The perfect festive romance with a bit of Halloween thrown in there too. Really easy and light-hearted story.
This was absolutely delightful. Perfect for fans of spooky Christmas. Bowen and Tamsyn were so cute and I had such a blast.
I loved that this is a completely different setting to the first two books. A continuation of the series in that it’s Bowens book - but completely different in terms of time and place.
I loved that it’s a Christmas book - from the opening scenes it had such a festive feel to it. Perfect for the holiday season!
After reading the first two books in the series I was really looking forward to Bowens book - he seemed to be the sounding board for his brothers and it’s his time!
I LOVED that Bowen seemed instantly enamoured by Tamsyn that he was literally dumbstruck by her. This was further compounded by the fact she was Tamsyn from book one - the one who tricked Rhys and Vivi into trapping a ghost. Going to lead to some questionable family dinners when they eventually get together!
They had such good chemistry from their first meeting - from Bowen stumbling over his words, to her not wanting to miss a good mistletoe moment, to their email/text conversations over the months that followed. I just loved them together!
I just love their family - it was really nice seeing how Rhys & Vivi and Gwyn & Wells have settled into their lives and relationships since the last book. With some really cute developments happening since book 2.
Learning about Declan was actually heartbreaking. I found myself really immersed in the story and couldn’t put it down - I just really had to find out what was going on.
Time-travel is always an intriguing trope - seeing a different side to characters, I.e. what they were like when they were young. And the overarching worry of the protagonists that their actions may alter their present day. Makes for a really exciting read.
They’re my favourite couple of the series. They are such a good match and clearly love each other. I loved they teased but also supported each other - they had the perfect balance of chemistry and cuteness.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had such a cosy feel to it, and the chemistry between the two main characters was spot on. This is a ‘Christmas’ novel that’s been perfectly done, it’s a Yuletide setting but the festivities aren’t the main event. The overarching plot and the developing relationship between the main characters take centre stage. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a festive character driven novel, where he falls first and tonnes of magic.
ARC copy provided by Headline & NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I couldn’t wait for the third chance to escape into Graves Glen! This time we properly meet the third Penhallow brother, Bowen so far known as a bit of a bearded loner and ‘mountain man’. Throughout the story, we learn the reason for his self-imposed isolation in his cabin in Wales as he tries to right some wrongs.
Bowen, all brain and beard meets Tamsyn, a stunning and skilled acquirer of all things witchy as he tries to source items for his research. Their chemistry is off the scale, what could possibly go wrong? Chaos, magic and a little bit of time travel then ensues.
I adore this series, and The Wedding Witch didn’t disappoint. The laugh out loud dialogue and the witchy energy makes it a perfect seasonal read. It was great to catch up with Vivi and Gwyn too.
Having loved the other 2 books in this companion series, I'm so sad about this one!
I found Tamsyn to be really annoying! Especially in the beginning - she would talk to herself a lot - don't get me wrong, I do it too, but it was just written in such a cringey way! And also I didn't really get why she needed to assume a new identity when she went on a magical artefact collecting mission. It just felt like she was doing too much and it really wasn't that big of a deal.
Furthermore, I really didn't feel the chemistry at all, so it was hard to route for them and their problem, which was wrapped up so quickly and easily!
I really wanted to love it, but it couldn't hold my attention. I was reading it on a plane and the girl in front of me was having a HSM marathon with subtitles on (god bless) and I kept on watching it over her shoulder instead lol
Still a fun, sexy time, but if you want spooky season, Hocus Pocus fun, stick with the first 2 books!
The Wedding Witch" is a book that lingers with you long after the final page. I took my time reading this book; it had everything I want in a book—magic, love, and a little spice. It's a perfect blend of fantasy and romance that makes you believe in the extraordinary. I cried, swooned, and left wanting more. If you love a tale that weaves enchantment with emotions, this is the one to pick up.
I was full of anticipation to read the third book in this charming series, and I was not disappointed. Erin is a fantastic author and her books really shine. This story is the perfect blend of magic and romance, perfect autumn reading.
I loved this third book in the series!! Full of magic and romance, this is the perfect book for the autumn season. I love Erin Sterling’s writing and will read anything she writes!!
The Wedding Witch was a book I was excited to read; I loved The Ex Hex and liked The Kiss Curse; and was lucky to receive an e-ARC.
The Wedding Witch is / has:
❄️ A dash of festive romance, but make it paranormal
✨ F/M workplace environment (with a twist)
❄️ Time travel
✨ One bed
❄️ Dual POV
This was a bit of a surprising read, rounding off The Ex Hex series, I wasn’t expecting a festive inspired romance. This felt different from the other books which was welcome. It was great to get Bowen’s story and I liked that his love interest had a link to earlier stories too. However, it was getting to see the characters from the first two books that I most enjoyed.
But…
•Everything felt fast, the romance was insta-love the story moved very quickly.
•The colloquial language and dialect for Bowen sometimes felt more Scottish to me rather than Welsh, so I had a bit of a disconnect - but this might be a me thing!
I read The Wedding Witch as an ARC through NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.
Witty, witchy and wicked! A wonderful journey into a magical world with witches, ghosts, a wedding, unexpected time travel and a very steamy romance. Oh and did I mention a talking cat? A great story which had me captivated from beginning to end. Loved it!
This was the perfect opener for my autumn reading, it was funny, cute and such a cosy read! The MCs were brilliant and so perfect and their “quest” was fun. The time travelling was written well and I loved that aspect of the story, definitely recommend this one
Having previously read The Ex Hex and The Kiss Curse, the first two books in the series, I was intrigued by the character of Bowen, the third Penhallow brother. Grumpy and handsome, a man of very few words living in isolation in a repenting-kind-of way, I was curious about his story and, luckily, the author fulfilled those wishes. And I was also happy to see another interesting character from the previous books, as his love interest. Tamsyn Bligh could have been described as the villain of the first book, although she had her own redemption in the end, and now she is back as a procurer and seller of magical items, sometimes not in a very legal way.
I adored the characters of Bowen and Tamsyn. They are fun and adorable. I enjoyed their banter and the chemistry is off the charts. There is also a fantastic cast of secondary characters that make the story more entertaining and charming.
I think that The Wedding Witch is my favourite book of the series. We see the return of the previous characters and we meet new ones. There is ancient and powerful magic, a ghost, and a haunted house. There are witches, Yule festivities, and time-travelling. And, best of all, there is an immersive slow-burn romance and quite a few sexy and spicy scenes.
The Wedding Witch is bewitching, entertaining, and engrossing, the perfect read for the cozy season: it has Halloween vibes and gets you ready for Christmas!
Very cute story, lovely easy reading, and well flowing writing. It utilises classic tropes very well to make a reader squeal - could've used more build up though
This was a quick, easy read that had a good low stakes plot and some fun moments. I had enjoyed the previous two books in this series and was looking forward to seeing how the final brother’s story finished it off. I wish there would have been more of Graves Glen and the other characters. The story felt very separate from the witchy world of the first two.
I found the characters love story a bit insta love and we didn’t really know much about Tamysn and why Bowen liked her other than he thought she was beautiful.
The time travel plot didn’t really grip me and I found there were a lot of characters for the pace of the book, so that it all felt quite surface level.
All in all a good witchy book but not one that will stick with me.
Super fun as expected. I was so excited to get to read this and devoured it in a day. The ending felt a bit rushed and there was definitely less peril in this one but still a thoroughly enjoyable read.
The Wedding Witch is the third installment in the magical, spicy series set in the fictional Graves Glen. In the first novel, The Ex-Hex, we met the adult Vivienne Jones (Vivi) who is worried that an old spell, cast as an angry teenager has come back to haunt her - and Rhys Penhallow. Now, this mismatched pair must overcome their past to save Graves Glen and each other.
In The Kiss Curse, we follow the tale of Vivi's cousin, Gwyn Jones and her adventures. And her adventures, involve one Llewellyn 'Wells' Penhallow (yes, a brother of Rhys, from The Ex-Hex).
And in our third outing? This time around, the action moves from Graves Glen, US to Wales. And pur protoganists our Bowen Penhallow and Tamsyn Bligh. Tamsyn is a procurer of magical items and is working with/for Bowen. Then, they both end up attending the same wedding - Bowen as a favour to a - deceased - friend and Tamsyn to track down a magical artefacts.
What happens next is a time-travelling, romantic and very magical comedy. A fresh, funny and very enjoyable Christmassy read.
The third installment of The Ex Hex series follows Bowen and Tamsyn. The pair initially meet on Christmas Eve when Bowen asks Tamsyn to work as an Acquirer of magical items exclusively for him. She agrees, but only after a swoon worthy kiss under the misteltoe, immediately stating that she doesn't date her coworkers.
For a year they work together and send messages back and forth, Tamsyn gently teasing Bowen and Bowen responding with once word responses but clearly enjoying their chats nonetheless.
When Tamsyn decides to go off piste and takes a job for someone else for the prize of $1 million, shenanigans ensue and she doesn't realise it but she'll end up at the same location as Bowen - who's visiting the house where the magic brooch is hiding for his best friend, Declan, a ghost stuck in limbo. But when the pair are sent back in time to 1957 it's clear something is not quite right and they have to find a way to get themselves back to the present whilst simultaneously facing their growing feelings for one another.
I really enjoyed this book, although it was a little cringey at times. It works as a standalone but I would recommend reading the other two just for context and a little more character development. Bowen is an absolute sweetheart, shy and quiet but nonetheless full of strong feelings for the quirky Tamsyn. She's a side character from The Ex Hex and we get more of an insight into her through this book, she's a little lonely, talks to herself a lot, and is very good at her job acquiring magical items despite not being a witch.
My only criticisms are that it was a little too insta-love for me and also, the use of the word "girl" in the bedroom is really not appealing to me.
Overall a very sweet read set in a wonderful cozy setting. Highly recommend for Autumn or Christmas reading!
3.5 stars
The Wedding Witch was definitely a very cute, and pretty cheesy, Christmas romance. As someone who doesn’t usually like Christmas romances, I’m glad to say that I didn’t hate it but it definitely didn’t change my mind on the genre. Firstly, I absolutely loved Tamsyn as a character. It was such a long time ago that I read The Ex Hex so I honestly didn’t remember any details about her, and I’m really glad about that because I got to experience her character being built completely from scratch. And the character that was built was funny, quirky, wholesome and pretty sexy too! She had this spice to her personality that meant you never knew what she was going to say next, and I’ve genuinely never had more fun than when reading her internal monologues. As for Bowen, it was genuinely entertaining to just read him attempting to keep up with her. He had the perfect grumpy loner vibe, which just the right amount of devotion and obsession with Tamsyn to make me properly swoon. I think the only thing I didn’t like about the character development was how instant their relationship felt. I know part of that is because this book was only 200 pages, but it just felt very speedy and I think I would have benefitted from seeing some of their interactions from the early years written out in detail (although I did think the mixed media was a fun element). The plot of this story definitely had those Hallmark Christmas movie vibes, which I didn’t mind but I didn’t love. I will admit that I missed the small town spooky vibes of the earlier books because they gave this level of charm and autumnal coziness that this book didn’t have as much of. Don’t get me wrong, it was still cozy, it was just different. I will say that the way the plot developed was completely unpredictable for me. I didn’t know where it was going to go in terms of the characters involved and how they would solve the time travel, but the ending was perfectly foreshadowed in the sense that it made sense. It was pretty cheesy though and I think there were definitely a few conveniences thrown in there. I know that we’re finished with the brothers now, but here is me praying for more books in this world because I feel like Simon’s arc isn’t completely finished yet, whether he be defeated or reformed.
Thank you to NetGalley, Headline Eternal, and Erin Sterling for providing me with an ARC of The Wedding Witch in exchange for an honest review.
Whew! I absolutely flew through The Wedding Witch, I'm not sure what it was but I couldn't put it down. It was perhaps a bit on the short side, for me, but it did mean that there wasn't any pointless filler or lulls in the pace.
I really enjoyed both Bowen and Tamsyn as characters and thought the plot was solid and entertaining. I would definitely recommend this book to those who liked the first two in this series and for anyone looking for an autumn/winter read.
I loved The Ex Hex so I was very excited to read this one and overall I loved the cozy witchy vibes it made me feel combined with burst of humour and romance,
