My rating is based on this being for younger readers. Sci-fi, child gamer fantasy story. I’m an adult, and I realised, while I could see my younger self in Chip’s computer game playing urge, this book is meant for readers far younger than me. Chip just wants to get to level 20, but parental needs - eat dinner now! - are impacting on his available game time. In the fervour to finish Chip seems to enter the game he is so familiar with. (Don’t know if entering the game is meant to be real or just in his imagination.) Can he complete the game and escape? Or will the multitude of game bosses standing in his way put paid to this. Again, as an adult the first third of the book is too full of game level description for me, but younger gamers will definitely feel at home. Thank you to KDP and NetGalley for the ARC.
