I absolutely DEVOURED this book! I was so excited to read it, I asked for the ARC and bought a copy! In exchange for a copy, I am sharing my honest review. I loved Jonathan, his tragic backstory and his love of books. I thought it was an interesting choice to set it in 1987, but it really worked for the plot and our character’s conflicts. I also loved the dynamic between Jonathan and Dacian, I would love to hear more from them soon! I highly recommend this book as it was the perfect balance of romance, tension, and horror! Best Vampire Book I have read this October!

Boy, am I glad I read Dracula before this. It’s not a requirement but it did make this book so much better knowing who these characters were supposed to be.
I liked this a lot! Taking the Dracula story and making it gothic academia was inspired. Do I wish there had been more romance and relationship development between the main characters? Of course. But I thought this was fun and dark and super gay. A win!

I really enjoyed this. I wasn't sure where it was going at first, it is definitely a slow build to the connection between the main characters. Once they got there... the action picked up and the plot worked its magic.
I would love to have a bit more detail about Dacian. He was an intriguing character and I would have enjoyed a bit more of his background. He's a very solid character though and I thought he was great.
Jonathan was so easy to love. What a life he had. From the moment he first appeared on page, I wanted him to succeed at whatever he wanted.

A beautifully written and unique take on immortality, Love Immortal blends romance, mystery, and adventure in an engaging way. The characters are compelling, and the emotional depth keeps you invested. While the pacing lags in a few places, the overall story is captivating and well worth the read!

3.5 stars rounded up! I enjoyed the romance and dynamic here, and the writing was wonderful. The 80's setting was a bit unexpected but not unpleasant, thoroughly readable and very run!

Such a good MM paranormal romance!! I really enjoyed the detail put into this, will be reading more from this author.

Love Immortal was a great modern day retelling of Dracula and vampires as a whole. The depiction of the vampire powers was one I have not seen before and it helped this book stand out among the rest. It was a fresh take on a vampire-romance while harping back to the dark and historically academic trope that birthed modern day horror.
The characters had undeniable chemistry and the contemporary aspect of wealth disparity and privilege was done really well. The dark academia and fantasy was so easy to delve into and follow throughout.
Something Kit Vincent always does marvelous at is character building and depicting their romantic growth with one another. Throughout the book you could feel the tether between Jonathan and Dacian to the point where their love felt inevitable and deeply profound. Towards the end we saw just how true their love was when it came to the stories epic conclusion.
Kit Vincent has easily become one of those auto-buy authors and for the resurgence of vampire fantasy romances coming today, this is one that fans of queer retellings and dark academia must pick up.

Thank you NetGalley for the e-arc!
Another amazing story by Kit Vincent. I read their other works and he became an auto-read author for queer romance! As someone who loves a vampire story, this was perfect for me. A dark academic retelling of Dracula with queer romance packed with infatuation and a bunch of dark library/book vibes? Perfection. I devoured this book in one sitting and recommend if you want something as bit gothic but still with a pretty fast pace.

Well. Its gay. That's the best part about it for me.
The monster gets made less monster because he repented. The Vampire lore is kinda whacky but still a fun read.

Jonathan’s life has not been easy. His family abandoned him the moment he came out and he lost his first love.
Now starting fresh at a prestigious isolated college in Vermont, he hopes to be able to finish his studies and get his dream job.
But this year, something will change. A book has been stolen from the Rare Book’s college library. A new mysterious professor has been hired, Dacian Bathory. And Jonathan will learn that vampires are real.
As Jonathan and Dacian get closer to each other and they work together to recover the stolen book, an unexpected turn of events will put them in grave danger.
This book was a light retelling of Dracula and that is something that I really cherished. The dark academia setting worked so wonderfully for this story and I loved all the talk about preserving rare books.
Now, the horror is on the lighter side as well as the romance. I actually really appreciated that it was a slow burn romance and the main focus was not just on Jonathan and Dacian’s relationship.
This book had a fantastic gothic atmosphere, a great pacing and the writing was beautiful and haunting. It had some tense and action packed scenes and it reflected on what it means to be immortal and how that changes your perspective on life as well as love.
Definitely a great vampire book that takes something from the classic Dracula story and adds its own twist. If you love vampires and dark academia, this book was made for you.

I loved this book very much. I had fun time reading, the plot , the characters all love. The writing style is so good, not to mention the academia setting, the whole college setting is so aesthetic .

Love the gothic vampire academia vibes of this. Murder mystery?! The cover is gorgeous and I love queer books. The storyline is fantastic. I do think the second half of the book fell short for me though. I felt as if it was a little rushed. Overall, great book and will definitely recommend

This was a wonderful read full of dark academia and swoonworthy gothic vibes. Vincent has a knack for peppering in really pretty descriptive language that compliment gothic lit themes. Jonathan clearly isn't the only one in love with prose!
Vincent paints Jonathan's infatuation so elegantly that his obsession is intoxicating. I felt myself falling right alongside him. Needless to say, I loved Jonathan as a protagonist; his voice and personality shine through the writing.
The cover art communicates the pining so well. I'm definitely hoping to grab a print copy sometime.
I'm so happy I got a chance to check out a copy for free. I'm leaving this review of my own accord.

Kit Vincent is an author I know I can rely on for some FANTASTIC LDBTQIA+ representation in books. I have followed them on socials for a while and truly love introducing students and staff to their work.

Thank you NetGalley & Kit Vincent for an eARC in exchange for my honest review!

This Book! I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting. Love Immortal was my favorite read in October. I think this book made me love dark academia vibes, which wasn't really my jam before. This book is so creative in how it incorporates vampire lore and the Dracula story (I don't want to say too much and spoil it, but it's super cool how Kit told the story). I also didn't think I would enjoy the professor x student aspect but I did! I think Kit just has a way with storytelling that always has me devouring their books! Overall I loved the mystery aspect, the emphasis on book preservation, and the romance between Jonathan and Dacian. I will definitely be rereading this soon!

I absolutely devoured this book. I love it so much I won’t even talk about its Dracula connections. A perfect mix of gothic romance and 80s horror and academia and one (1) extremely hot vampire.

Vincent’s writing creates a vivid, atmospheric world where love is not only a force of passion but one that defies the boundaries of life and death.
The characters are deeply compelling, with emotional depth that draws the reader in. The chemistry between the protagonists is palpable, making their journey both heart-wrenching and beautiful. Vincent skillfully explores themes of fate, loss, and the enduring nature of love, weaving them seamlessly into the plot. The story’s pacing is well-balanced, with moments of tension and tenderness that keep the reader engaged.

Very interesting reinterpretation of Dracula, this time set in the 1980s with a university in the USA as the setting, a lot of "Gothic vibes", also somewhat reminiscent of Lost Boys and a charming and extremely attractive vampire. It reads very fluently, is exciting and has an nice love story; You're really rooting for Jonathan, I read it in just 24 hours. I would only have liked the somewhat open ending to be different, but maybe there will be a sequel, that would be really great!!

"Love immortal" is a cute and wholesome romantasy, with a little bit of dark and splatter scenes.
I have to be a hundred percent honest: the first half of this book was a little bit too slow for my preferences, and the story was mainly focused on the romance between the two main characters; the second half was a little more my cup of tea, with a darker tone and more mysteries to solve. It had a gothic atmosphere and the plot twists were really surprising. I liked it more and thanks to that, my vote was higher.
Talking about the characters, I loved them all: from the main protagonists to the secondary characters and the evil ones. Jonathan is sweet, smart, has a complex backstory and a lot of character development; Dacian is elegant, intelligent, fascinating, and his story is the most interesting of all; Fiona is simply the best friend that everyone could ask for, and she's extremely kind and brave.
The dark academia / gothic atmosphere elevates the setting and the story itself, and it fits the story very well, expecially if we consider all the references to gothic literature and classics.
The writing style is simple and yet fascinating, the chapters have multiple povs and their lenght is just right (in my opinion).
Trigger warnings: the story talks about suicide, bullies, homicide, dark rituals, blood, homophobia. ⚠️

*thanks NetGalley for the arc*
All thoughts are mine as usual.
It’s my second book by this author and like Us et cetera I really enjoyed it ! As a twilight and vampire knight(we don’t judge) girlie I grew up reading and loving about vampire so when I heard about Love immortal I knew I had to get itttt.
Was it the best book about vampire ? Probably not.
Did I still swoon really hard ? Hell yeah.
We follow Jonathan a student who’s been struggling with his past and his life in general. He’s a gay student who was abandoned by his family when he got outed so he’s very lonely. His only real relationship is with Fiona his bff, we love her. The new year is starting and he meet with his new gothic literature who seems to hate him for no reasons…
Add to this a series of missing persons and strange murders et voilà!
Love immortal is a super quick, fast paced read and it satisfied the vampire nerd in me.
The writing was great and the characters were interesting, if not somehow easy at times. The romance was cute but maaaaaybe I would have preferred if it was more developed and less insta link.
Anyway, I read it in one day and if you want to read a book about queer vampire I would recommend this !
