I absolutely loved Children of Blood and Bone, so much so that I’ve recommended it to friends and family and repeatedly on my social media profiles. Now, reading an interview with the author through this text feels truly fantastic!

This book captivated me with its rich storytelling and vibrant world-building and left a lasting impression that I couldn’t help but share. It is highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable fantasy read.

I love these Book Club Kits and especially the ones that include an interview with the author. I am impressed with how well thought out these book club kits are. They always include really great extras, like the videos and the bookmarks. I think they're a great resource for a book club to use. The included discussion questions are perfect for encouraging deeper exploration of the book's characters and themes, and I loved how Netgalley began including this in request. This was really thorough and and included so many extras, it really impressed me. I absolutely loved Children of Blood and Bone and I think this Book Club Kit is excellent! The questions are thought provoking, the downloadable bookmarks are beautiful, I loved the test to find out what clan you are part of. The recommendations for other books was also on point.

This was really cool to look at. As a bookseller, it was cool to look at the material as someone who will be selling and promoting the book. As a fan of the book, it was also engaging to see the activities (loved the Maji Clan quiz)! Overall really cool.

A tyrannical King rules a magical kingdom where magic is outlawed. If they find you with the trait of it in your hair or on your person, you will be at best labelled and branded as a Maggot, worst hanged for your heritage. The land has been ravaged by ethnic cleansing of Maji , those who escaped are in hiding. Not only they have to hide but learn to control their powers so as not to have an unwanted outburst and get on the Monarchs hit list.
Zelie is barely scraping by with her brother and elderly father, after her mother has been hanged and her heritage covered up with hair dye she tries to get enough to pay her always increasing taxes by selling fish in the market when she is forced to rescue and hide the crown princess who just dodged her father, who killed her chambermaid who has found a relic that can amplify magical abilities within the castle walls and has been apprehended for it. Not only is she running from her father but also from her brother who is hanging onto every word of his fathers, eager to please.
They set out to chase a legend of 3 relics to awaken magic and has to outwit everyone who crosses their way.
A very pleasant nod to the prequel to hunger games, and if you have enjoyed this I recommend reading Sing me to Sleep and via versa.
As a practitioner myself I absolutely loved the culture and the way they described magic.
I was hooked from the beginnning with ther line of ; ~ I teach you to be warriors in the garden so you will never be gardeners in the war.'
A solid 4 star book and I will be continuing on with the series.
