The concept of humans causing the end of the world is one often speculated about in films, TV shows and other media but rarely is how it could, or even if it should viewed through such an honest lense. I think this book deals well with a difficult subject matter as an undercurrent of the actual goal oriented mission undertaken by the lead characters to solve a more urgent and imminent issue.
What stops this book being rated higher for me is that, it is dealing with several kinds of extinction causing subplots at the same time and without more build up or investment in setting the stage it became difficult to truly be captivated by the narrative. I think if only one of the extinction issues had been focused on climate change, AI development or tribal behaviour it would have been more engaging as these are three very different and difficult challenges to weave together.
Overall it was a good read and if you enjoy a fast moving plot and exploring the future impact of humanities negligence it is definitely worth a read.
I was given the opportunity to read this book through an arc provided through netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
David A. Collier writes a strong scifi based story that I was looking for when reading the description. I enjoyed how good everything worked with the characters and their world. It had that extinction element that I was looking for and was glad everything worked in this world. I look forward to read more from David A. Collier and can’t wait for more.
This was a great book! I love the futuristic interpretation of what may be, and I live the possibilities this book has. It was very creative and imaginative. I like the pacing of this book and the characters were enjoyable too
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for this complimentary ARC in exchange for an honest review!!
