MJ White has done it again and delivered a gripping, immersive investigation for Suffolk CID and Dr Lael. After the explosive, gory multiple murder in the last book, is a completely different type of case and pace but with its deep sense of injustice is just a powerful. With the twists and turns, I was stilling who did what until the end.
Parts of the novel shone a spotlight on the prejudice against certain groups of society and hatred incited against them, this felt extremely poignant and relevant in light of the recent weeks and riots.
This series and closely bonded characters is one of my favourite crime thrillers and never fails to hit expectations and always leaves me wanting more. I can't wait to see what is next for the team.
