It is an enjoyable romantic story. Ana returns to Buenos Aires after working in a remote medical clinic for five years. When she meets her childhood friend and teenage crush, Gabriel, again, she is still attracted, but he has a child and never wants to be more than her friend, so she ruthlessly focuses on her new venture. Gabriel admires Ana's achievement and still has an inconvenient attraction towards her, but he will never refuse when she needs help with her new clinic. I like the simmering attraction between Ana and Gabriel and how both worry about it damaging their friendship. I enjoyed the setting and the friends-to-lovers romance.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

Ana and Gabriel were friends as children, Gabriel was with Ana and stayed alongside her as she lost the use of her legs as a child in a car accident. When Gabriel‘s girlfriend fell pregnant and they married, Anna moved away unable to deal with her feelings. Now Ana is back working in a clinic as an excellent doctor, Gabriel works alongside her and the chemistry that was there when they were younger flashes and bubbles to the surface again. The couple are no longer footloose and fancy free as they were as teenagers., there are jobs and apartments and a little boy that stop this being simple. The book is full of misunderstandings and people saying one thing and hearing another. Ana uses a wheelchair to get around and this is sensitively woven into the story. This is a classic romance complete with a flower behind the ear and well worth reading.

This was. It my cup of tea. I found it difficult to empathise with Anna and found Gabriel’s inability to deal with Inez really frustrating.

Never mind, it’s not possible to like every book an author writes!
