ER Doc’s Miracle Triplets by Tina Beckett is a Mills & Boon Medical romance. This is the first in a mini series following the lives of medics who work at Hospital Bueno Aires in Argentina.
Isabella is an ER Doctor who finally finds out she is pregnant with triplets after several harsh rounds of IVF. When she finds out, however, she is separated from Sebastian her husband has travelled abroad for work for two months. She does eventually tell him but their marriage is still rocky and full of resentment. Will they be able to overcome this bitterness and make a home for 5?
This is quite a short read, almost too rushed. I enjoyed the backdrop of the story and how this storyline is slightly different to the normal medical romance. Although it is part of a mini series it can be read as a stand alone novel. The characters are likeable and relatable as they buckle under the stresses of a struggling marriage, IVF failures etc and this is a more realistic view of romance than M&B sometimes portrays. An enjoyable quick read.
This first book in the Buenos Aires Docs series deals with the emotional pressure on a couple trying to have a family and what happens when what they both want most happens. It focuses on miscommunication and misunderstanding in relationships. I like the couple, and their connection is believable. I like the setting in Buenos Aires and the epilogue's happy ending.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
A quick read, with a fairly cliched plot line which was enlivened by the setting. I assume this is part of a series, but didn't feel I needed to have read the previous books to follow the characters etc, though that might have added to my enjoyment.
What drew me to this book was the setting of Argentina and it's the first time I've read books set there. The story of Bella and Seb takes places over a short period of time in a whirlwind of pregnancies, marriages falling apart, lack of communication and running away from problems. I wished the book was longer because it did feel very rushed. Everything happens so quickly but it is an enjoyable read. I liked the characters and the settings learning more about Buenos Aires.
I will be reading the rest of the series for sure.
Bella and Sebastian are struggling, the children had planned for are not coming and the IVF just hasn’t worked. Sebastian cut loose and leaves the country for two months to do medical work abroad leaving Bella behind. The good news is that the IBF had taken and Bella expecting triplets however the relationship between the couple remains painful and unsettled. The book is about adjusting and forgiving and the benefit of time alone to think things through. The romance is there and woven through their life working in a busy hospital. a lovely read.
Talk to each other!
That’s what I kept thinking throughout this book and I got more and more annoyed that they didn’t. An honest conversation when Seb returned from Africa would have sorted out their problems but no, they stayed silent and therefore inflicted pain on one another.
This did not make sense to me because they were a married couple and ought to have been long past that stage when you’re reluctant to open up unless the other person does.
I’m afraid I really dislike the ‘miscommunication’ trope. I found Seb Bella’s continual negative assumptions about what each other wanted, utterly frustrating.
The author writes well but this story was simply not my cup of tea.
