Eh, it was okay. Not the best "dark" romance I've ever read but also not the worst. I needed the main characters to go to a communications seminar and then possibly therapy.

I did enjoy this book. I like Ethan and Sofia and their relationship. I found it a little slow paced and repetitive at times but overall the story was enjoyable but I was not so keen on the cliffhanger ending.

first off I have to say I love this author and I have pretty much have read her grocery shopping list. She blends mystery and romance and presents unique stories.
I will say I feel I started a bit bitter as my last book was CEO of a department store - poor woman needing a job and ended up with a 1 star so to my suprise I got hit with the same plot.
I will say this was WAYYY better.
I will also say the parts that took me out of the story (and this is a me thing for sure) is the repetive mention of consent but i came off in a wierd way like i will do insane things to your body.. if you let me . and the true statement from the book (which may differ as i did an ARC) repeted nearly word for word 5 times in a row nearly every few pages and it could have been presented in a less awkward moment. I love my Dalton boys/family and I need more of them.
I feel I am not sold on the story as it was more of a build up to the story so for me it falls into a meh type of way but I anticiapte the next book being a knock out of the park.

My Enemy, My Obsession by Lisa Renee Jones is a tantalizing start to the Dalton Family series, blending romance, suspense, and a touch of drama that keeps readers engaged from the first page. The story centers around Sofia, a passionate fashion designer, and Ethan Dalton, a billionaire with a complicated past and a reputation as a ruthless playboy. Their initial encounters are charged with tension and animosity, setting the stage for a fiery enemies-to-lovers romance.

What I loved most about this book is the chemistry between Sofia and Ethan. Their interactions are electric, filled with witty banter and undeniable attraction that quickly escalates into something more intense. Jones excels at creating steamy scenes that are both provocative and emotionally charged, making it easy to root for their relationship despite the obstacles they face.

Sofia is a strong character who is determined to carve her own path in the fashion world while dealing with her father's expectations and the shadow of her family's legacy. However, her decision to lie to Ethan during their first meeting adds an element of frustration to her character. While I understand that this conflict drives the plot forward and heightens the tension between them, I found myself wishing she would have been more honest from the start.

Ethan is a compelling hero—though he has a reputation as a playboy, his sweet and kind nature shines through in his interactions with Sofia. His internal struggles regarding trust and vulnerability make him relatable, adding depth to his character. The supporting cast also adds layers to the story, particularly as family dynamics come into play.

The pacing of the book is generally well-executed, though I felt that the ending was somewhat rushed. The cliffhanger left me eager for more but also slightly unsatisfied as it felt abrupt after such a build-up. Nevertheless, it effectively sets the stage for future installments in the series.

Overall, My Enemy, My Obsession is an engaging read filled with passion, suspense, and emotional complexity. With its well-developed characters and gripping storyline, I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. This book is perfect for fans of steamy romance who enjoy a blend of drama and intrigue. Lisa Renee Jones has crafted an enticing tale that leaves readers wanting more!

Quick easy read. Heavy smut, little plot. lol just what I needed to pass the time. Enjoyed it for what it was. Don’t go into this thinking you’ll be reading a masterpiece. But overall I though it was ok and have no real complaints.

Ethan is a really great guy. It took a very long time for Sofia to see this and accept it. When she admitted that she was scared, Ethan replied "That's good. Because it's an honest emotion, and it means that you're invested."

Every time that Sofia tried to run away from Ethan, he was right there to show her that there was nothing to run away from. He cared for her and wanted her to succeed. Plus, Sofia can't really deny the attraction that these two had for one another. The proof was behind closed doors in the bedroom!

The story gets more interesting in the last third of the story. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. This was a very fast read for me.

Lisa Renee Jones delivers undeniable chemistry between the leads, which is engaging and full of tension. However, despite the intensity, the book doesn’t feel complete, leaving the story hanging in a way that’s more frustrating than suspenseful. Without giving spoilers the MMC’s behaviour in one scene in particular—a pregnancy scare—made me very uncomfortable (there was a vibe that felt controlling). Otherwise I enjoyed the well-built dynamics.

My Enemy, My Obsession is a story that intrigues and engages from the very first page.

As Sofia heads to Hawaii for a shot at the opportunity of a lifetime and where she meets intense, intriguing and gorgeous Ethan Dalton.

Whom she shares an unforgettable night with.

However, Ethan mistakenly believes Sofia is called Zoey and that's not the only secret between the pair.

So when they come face to face again in New York, it's fair to say Ethan is less than happy to see her and Sofia isn't exactly full of joy either. As her father has had plenty to say about Ethan Dalton too.

Which makes Sofia's head spin. Especially with the way Ethan is now behaving towards her.

Only the attraction is strong, and the pair can't keep away from each other. But Ethan has plenty more secrets and enemies including his own brother and dad and by the end Sofia isn't sure she can truly trust what he says.

And with a cliffhanger ending, fire, passion and a bit of angst. This was an enjoyable story. That easily kept me reading and I'm looking forward to what comes next.

MY ENEMY, MY OBSESSION is the first instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult DALTON FAMILY erotic, romance series. This is thirty six year old investor Ethan Dalton, and twenty-nine year old, fashion designer Sofia Cameron’s story line.

Told from first person perspective (Sofia) with a chapter from Ethan MY ENEMY, MY OBSESSION follows the quick building but tempestuous relationship between investor Ethan Dalton, and fashion designer Sofia Cameron. Sofia Cameron has been invited to present her designs at a conference in Hawaii but never expected to meet investor Ethan Dalton, the man whom Sofia’s father warns to stay clear but a one night stand followed by Sofia ghosting our hero is about to become awkward when Ethan is part of the selection committee. An offer from the board including a six week mentorship finds Sofia considering a move with Ethan to Paris but all is not well in Ethan’s life, the past refuses to let go, and the present is determined to control his life.

The world building follows the building but acrimonious relationship between our story line couple but a relationship in which Ethan struggles to trust, and Sofia believes is predicated upon pity . A lie of omission threatens any chance for Sofia to present her designs, and Ethan battles between head and heart as it pertains to our story line heroine. The back and forth, up and down, begins to fracture their growing relationship. The numerous $ex scenes are provocative and erotic .

We are briefly introduced to Sofia’s father Robert Cameron, and Ethan’s half-brother Grant, and his wife Anna.

MY ENEMY, MY OBSESSION is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, betrayal and obsession, family and relationships, understanding and trust. The fast paced character driven premise is thought provoking and interesting; the romance is seductive and impassioned; the characters are desperate and dynamic. MY ENEMY, MY OBSESSION ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

This was actually a very spicy and short read which means this actually was a cleansing palate but we all like one of those from time to time right? I enjoyed the characters very much but it ends in a cliffhanger so I'm curious for more

This was a quick read with lots of back and forth on if a relationship is meant to be between two people who have difficult pasts.

A spicy and emotional read that leaves you with a cliff hanger.

This is Ethan’s and Sofia's story, beware it’s a cliff hanger! I was slow at first for me, but picked up. It’s not for anyone under 18. I like alittle more suspense in my books,

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you for allowing me to review

I think I need more books from Lisa Renee Jones. I like the start of this enemies-to-lovers romance. This new novel is steeped in seduction. The author writes with such conviction and style. This is the first book I have read and I look forward to the next part. The cover of the novel reveals that there will be a trilogy, which sounds very interesting. Can't wait!
We have Ethan Dalton, a wealthy, attractive, strong-willed, highly successful businessman who simply doesn't wear a suit, but owns it. And we have Sofia Cameron (my dear girl) a talented woman who hopes to become a rising star in the fashion world, but who urgently needs an investor. The meeting, for the first time, of the two, is charged with sensuality and attraction, neither of which will happen when their worlds collide. For me, the beginning of the book went quite slowly, but from chapter 10 all the feelings and emotions were maximum.
I liked both main characters. I consider them strong both in their relationship as a couple, but also professionally. They are very determined to get everything they want. Sofia is determined to develop her own fashion line and help her father, and Ethan is determined to do everything he can to keep Sofia with him. There were moments in the book when I wanted to shout “Ask him once, woman!”, but he prefers to run away, although he is aware of the electrifying attraction between them.
I want to know how the story of the two of them ends, Sofia and Ethan, and for this I need the next book that the author I hope will release soon. I liked this book because I had lies, betrayal, a power struggle and a rollercoaster of emotions. A story that makes you want more. A story strewn with spicy, full of suspense and last but not least an intense love story.
If you like spicy, intense and suspenseful romance, then My Enemy, My Obsession by Lisa Renee Jones is right for you. I recommend it with love! Thank you to NetGallery and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the temporary ARC that I received in return for my honest review.

Sofia is a clothing designer trying to get her brand into a big store. She meets Ethan at a show in Hawaii but doesn’t know who he is. When they meet again she learns that he is the one who will decide if her clothing ends up in the store or not. He says no one cares if they have a personal relationship. She is concerned about how it looks to others. Then he offers her the internship opportunity of a lifetime, but she has to be willing to move. Will the impediments in their way stop their relationship before it even starts?

I think there are good elements in this story. Sofia wants to save her father’s failing business. It’s a noble goal. The author gives readers information through the course of the story to help the reader understand why Ethan wouldn’t invest in her father’s business. Ethan’s family issues made a lot of sense. I can understand why he chooses to live in Europe to avoid his family.

I do not like the ending of this story. I knew going in it would be a cliffhanger but the reason for the cliffhanger was stupid. The author tried to establish that Sofia was unsure of her relationship with Ethan but it just didn’t work. I will read the next book because I hate leaving a story unfinished.

Has all the elements I love about a story by Lisa Renee Jones. Sexy, steamy romance, angst, tension, and characters you love to hate. This fast paced read will have you completely invested in Ethan and Sofia. That ending though!

I absolutely loved EVERYTHING about this book! It drew me in from the beginning. The male main character was strong and written well. I think this is the first book I've read written by a woman where the female main character was also written fabulously. The only thing I am not a fan of, is the fact that is ended on a cliffhanger because I really really, really, want to know how it ends 😭

I quite liked this book and in usual Lisa Renee Jones style it has a good plot, romance and some sexy scenes. With a gorgeous alpha male billionaire and a female main character who is a bit naive but willing to put herself outside of her comfort zone for initially just one night.
I I felt that the book was a little bit repetitive with Sofia’s indecision about Ethan.
I did not realise at the start that this would end on a cliff hanger but keen to read the follow up book(s) to see how this turns out.
A bit of a steamy read. 3 stars
