I enjoyed the premise and idea of this book but it was a bit slow for me. The twists were great but getting into it was kind of tough. My review does NOT mean that this book is bad...it just was not righr for me.

A fun thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. Worth the read and recommendation for sure. I will say some of the story felt like it dragged a bit and some places I wanted more- but still very much worth the read!

A gripping read based around an IVF clinic. The first I’ve read by this author but I hope to read more. Intensely entertaining, with page turning action. I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to review an early copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Wow so much to unpack with this book. So many characters making bad decisions. Especially the main character. LOVED the ending and how it brought things full circle ! Highly recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me an ARC of The Clinic. My first book from this author.

I felt the first section dragged a bit, setting the scene and introducing the characters. However, I was grateful for this for the rest of the book, as it was important to have this background. Most, if not all, of the characters were slightly off the scale on the craziness charts, which made them unpredictable at times.

When the big decision comes about halfway through, I did see it approaching and guessed correctly what would happen. However, the fall out from this was great to sit back and watch unfold!

A enjoyable and quick read for me, a solid 4 stars.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley. Parts of this book were what I expected and parts were not. The very end of it I certainly did not see coming though!

Medical aspects of this book could use some mild tweaking and HIPAA was misspelled. It was also broken many times in this book-haha! I felt that several parts of this book moved into the implausible realm. Working in a medical setting for many years, it was difficult for me to get past this.

I think some of the storylines of several of the main characters could have been wrapped up a little less suddenly. The ending also felt a bit rushed to me. Overall, this is a popcorn thriller with a premise I haven’t read previously.

Thank you to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of The Clinic.

Cara Reinard delivers a dark, twisty thriller set in the morally fraught world of fertility treatment, where personal and professional boundaries collide. The Clinic centers on Emily, a determined embryologist with a traumatic medical past, who faces her own unresolved emotions when her ex, Ben, and his wife, Allyson, come to her clinic seeking IVF assistance. The situation forces Emily to confront old feelings and make increasingly questionable decisions as her desire for motherhood grows, leading to a story packed with secrets, manipulation, and unexpected turns.

The alternating perspectives of Emily and Allyson add depth to both characters, making their emotional journeys feel both relatable and compelling. Reinard does an excellent job bringing out the complexities of their personalities: Emily is both sympathetic and flawed, and Ally’s own hidden struggles emerge as the story unfolds. This dual viewpoint lets readers glimpse the inner workings of a fertility clinic while navigating the ethical and personal dilemmas it brings up.

Reinard’s pacing is excellent, with each chapter building tension as new layers of betrayal, past secrets, and moral conflict come to light. While some of Emily’s actions may stretch believability, they’re driven by the character’s deep psychological needs, keeping readers engaged despite the far-fetched moments. The medical details add authenticity and make the ethical issues around IVF fascinating, while the thriller elements ensure a gripping, page-turning experience.

The Clinic is a compelling read for fans of psychological thrillers, medical ethics, and complex character dynamics. Reinard creates a story full of suspense, moral ambiguity, and enough surprises to keep you guessing until the end.

Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a thought-provoking thriller that explores the darker side of ambition and the lengths we’ll go to get what we want.

This is the first book that I’ve read by Cara Reinard but it certainly won’t be the last! I was drawn to this book by the blurb as I am fascinated by the mistakes that often hit the headlines involving IVF patients or clinics. So a psychological thriller involving a character working in a position of trust would throw up lots of moral dilemmas and I was curious to know how this would be handled. Thankfully the plot worked really well with plenty of twists and turns to keep me interested.

Emily and Ally both want the same thing-a child. But when they first meet at the fertility clinic they are in very different situations. Emily works at the clinic and having had cancer she already has eggs frozen ready for her decision to become a mother. She is single so her best chance is through using a donor to help achieve her dreams. Ally on the other hand is there with her husband and surprised that it is her husband’s ex who is her best chance of getting pregnant. And it is the decision that Emily makes to not walk away from that personal connection that leads to a whole load of trouble for them all!

The Clinic is a gripping read full of unreliable narratives and characters I didn’t particularly like but couldn’t help but find intriguing. The ending was shocking and unexpected but the perfect finish to what came before. It left me looking forward to reading more by this author in the future.

This was a fun little popcorn thriller with a highly dark and disturbing subject matter. If you are easily triggered or suffering from infertility please stay away if that is a trigger for you. I loved how fast and exciting this book was. The only thins was I did not like the FMC's they were both unlikable and it was hard to root for them.

This was such a fun thriller! Would really make a great movie! This book shows you that everyone has secrets(that may or may not send you to prison) even the person you would least expect. Overall this was a quick read and very entertaining (even the parts that were a little inconvincable).

I opted to give this a 4 star even though it was a bit closer to 3-3/4 star for me due to some things that were just a bit too unbelievable. I thought the plot was good for the most part and I liked the characters. I didn't like how the ending was left open though. If she plans on a sequel, then I'm all for the ending. Overall, I would recommend this.

Wow, what a face pasted book filled with crazy! Emily wants a baby and she is the top embryologist working at a leading IVF facility. Allison wants to make her husband happy and start a family but after several miscarriages they are left with trying IVF, which brings them to the facility where Emily works. Things just get crazier from here....

Go read the Clinic as soon as it's published! Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I thought this was a great book for all but the last 2-3 chapters. I wanted to see more of an explosive end if you will. The suspense was building up greatly, and then just kind of fizzled out for me at the end. Overall, I enjoyed it greatly and will definitely be looking into more of this author's books. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read an ARC edition!

This is one of those books where I could see exactly how it was going to play out... or so I thought! I was SO wrong and I was absolutely gobsmacked at how it played out!

Emily works as an embryologist in a fertility clinic, despite being unable to have children naturally, since her cancer battle, prior to which, she had some of her eggs frozen. So imagine her shock when her first love, Ben, comes to the clinic, with his wife, asking for Emily to help them conceive!

Emily's character was so well written; I swung between feeling sorry for her and wanting to call her out on her behaviour! She was very much driven by her emotions and what she considered to be the right thing, whether it actually was right, or not. I found her struggle to like Ben's seemingly perfect wife, Ally, very interesting and really felt her conflict in her personal and professional contact with Ally.

Once it comes to crunch time, Emily has some huge decisions to make and finds she's not actually in control of events as she thought she was. Ben and Emily share secrets from the past, but it turns out, they're not the only ones who aren't being completely honest and things get deliciously twisty!

4 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Cara Reinard and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.
