Thank you for such an enjoyable book! I have read all of the Ever After books, but this could be read as a standalone. Before I get into Raff and Gaby. How many people have read a story only to be sad when it was over because you missed the characters? Hands up, Me! I love how there is always a new and original matchmaking case to tackle, but also that Poppy from the first book has an occasional POV throughout the series with Tristan. I loved how Gaby knew exactly who Raff shouldn't be matched with, and Poppy figuring it out. Love is blind, until it isn't. I felt Gaby's frustration as the client, and it kept me turning the pages to see how that was going to play out. But I loved how clueless Raff was to Gaby being for him. In a house full of men and boys, I can tell you, men are clueless! I thought the baking competition was fresh and original, and as always, so is this series. Thank you to the publisher and the author. This series would make an excellent series on Netflix.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc!!
What a good book! I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I loved the main characters! They had great chemistry and worked so well together. I loved how the book just flowed. My first by this author but will not be my last!!!
I started reading just because of the premise and then part way I realized, "Poppy and her husband's story sounds familiar..." and I realized I had read the first in this series "Match Me If You Can"! I had no idea it was a series until then because it didn't say Ever After Series #4 in the title!! All that to say, you can read this standalone and it would be totally fine but it's also fun to realize you actually know a tad about some characters already.
Premise of this book is that Raff wins Britain's baking competition but gets dumped the same day by the woman he was going to propose to. He is always one that is looking for love and jumps in fast. His best friends Gaby and Freya want to set him up to ease things for him and find the right one. Gaby though realizes a little too late as they found a match for him that SHE should be his true match. It's a friends to lovers, found family, career/life meaning search, and so much more book that touched my heart.
It made me giggle to myself in several scenes, and you could feel the closeness with all three best friends, and I loved their dynamic. I also loved seeing different families and the love we find in marriages and sacrificial love of family explored in this book. There's also a deep addressing of fear of trying new things, wanting new challenges, and not being good enough that is really important to share with the world. What we truly want is to be seen as we are, accepted, and loved by those around us. I hope we can all find that kind of love in our relationships and give it to those around us! I really enjoyed it!!
Thank you netgalley for the chance to review this!
I adore the Ever After series, and this one might be up there as one of my favorites. First: I love all the touches of Poppy being involved. I loved seeing all of our other characters from previous books make appearances, even if tiny. I do want to see a little bit more of Poppy/Tristan if we're going to keep seeing them, but I also know the focus was really on Gaby and Raff.
Raff is ADORABLE. Just plain adorable. I love how completely blind he is to women, and more importantly to his best friend. As someone who has had these types of relationships before, its just so much fun to see friends - to -lovers play out in a way thats actually really cute. I DO wish one of them had recognized their feelings earlier; I think its something you just would KNOW, but this was still a believable way.
I loved how slow burn this was. I love that we didn't rush into lovers right away and I loved that their wasn't some really silly third act breakup. They just naturally found their way to each other. I also have really liked that while this series is about a matchmaking agency, and Poppy typically has great insights, this is never about 'soulmates'. LOVE that.
All in all: such a fun series. If you are thinking of picking it up you don't HAVE to read them in order, but it is fun to see each storyline grow on the next!
This book got better and better. Much preferred the second half. Told in chapters by different people. Not my favourite way of reading but still a good story of matching and falling in love with your best friend . Also about saving a wedding . Set in London and America . Read it . You will enjoy it .
I really liked this one. It was cute, uplifting and enjoyable. The characters were likeable and you wanted that happy ending by the end. Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this copy.
I fall on any book written by Sandy Barker with glee. I know it'll be funny, romantic, and it'll take me to an exotic location (this time, Seattle). 'Someone Like You' is no exception. Our protagonists Gaby and Rafferty are both adorable and their growing relationship is as sweet and satisfying as anything Britain's Best Baker could whip up. I enjoyed meeting Gaby's family, who are chaotic but utterly loveable, and as always it's great to catch up with Poppy and Tristan (I may have squealed at the mention of babies...). And that ending - not just a HEA, but one in the snow, and at Christmas? It would take a sterner woman than I not to melt into a gooey puddle of swooniness (totally a word) at that.
Five big shiny stars for this one, and a hearty recommendation for any romcom lover.
Having followed this series from the start, I knew this would be another winner. There’s something about Sandy Barker’s writing that I find so easy to connect with. Maybe it’s her style of writing, but it never feels like a chore to read her books. It’s more like gliding along watching the story unfold. Someone Like You is a delightful friends to lovers romance, which ticked every box for me. I was fully invested in Gaby and Raff’s journey to love and there were plenty of laughs along the way. I also really enjoy the whole dating agency angle and Poppy’s quests to pair up her clients. Another solid five stars!
“Hope perches on one shoulder cheering me on, while dread plonks itself on the other, telling me not be ridiculous.”
Someone Like You is the third in a series and can be read as a standalone. That said, I wish I had had an idea of how the narration worked before I picked it. That’s completely on me, I should have looked at what I was about to read more deeply.
I thought it was a romance, but it isn’t exactly one. I probably would have had a different opinion on it, should I have known before, as I would have read it at a different time (mood).
This book is a dual POV, but not like in a common romance. Here, we have Gaby’s (the MFC) POV, but also Poppy’s (the matchmaker). That’s very original, and should I have been in a “feel good book mood”, it would have been perfect. That is especially true in the first part of the book, while it almost felt like both MCs were puppets in the matchmakers’ hands. The second part, however, looks more like a “classic” romance. MCs finally interact a lot with each other, making the first half look like a long introduction. I loved that part. Gaby and Raff were cute together, endearing, and very efficient –it almost felt like magic. It was funny and –for that second half– a very quick and addictive (Christmas) read. I loved the cooking part, and I wish it had more space in it.
In the end, I would recommend this book to you if you are looking for a feel good Christmas book, with a very original choice in the narration. I’ll probably read the rest of the series, with that idea in mind.
Thank you NetGalley, Boldwood Books and to the author for the ARC. My opinions are my own.
Although I thought the characters weren't as memorable as in the first three books, I still adored the writing style and literary devices, and I found it to be an easy read. Since I was unaware that this book included Christmas, I also appreciated the sprinkles throughout. Christmas combined with romance is always a winning combination.
Thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood Books, and Sandy Barker for granting my request to read this e-ARC and provide my honest opinions.
I would have rated this 3.5 stars, but I rounded it up to 4 stars. The whole transition from friends to lovers took me on a ride, and I really thought that both Raff's and Gaby's HEAs (Happily Ever After) would not happen due to some circumstances on both MCs part.
"Someone Like You" is the fourth book in the "Ever After Agency Series," and I read this book as a standalone even without reading the rest in the series.
Honestly, I feel that no one can be as dumb and oblivious as Raff. Like, seriously, dude, how can you not know when someone is flirting with you? The whole matchmaker bit got me excited (that's a dream job).
Overall, I really enjoyed this story, even if I thought it was way too long and dragging in some aspects😩. I'm glad that Gaby and Raff got their HEAs.❤
Book summary: “What do you do when you realise you've fallen for your best friend, but he sees you as the sister he never had? And to make things worse, you're stuck in the middle of a matchmaking scheme to find him someone else!” I’m not a fan of the friends to lovers trope but the adorable cover drew me in. I’m glad it did as I really enjoyed this fun and lighthearted romantic comedy. Great characters and writing. I’ll be checking out the author’s backlist.
I think this one was my favourite in the series!
I adored Raff, and not only because he bakes! I loved the special relationship Gabs and Raff have and how they both just see each other.
Gabs' family were so fun, and so typically romcom, the perfect in-laws.
I always love little snippets on how some of the previous characters are doing, and I actually can't wait to see what's going to happen in the next book. Sandy left so many breadcrumbs that I'm dying over!

This was such a great read! Gaby and Raff are best friends, but when Gaby is set up to find Raff his true love, well, the universe decides they would be better as a couple. Such a sweet, fun story!
Yay for Sandy Barker. This can be read as a stand alone book, but if I were you I’d hunt out the previous three books in this series, as you are in for a treat! This is my favourite so far. It made me laugh and also made me cry. I loved the main characters Raff and Gabby, but also all the peripheral characters too.
Cosy up, light the candle and enjoy. Massive recommendation from me
Secret matchmaking, falling for the best friend and snowed in at Christmas with the fam, and even one bed all led for a delightful read. Raff, the male character, was also a delight
I've read 3 our of 4 of the Ever After Agency series now, and this is my favourite so far. It's a series, and while each book can be read on it's own, it's fun revisiting some of the characters you've met in the first books too.
Someone Like You is the fourth book in Ever After Agency series. It was the first one in the series I’ve read but I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. In fact I had fun guessing which of the characters might have been in the books before! Serial monogamist Raff gets dumped on the day that he wins the Britain’s Best Baker reality TV show. His Aunt CiCi hires the Ever After Agency to secretly find his match and enlists best friend and work wife Gaby to help them.
I enjoyed learning about the match making industry. It was a refreshing take to have the male main character the one down on his luck rather than the female. I enjoyed getting to know both Raff and Gaby. I felt for Raff as we learned about how he grew and really enjoyed his closeness with his aunt and their shared love of baking. Gaby’s career crisis was also very relatable. It was fun to see the differences in UK and US culture and I loved all the group chats.
For fans of friends to lovers, forced proximity and one bed tropes. I’ll definitely be going back to read the others in the series.
In Someone Like You, readers are treated to a delightful exploration of friendship and unspoken feelings as Gaby finds herself grappling with a newfound love for her best friend, Raff. Unfortunately, Raff views her as the sister he never had, complicating Gaby's emotions even further. To add to the mix, they find themselves caught up in a matchmaking scheme with the Ever After Agency, aiming to find Raff the perfect partner amidst his chaotic romantic history and newfound fame as Britain’s Best Baker.
Initially, Gaby throws herself into helping Raff find true love, thrilled at the prospect of him meeting someone special. However, as she assists in the matchmaking process, jealousy creeps in, and she’s forced to confront her feelings just as Raff begins to fall for one of his dates. This leads to a heartfelt dilemma: can Gaby suppress her emotions, or will she risk their cherished friendship to discover if Raff feels the same way?
Set against the festive backdrop of London and Seattle, this romantic comedy captures the spirit of the holidays while delivering a charming friends-to-lovers narrative. It’s the fourth instalment in the Ever After Agency series, yet it stands beautifully on its own.
The concept of an unaware matchmaker is a clever twist that adds a layer of fun to the story. From the beginning, it’s evident that Gaby harbours deeper feelings for Raff, even before she acknowledges them herself. The tension of not knowing whether Raff would reciprocate those feelings kept me eagerly turning the pages, desperate to uncover the truth.
With its cosy, festive atmosphere and engaging plot, Someone Like You is perfect for fans of clean and sweet holiday romances, as well as those who appreciate themes of friendship and found family. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to get swept up in a heartwarming tale of love and self-discovery during the most magical time of the year.

This moved both too slowly and too fast for me. Raff only realized he liked Gaby in the last few pages of the book? It felt anti-climatic after following her journey to realizing her feelings about him. As someone who hasn't read the other books in the series, I wished the Poppy chapters had been Raff chapters instead; having his POV would have added more to the story than Poppy's.
To say I wanted more would be an understatement. This was a delicious page turner right from the start. Everytime I had to put it down, it was all I could think about. I did end up finishing way past my bedtime, just so I would be able to sleep
