As an experienced teacher, I am always reading about children's writing and how it can be improved or further developed. I found this an engaging, useful text and one that I can see myself dipping in and out of regularly. Clear explanations make this useful to both experienced and those new to teaching.

With this exposition, I had to read this book and I devoured it with my full attention.
First of all, I have never come across a book for writing stories for primary school (teacher in HE here), and glad this book exists. I will recommend it to my child’s teacher. It covers an essential topic with immense detail and specific advice.
Second of all, I had the impression, as a writing professor and practicing writer, that I would find something interesting in this book based on the blurb, and this book did more - it exceeded my expectations. In most cases, explaining a topic in the most concise and clear ways to total beginners is a good indicator of your own understanding for your topic. Many of the discussions, tips for pupils and teachers go beyond the primary school stage and can be applied for (it is the level and scope of storytelling that is excellently appropriate in this book for primary education) other stages of writing, and teaching writing.
Youles understand why we need stories, what makes a story good, and how a teacher can instil good storytelling in their pupils.
Well structured, written and engaging book.
Easily one of my favourite books on story and writing stories. Ah, plus, I will buy this book to devour it with my child.
