eleanor and George find their way to each other!
This is a very good sampler for this graphic novel! I really enjoyed the art and the cute story within, I was invested though and now I can't wait to read more. A little different than my usual reads and very fun none the less!
Great first sample, can't wait to read more! Easily going to be a feature on TikTok very soon!

This sampler of Hari Conner's I Shall Never Fall In Love suggests it will be a sweet and fun graphic novel. The layout and style is very Heartstopper, but this is historical Heartstopper, as Conner plays with tropes from Regency England. I immediately adored George, who is non-binary/trans and struggling with their feelings for best friend Eleanor as well as how the world perceives them. Eleanor didn't capture my heart in the same way and I found myself more invested in George's journey than in their romance. While loving the diversity of this opening, I always get a little puzzled about how far stories like these relate to reality. I'm totally fine if authors just want to throw all history out the window and do Jane Austen cosplay, but George's struggles, plus the mention of slavery abolition campaigns via the viewpoint of Charlotte, a black woman, suggests that Conner does want to deal with some more serious issues here, and I'm not sure how this will sit with the lightheartedness of the narrative. I think this will have massive appeal to fans of queer YA, though, and I'd be interested to see how it develops.
I really enjoyed reading this graphic novel and I’m so excited to read the next chapters! The graphics were beautiful and the story is very interesting and well written. I don’t read a lot of graphic novels but when I read them I always enjoy them 🥰
I’ve only read a sampler (30 pages) but I absolutely LOVED it!
A stunning Regency period graphic novel filled with drama, emotion & love.
It’s gorgeous! I adore George, Eleanor & Charlotte and their friendship. They made me smile, laugh and I even felt a little sad but I’m now dying to know how it ends!!
This isn’t the greatest review ever but I’ll be buying myself a copy so I can find out how their journeys end and if there is indeed love in their future! ♥️
I’ve not read many graphic novels, but this has made me want to pick up more and add to my growing list of favourite genres etc ..
The graphics are exquisite too! Comical & cute, perfectly expressing the atmosphere and emotions. I love it all.
And yes, I love the trans & lgbtqia rep especially in a historical graphic novel!
I can’t thank you enough Simon and Schuster Children’s UK, for the arc sampler via Netgalley.
This story was incredible, and I am already itching to read more!
Historical fiction is always hit-and-miss with me, even with queer characters added, but I found that this was one that I would love to finish.
I hope everything works out for George, Eleanor and Charlotte! I am so excited for this release now!
This was such a cute read. I haven't read many comic style books but it was enjoyable and easy to follow. I recommend it to other readers.
❤️ Thank you to netgalley, the author and publisher for my arc ebook copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This is my most anticipated graphic novel of the year, so I was excited to get to read the first few chapters. It was off to a really promising start for me, further cementing my 5 star prediction. I was immediately drawn in by the characters and the art work, and I can't wait to get a copy and continue.
