Are Amelia and Willow truly best friends, or are they frenemies? The girls embark on a road trip to put the final touches to their book. But when they go missing, their mothers, Tracey and Candace, are filled with worry.
When only one of the girls returns, suspicions arise, and shocking truths are uncovered. The book's first part was full of suspense that kept me hooked, but the story dragged on in the middle, and the ending wasn't my favorite.
Despite this, I did appreciate the unexpected twist. Overall, it was a quick and enjoyable book, and I finished it in just one day. The audio narration was also well done. I'm grateful to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the ALC!
4.5 stars?!? Loooove Ellery and loved this book!
I thought the plot was great, not too long, with good twists and turns, plenty of drama. I truly did not see the ending coming and ate it up, especially the epilogue.
You get attached to every character and really feel for all of them, without knowing who did what.
I listened and loved it as an audiobook. The narrator did a fantastic job with the characters and story.
Thank you to Ellery, Bookouture, and netgalley for a copy of this audiobook!!
This one is told from a mothers and daughters point of view. It was a bit of a slow burn and felt a little dragged out. How the story unfolded worked well but for the last 1/4 of the listen I felt it just got ridiculous and unbelievable and it completely lost my interest. This one was ok but the outcome was just that bit to unbelievable.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review #MyMissingDaughter
I initially struggled with the narrators tone, but after adjusting the speed slightly I felt it was much easier to listen too at 1.25/ 1.5 speed.
Willow and Amelia head off on a road trip and want to write crime/ thriller novels and the scene is set from the first chapter with ominous weather setting the tone when their renovated school bus is returned to Tracey (Willow's Mum) with no sign of the girls on the board and hasn't heard from them for several days.
The story is written from POV of the 2 Mother's (who come from very different backgrounds) regarding the disappearance of their girls. I had a preferred character/ point of view by the end, but I think that is natural to prefer one side of the story to the other!
Despite jumping straight in to the fact the girls are missing in chapter one, I felt it took a good few chapters to really ramp it up, but there were some good twists keeping you guessing and making you suspicious of several characters right up to the very end.
The blurb of this book caught my attention and seemed like it would be a good read. The narrator did a really good job at portraying the characters and was very fast paced. This had some predictable and also unpredictable twists also and overall a good read. Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for this audio arc.
My Missing Daughter delivers edge-of-your-seat suspense, gripping twists and turns, and relatable characters. The description of the book really sucked me in. Two girls mysteriously go missing on a road trip. It is a race against time to unravel the mystery and figure out what happened to the girls. While I enjoyed this novel, there were many times I felt it would be better suited for a young adult/teen audience. Some of the writing felt a bit juvenile, though, not in a negative way. If you like your thrillers and mysteries to be more easy listening but still gripping, this one's for you. Fans of Freida McFadden will like this one!
Huge thanks to Bookouture Audio for providing this audiobook for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own. Thank you to Ellery Kane for writing such a wonderful book.

19 year old bff’s Willow & Amelia take a bus on a road trip to work on a novel they are writing together. When the bus is brought back to Chicago by someone working for task rabbit, without the girls, their mother’s, Tracy & Candice, are obviously concerned.
The before timeline has us along for the ride with the girls as they get themselves into some scary situations. My mama heart was pounding frantically here and there and I had to tell my daughter to remember to always make smart choices.
In the now we follow Tracy as she desperately tries to get in touch Willow. When Amelia shows up alone the tension is in overdrive. This mama wants answers and she will not stop until she has them.
Overall, I can't say I was surprised about how it all played out, but it was really fast paced with some suspenseful moments.
Narration notes:
She did a great job differentiating her voices, but a 2nd narrator would have been nice since the ages of the characters are 20 years apart. The various emotions were perfect though.
4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Back home, a mother’s pov is full of worry and wants the truth. Where is her daughter!? Why only one person came back!? Is she the one to blame?
✨ this is an amazing story to read for someone who is new on mystery thriller book. It was light and easy fast paced. The narrator on this book is a great add on to the story.

3.5* The premise of this book captured my attention right away... two childhood friends on a road trip in their renovated school bus. When the bus returns to town without them in it, the questions, the mysteries and the secrets all commence.
This story carried my attention throughout, especially with the talented narrator, navigating all the different characters with ease. The reader gets the perspective of each of the girls as they travel and even before they leave, as well as the moms, the investigator, a well-known college professor, an ex and more. The social media community even chimes in, as they will, since the girls are posting their journey to travel and write a book together. Emotions run high as the missing daughter's mother struggles to uncover clues as she unwittingly gets tangled in the web.
There are some twists and turns, some unpredictable and some not, but I was anxious to find out what would happen next. A fun read!
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARL. All opinions are mine.
This was a face pasted domestic thriller - it went into areas which were unusual but I loved it and was captivated. Although I could work out how it was going to end the joy of a good story is getting there. That it did in spades.
The two different families and points of view added a spice to the story.
The narration worked really well. and kept me intrigued.
BFFs Willow and Amelia are on a van trip hoping for some quality time to finish the book they are writing together. But when I hired driver delivers the van to Willow’s mom without the girls she starts to panic. Then Amelia shows up by HERSELF. What?! In dual timelines between the present and the road trip, which we really was successful in building the tension.
No matter how hard you try to keep secrets, they always get revealed and wreck havoc in the process!
So good. RECOMMEND. Love the audiobook version!
Thank you #NetGalley for the complimentary copy of #MyMissing Daughter in exchange for an honest review.
The story kicks off with a heart-stopping moment when an RV arrives at Tracy’s front door, but her daughter is nowhere to be found. The narrative then delves into a mother’s tireless quest to find her daughter, while gradually revealing the hidden aspects of her daughter's life.
This book provided a solid, engaging read that drew me into its depths. The story is streamlined, focusing on just a few main characters, which enhances the mystery and ensures every detail contributes meaningfully to the narrative. Exploring themes of fame, friendship, revenge, and a mother’s relentless love, this novel weaves a compelling tapestry of human emotions and suspense.
I did not enjoy the narration of this story, which often became a little melodramatic.
The story was good but a little odd. None of the characters were likeable and the action a tad unbelievable. However, I quite enjoyed the story of the two girls, their road trip, and the awful adults in their lives.
The idea for this book was compelling, and I was interested from the start. Unfortunately, it fell short. There are times that it felt repetitive and that the chapters were longer than necessary. Because of this it’s hard to maintain focus, so I had to keep refocusing to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
There were elements of the twist that did surprise me, however I think the villain becomes obvious quite early on.
I listened to this on audio, which was narrated well and was a good speed and tone.
My Missing Daughter
Thank you so much to Ellery Kane, @netgalley and @bookouture for the opportunity to read the book and listen to the audiobook!
I thought I was so clever and had figured this whole thing out — damn was I wrong!!! This for sure got me.
I loved the multiple POVs and timelines. We hear from the mother of the missing daughter, the daughter on her road trip with her best friend and the daughter when she is missing. This road trip was no ordinary road trip, and these twists were no ordinary twists.
I really enjoyed reading and mostly listening to the audio. I thought the narrators did an amazing job of conveying the fear, anxiety and thoughts on this crazy journey.

This was unfortunately not one of my favorite reads by this author. Two young women go on a cross country trip on a bus. But only one returns. Interesting premise but the storyline ended up feeling dragged out and repetitive.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Loved this audiobook. It was a great suspense book that kept me guessing throughout. Good characters and great narration as well. Phenomenal audiobook.
I enjoyed this book, I finished in about a day. It was interesting and fast paced but a bit all over the place in parts. I would suggest for anyone looking for a quick mindless thriller. I will say that several times in the audiobook when a character laughs the narrator does a very creepy imitation of laughter , it really bothered me and took me out of the story.

Story is told now and then from the POV of Willow and her mother Tracy
Then ~ Nineteen year old Willow and Amelia are best friends and have been writing a book they hope will be a best seller. It is about a road so they decided to go on a road trip to edit the book and finalize the story.
Willow’s mother Tracy does restorations’ and when she find an old yellow school bus for sale she knows exactly what she wants to do. When the girls see the bus turned into a camper they are super excited and are ready for their road trip.
Now they are missing.
Now ~The mothers -Tracy and Candace have been friends since the girls were young and they have to do their own investigating. One mother is desperate to find her daughter and the other is desperate to protect hers.
This story immediately got my attention, and then it became so slow and was a struggle for me to stick with it. The characters were unlikeable- the mothers Tracy, Candace plus Ron were not only unlikeable but definitely unhinged. I thought the Social Media connections were good but g always listing all the hashtags got annoying.
I was curious so I hung in there and the ending saved it for me.
About the Author ~ Ellery Kane lives in the San Francisco Bay area and is a Forensic psychologist by day, novelist by night, she has been writing--professionally and creatively--for as long as she can remember. Just like many of her main characters, Ellery loves to ask why, which is the reason she became a psychologist in the first place. Real life really is stranger than fiction, and Ellery's writing is often inspired by her day job.
This is my fourth Ellery Kane.. I loved her psychological thriller [book: The House Sitter]
