I chose to request this audiobook based on the fact we are currently living in a world full of AI & CGI moving more into this area I was curious to raise my awareness and felt this book may help me do so. With that being said I think my spiritual self found it difficult to connect in the way I'd have liked or even anticipated so I did take alot longer to complete this book than I would usually with any other as I had to keep taking breaks. This is definitely much more of a lateral thinking type of book.
Overall Clayton working with a psychiatrist showing how the AI world can be used and is most likely used in ways many of us may not even really recognise or be aware of is truly fascinating and inspiring it definitely opens the awareness to this area if its something you haven't considered is even possible! Sci-fi really isn't so far away as many may think! Lateral thinking combined with spirituality can be a difficult task to navigate when you work with intuition and facts. How can something be so? How is something possible? Well, this book simply makes you question all such things in exactly this way!
The narration at first ironically I found sounded a little robotic, monotone making it a little difficult for me to fully immerse myself in it felt more very factual based not quite an audio that I just melted into more like a thesis I was learning however when I was able to lean in to this idea I found it easier to listen.
I do believe if you're reading the physical book, it would be more enjoyable, but I still enjoyed the main premise of the structure and still the reason I chose to request this stands. I did get what I expected from it a little more awareness that the world we live in is evolving to include AI at a fast-paced level we may not even comprehend!
Well articulated how intelligence, software, and undercover ops can be used to manage or manipulate depending on your view within the movement of these current timelines!
Apologies, this one took me so long to complete and review. It really was just a little deeper than I anticipated! If you're able to dissacosciate and view simply as a fantasy sci-fi, then you will most likely get through this and enjoy it more and read much quicker than I did! Definitely feel that with this one, it was a timing and me thing! Definitely poses many questions between science and faith!
With thanks to Netgalley and Victory Editing Netgalley Co-op for this ARC in return for an honest review.
BITS, an action-packed thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The story is set in a world where the lines between artificial intelligence and human sentience are indistinct. Readers will question what it truly means to be human.

This is a sci fi lovers dream.
Clayton Rhodes is an experienced FBI Agent who is asked to work on an AI project. This work will include teaching AI the art of unde4cover operations. This is an excellent, fas5 paced novel with a unique plot line.
Excellent writing and narration by the author (I listened to the audiobook). Great, strong characters, AI theories and applications. So much going on over Clayton’s life and career. Cannot recommend this book highly enough.
Wow, what an exhilarating ride! From the very first page, 'Bits' seizes you with action and doesn’t let up until the very last moment. I listened to the audio version, and the pace was absolutely relentless, keeping me completely hooked as the story unfolded with each gripping scene.
The author’s narration adds a dynamic layer, making it easy to immerse yourself in the world he's crafted. However, while his storytelling is excellent, his attempts at different character accents don’t quite hit the mark. Though this isn't a major drawback, listeners who are particularly sensitive to accent work might find it slightly distracting at times.
Word of advice: do not start this book late at night—unless you're prepared for an all-nighter! Once you're in, there's no turning back. A thrilling, action-packed experience that’s an absolute must-read for any action fan!
Not a great fan of SF but have to admit that BITS didn’t just grab me, it gripped me by the throat and didn’t let go until the final lines of the last chapter.
Not that often I get to ponder what it is to be human; or what it is to be alive, but BITS will make you question your thoughts and beliefs.
It did mine….!
In a nutshell this novel is not just about what it is to be human and alive but what would happen if we could control and interfere with these premises.
It is a very brave Author that will take on life, death and artificial intelligence, but in my humble opinion C J Kichuk absolutely nails it.
BITS is a very well written novel and has the potential to be a best seller. Not sure if this is a first novel but whatever, i am looking forward to the follow up.
I was extremely lucky to get an ARC (audio version) from Netgalley via Victory editing. If you get the chance to read this novel then buy, borrow or sell a child to afford it, but whatever, read it.
If you do happen to get the audio book version then you are in for a treat……… well almost. The Irish accent is ….. well, it ranges from Welsh to Indian to the most northern Inuit. Quite the worst Irish accent ever but the rest of the audio book is spot on and most enjoyable.
A thriller with an AI edge. The author’s narration was deftly done … and I think I enjoyed the book all the more for it. I was promised The Matrix but there’s not much to be had on that front. This just felt like a secret agent fantasy. A lot happens, but the plot is hard to follow. The key idea seems to be the mixed reality integration of a simulated person … up to a 25 mile radius and only in certain places …
which just made me question how all the previous bits had taken place … why didn’t something break down at some point? There’s altogether too much verbiage—not only the rampant infodumps but also in the style of writing, with every detail over-explained and the use of thesaurus speech instead of simple language. I found myself drifting. Who knows—maybe I’m merely a chip in a computer. On that note, I also felt that the whole idea was somehow dated, or at least presented that way, even though this is a rather modern, radical take for the secret agent thriller genre. Chips, computers, thumb drives … I’m side-eyeing the other reviews … I dare say that a sympathetic AI somehow breached our reality.
The cover reminded me of a prime video film advert, but the actual audio was good. I’m always on the look out for decent techno thrillers and grabbed this one once I saw it pop us on NetGalley. I liked the premise of the audio and that always makes or breaks a technothriller, this one was good. I’ve reccomend to the scifi girlies in my book club
