A lovely hot romance with amazing lead characters. It jumps backwards and forwards a lot so you need to keep an eye out at the start of every chapter, but it really helps the story unfold.
A really great read
I enjoyed reading Snapshot by Kay Cove. You will fall in love with all the characters. I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely. Happy Reading!
Snapshot by K. Cove is the second book in the Lessons in Love Series. The previous book is Camera Shy and I recommend to read the books in order.
This is Lennox and Dex' heartfelt, warm and passionate story. A story that gives all the feels. Gives the reader a peak in their minds and feelings, a wonderful story.
Blurb: Be loud. Lean in. Take your seat at the head of the table. I want the whole room to know that when my wife speaks, it’s time to sit down and listen.
Thanks to my reckless roommate, I’m about two skips away from being homeless. Temp jobs aren’t paying the bills, and now I have to cancel the scuba diving trip I can no longer afford.
At least I’ll be spared from my instructor’s tempting smile and rock-hard abs. Dex is wonderful, but he’s only ever treated me like a friend…a really good friend. In fact, when he hears I’m having money problems, he comes up with a way we can help each other.
In a clever scheme to ensure her jaded, love-doubting grandson didn’t end up alone, Dex’s grandma left her company to Dex’s…wife. Except he isn’t married. Until me, that is.
Now I’m suddenly the CEO and majority shareholder of a billion-dollar cruise corporation. I’m unprepared, and the sharks in the boardroom are scarier than the great whites in the water. But the plan is simple. Play the part for a year, hand the company back over to Dex, then get divorced. Easy. In exchange, I’ll never have to worry about money again.
But it’s not long before I realize the company is in danger and a lot of people need my help. And now that I’m acting like the boss, there’s a look in Dex’s eyes I’ve never seen before. Something more than friendly… Because when he calls me “wife” lately, it doesn't seem like it's for show.

Yes.
Do I have any regrets?
Absolutely NONE!
Dex and Lennox were a gift and I will forever cherish them. And Dottie. My goodness, my heart is a field of daisies 😭😭😭
My first of many books by Kay Cove.
This is a precious gem you must read.
Thank you for this ARC @authorkaycove and @netgalley 🖤
It was exactly what I needed when I needed.
Snapshot is book two in the Lessons in Love series by Kay Cove.
I loved book one Camera Shy. And was eager to jump into book two.
This steamy marriage of convenience romance was a phenomenal story.
This book was SO good. Literally couldn't put it down from the beginning! Once I got closer to the end I didn't want to pick it back up...not wanting it to be done!
Thank You NetGalley and Page & Vine for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
I liked everything about this book. Great mix of tropes. Friends to lovers, a (sort of) fake relationship, a rich guy pretending to be a “normal” guy, intrigue, & family secrets. As if that’s not enough, it also hit me w/a little corporate espionage. Couldn’t put it down.
Lennox & Dec are easy to like from the start. They’re even better when they’re together. Their funny banter makes the book. There are also some great supporting characters. Some are helpful to our couple, others…
not so much.
I couldn’t wait to get Dottie’s full story. It had me intrigued & a little heartbroken from the start. The letters really got me. Loved the epilogue.
Thanks to the publisher for allowing me to read an advance copy via NetGalley. It was the first time reading a book by the author, & now I’m off to grab the first book in the series.
I really enjoyed this story! This was about a guy who is going to be taking charge of a company, but before he can do so there is a clause that he has to be married and let his wife run the company for a year before he can take over. So he asks his best friend to marry him because she is the only person he trusts not to run the company into the ground and to then hand the company back over to him in a year. But as soon as they are married, it opens the floodgates and they both confess the feelings they've both been holding back from each other their whole friendship. This was such a a good read! This was the sequel to the book I just read last week, Camera Shy. The third book is planned to come out in 2025 and I am excited to read it! 🩵📚
Thank you to the author and to the publisher for this ARC of Snapshot, in exchange for an honest review.
Dex and Lennox were friends for 3 years, but there was a connection between them from the beginning.
After Dex’s grandmother dies and leaves the company to his spouse, they decide to get married. I like a grandma that helps her nephew find love.
Even if they did not want to ruin the friendship before, after the wedding they did not pretend and the relationship was real. The change seemed a bit too fast and they skipped a lot of steps between friends and marriage.
There is also some family, work drama and other problems along the way, but they manage to go through it together.
If you like steamy friends to lovers, marriage of convenience romances where he is a secret billionaire, this is for you.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
"I just want to rub up against his body like a cat and make him my favourite scratching post."
“Do you understand me? Love, love, love. Fight for it. Obsess over it. It’s the only thing that makes sense at the end of your life. How do I get you to understand that? You should have loyalty to absolutely nothing else except love.”
Let me tell you, this was a glass of cold water on a hot day! I've had a run of heavy reads recently and desperately needed a palate cleanser. I wasn't planning to read this book so soon but I was GASPING for a warm hearted read, and boy oh boy did this book come through for me.
Starting off the one liners in this book are actually so funny without ever feeling like it's trying too hard to be funny. I'm obsessed with Lennox, she is hands down one of the best MFC's I have read in a long long time. I was obsessed with her one liners, POV's, back story, love for Dex and everything in between. She was so likeable and I would love to be friends with her. And Dex? Dex is the dream man. Funny, cute, sweet, handsome, RIIIICHHHH? Where can I get me a Dex? I joke....but kinda not really?
Friends to lovers normally falls a bit flat for me, leaves me with a distinct feeling of * meh * . Never quite hitting the spot the same way other romances do, but this friends to lovers may be one of the sweetest ones I've read so far. Make this the blue print. Lennox and Dex had me damn near kicking up my feet, twiddling my hair and giggling. I absolutely loved how they communicated throughout this entire book even through any turbulance. Their friendship never waivered, and their respect and patience for eachother was really lovely to read.
Don't even start me on the marriage of convenience (I'm a sucker for this), a secret billionaire and a delicious blend of spice. All they needed to do is add in the single dad trope and I would have been falling to my knees and praying.
My one negative comment on this book is that the progression from friends to lovers gave me whiplash. After years of pining and jealousy and friendship it seemed like an incredibly quick transition into okay, lets do this. That seemed a little unrealistic to me.
Now, don't let my review fool you into thinking this is all cute fun and games. The beautiful thing about this book is that it isn't just a cute romance read. There's also deep themes of loss, love, lies, deceit and grief. This all blends into the story to make a perfect concoction of romantic fiction.
Have I sold you on this book yet? Because I can continue....
Thank you NetGalley for the free ARC ❤️
If you like to read friends to lovers with marriage of convenience then you should try this ~
I liked this book a lot. I was quite hooked on the plot. The description of Miami and Vegas, the chemistry between the MCs, and the mystery were quite on point. I felt like crying while reading the letters Dottie wrote to Jacob. The plot was a bit draggy at a few points. Overall, this book is quite a nice experience.
This is an ARC read which is exchanged with an honest review.
You don’t get a love story with this book…..you get two.
Dex has always been his grandmother Dottie’s favorite. He has no real competition seeing that he has no cousins, aunts or uncles, and he lost his mom when he was 7. So it made sense that Dottie would make Dex the CEO of her company. A company she acquired from her husband, who she loved, but wasn’t the love of her life. Except upon Dottie’s passing, Dex discovers he isn’t just afforded the CEO position. No, it will go to his wife. Just like it did with Dottie herself…except, Dex isn’t married. He’s not even dating someone. His longest relationship is his friendship with Lennox.
In this story, we are afforded the great love stories of two couples. Dottie and her lost love. And Dex and his best friend, who he has always loved, but kept at a distance.
The way Kay wrote this entangled love affair was so captivating and heart warming yet still managed to keep some fun spice and a bit of a mystery.
I am so happy I got the chance to read this before the vast majority of people. But I highly recommend everyone read this.
Snapshot by Kay Cove is a friends to lovers, billionaire romance with lots of spice, corporate intrigue, and family drama caused by decades-old secrets. The plot and characters are well written. There are multiple timelines, POVs, and settings; Miami and Las Vegas feature heavily in the narrative. This is the first book by Kay Cove that I have read and I will definitely now be reading more by this author.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the chance to read and review this e=galley.
Thank you Netgalley and team for approving me for this ARC! I hurried up and downloaded and read the first book, Camera Shy. I already really liked Dex from book 1. We didn't get a lot of him but he intrigued me right off the bat. Getting a book on him and Lennox was amazing. I loved learning about the grandmother and the family dynamic was really good. I really enjoy Kay Coves writing and will definitely read more of her books!!
If Kay Cove writes it I just know it's going to be so good. Snapshot is the second book in the ‘Lessons in Love’ series but can absolutely be read as a standalone. If you are after a fun, steamy book with lots of depth, timeline jumps, and familial twists and turns, then this is the perfect read for you.
I absolutely love a friends-to-lovers romance. And ‘Snapshot’ is all that with a bonus twist of secret billionaire / marriage of convenience. From the moment Dex and Lennox met I was rooting for them to get together, their connection is palpable and I just love them together.
For three years these two constrained each other to the friendzone, and thought their feelings were both one sided. Dex finds out he needs a wife to take over as CEO and there is no one he trusts more than Lennox, things start to steam up when they marry and realise there is far more than just good friendship between them.
The writing was so good and I felt so connected to all the characters, we even get snippets of Grandma Dottie and her own love story. The drama kept me hooked and on the edge of my seat, and the surprises left me so shocked.
This was such a great follow up to ‘Camera Shy’, and I would definitely recommend giving it a read!
I love the marriage of convenience trope so I knew I wanted to pick this up. I’m glad I did because I really enjoyed this story.
I found it romantic, steamy and full of great characters.
I liked the romance a lot. It was so romantic! I definitely swooned.
Would recommend! Can be read as a standalone.
This book is a great combination of friends to lovers with a billionaire twist! Lennox is an absolute agent of chaos with a heart of gold. Dex is a wealthy guy who is living his best life finally having made a true friend in Lennox.
But when Dex inherits his family’s billion dollar company after his grandmother’s passing, he needs Lennox’s help. To secure the company, he needs to have his wife takeover. But when Dex and Lennon get married and realize that they’d both been feeling the same way for years, things heat up.
When their opposite worlds collide, these two lean into each other to ride out the challenges they face. As you venture through new love with Dex and Lennox, the love story of Dex’ grandmother Dottie also unfolds.
Told through shifting point of view and multiple timelines, this story is a beautiful follow up to Camera Shy! An excellent read if you’re interested in something fun and spicy!
Actual Rating: 3.5 Stars
Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
Snapshot follows Lennox whose down on her luck having just lost her job and struggling to get by. But when her best friend of three years offers her the deal of a lifetime, she finds herself drawn not only to him but the love that he could provide.
This book had me hooked from the first page and I found that I really flew through it when I was reading it. I thought the first half of this book was interesting but the second half was a little slower for me. I felt like the "conflict" that was created in this book was wrapped up a little too easily and I wasn't as invested in the second half.
My biggest problem I had with this book was the lack of research when it comes to Las Vegas and locals living in Las Vegas. It seemed this book only boiled Las Vegas down to the Strip (which most locals avoid) and the cheesy nature of the city. One line about people who live in Vegas always being "drunk or on drugs or a combo of both" particularly bothered me as that is not the case. Locals in Vegas have a life and it felt disrespectful to those who live in the city and the surrounding areas. It was clear the research of local life, the town, and the surrounding areas could have been fleshed out more. It was a very stereotyped view of Las Vegas locals that I wish was fleshed out more.
I did like Lennox at first as a heroine but she really became placid in her life after she gets together with Dex. While the spicy scenes were well written and interesting to read, outside of it she was really just stumbling along and hoping Dex would fix everything. I liked that Dex also has a panic disorder but again, it didn't feel as fleshed out.
Like I said, the plot of this book just seemed to wrap up super quickly and I didn't find that i was invested in the second half. It was like we got the "villain's" monologue, then it was quickly solved by one thing and all was well and happy.
I wanted to love this book and thought it was going to be a solid read at first but in the end, it was not for me. I do encourage you to pick it up though if you are at all interested in the premise of this book.
I liked Dex and Lennox. A little too steamy for me at times but I loved the family dynamic and learning about his grandma and the family. It was my first book by Kay but it won’t be my last. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
I really enjoyed this book! Friends to lovers to marriage of convenience just hit perfectly.
Dex and Lennox were both secretly pining over each other and I adored the journey they took to get to their HEA. What I liked most was that no matter the obstacle they faced, they faced it TOGETHER.
This story was so good—no third act break up, some found family and spice steaming up the pages!
This is a wonderful storyline with awesome characters. Lennox is a lovable quirky and klutzy character. Dex is a sexy young billionaire. The story is set across three years and is told in dual timelines in the first person by the two main characters. The plot looks at the family dynamics and the romance that blossoms. It also gets really steamy between the two. The dialogue is witty and easy to read. There will be surprises that will keep the readers focused and reading to the very end.
