Mr Scribbley: A Trip to the Seaside is the second beautifully done children's book from Y.J. Toner with wonky characters and absolutely filled with whimsy and seaside fun. Released 4th Sept 2024, it's 17 pages and is available in ebook format. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout.

The prose is accessible and written in a fun free verse which will have the littles chanting along with Mr. Scribbley, making a list of items for a beach trip, finding his supplies, and enjoying the seaside with Sat Nav and Worm. Not everything goes to plan, however, and Scribbley and pals (Sat Nav is his dog, and Worm, his... worm assistant) are soon having adventures and hijinks.

The art is full of whimsy and details which invite a closer look. Despite being a very *fun* book, there are good takeaways about reading and following instructions, planning carefully and carrying out plans, as well as the importance of friends and having fun.

The language and slang are British English. It shouldn't pose any problems in context for readers from the USA, but it is noticeable (tiddly, plopped (UK for "pooped"), deckchairs, and a few others).

Four and a half stars. The art and story are delightful.

I enjoyed this read very much. Y.J. Toner has such a fun imagination when it comes to children's fantasy stories.

I love all the characters and Sat Nav keeps Mr. Scribbley from getting lost and out of trouble.

I'm looking forward to Mr.Scribbley's next adventure. I wonder where it will be?

The story was fun and adorable. It was a fun quick read. The illustrations that were in the book added to the fun of what was going on.

This is such a delightful series. I’m sure little ones will love the repetition of some words. Storytellers will love all the characters and their voices. It’s just the right length of read for bedtime -not too long. I could imagine adding in extra items to reflect my grandchildren’s days at the seaside. Another splendid addition. I read have read and enjoyed other [author, Yvonne Toner children’s stories. So I thank you for another a trip to the wibble-wobble world. This trip was to the seaside town of ‘Squiggle-Doodle Upon the Sea”! Doesn't the name sounds like fun?

In addition to the enjoyable prose the illustrations are great as well!

I read a lot of thrillers so is it always fun to escape to the world of children’s magic.
As a grandma as well as I guidance counselor, I do enjoying reading children's stories so that I can recommend to other grandmas or their parents as Mr. Scribbley is always doing something fun.

I love this series of books and I’m so glad there is a new one as Mr Scribbley, Worm and Sat nav are such fun characters and I love the stories and the graphics that go with it. These are beautiful books for children or those of us who are young at heart.
