Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read an early copy then review. This was a new author for me and it was quite steamy. Lennox and Dex are best friends and suddenly Dex need a wife. She will become CEO of his family’s company for a year and then he will be able to take over. There are lots of twists and turns and so much scheming going on. Will best friends fall in love and will it last? Enjoy!

I truly appreciated how the friendship between the characters transformed into something deeper. It’s fascinating to see such a strong bond evolve, and it made me reflect on the nature of relationships in our own lives. While I might not agree with all the reasons that drove their choices, I found myself fully invested in the characters and their experiences.

The characters themselves were beautifully crafted, and I felt a genuine connection to them. Their emotions were relatable, and I found myself breathing with them through their ups and downs. Even when their decisions felt questionable, I admired their growth and the struggles they faced. It’s a reminder of how complex human relationships can be, which added a layer of depth to the story.

The writing style also drew me in. The author’s ability to convey emotion and tension kept me engaged throughout. The journey of these characters was compelling, and I appreciated how their friendship laid the groundwork for something more. Overall, this exploration of friendship evolving into love was beautifully done, leaving me with a sense of fulfillment and curiosity about their future.

First of all i am grateful for netgalley and the publisher for giving me a chance to read and know this wonderful book as an arc.

I picked this book because of the bestfriends and marriage tropes, but i am glad i was introduced to the wonderful story and characters. At first i wasn't sure why this was called "snapshot" but reading thru the end, it made sense.

I can't even begin to explain how utterly amazing it is to resonate with different characters at once. I cried so hard at the car scene with Lennox and her father and til the end i find myself to be like Dottie. Forever pining for another man, while living a half life. I hope i had not yet passed by the chance to have my fate, but it it comes down like Jacob's missing his love and dying not knowing for the rest of his life and Dottie writing amd documenting glimpses on her life only to know she's too late, i think i see my future in them, but in the unrequited sense of it.

I loved how everything closed in this book. For every problem created, it was closed off well. Ofc there are those moments of frustration with Len'a loose lips, with Kat and Denny. But mygosh, the arc of the characters and the heart of Lennox and him to forgive Denny ans give kat a chance. That was wonderful. Another bestfriends to lover book to add to my favorites, i think i need to see book 1 now that i see glimpses of how much heart there is to the story

Dex is about to inherit a Fortune 500 company. But there is one stipulation. Has has to be married for a year. Having secretly been in love with his best friend for years he asks her. What he doesn't realize is that she has also been in love with him. This is a wonderful story about a couple starting life together.

I really enjoyed this book! It was almost everything I had wanted for Lennox’s story! But, I couldn’t help but notice small similarities to the first book. It didn’t put me off that much, but I do feel like those parts could have been switched up even just a little bit. Other than that though, I really did enjoy this story! I ate it up!

A beautifully written story about friendship, regrets, life, and love.

I couldn’t get enough of this beautiful story. I was completely smitten with Dottie, Lennox, Dex, and even Jacob who was basically written completely off page. I was bawling one minute and chuckling the next. I was so engrossed within this world that I kept losing track of time and honestly I was okay with never returning to reality. I was truly touched by Kay's talent for writing engaging characters and considering this was the first book I've read by her, I'm now a total fan.

"How quickly my friend can go from a fantasy to my most important reality."

The beautiful words and thoughts that both Dex and Lennox share for each other are some of the best quotes I think I've ever highlighted within a book. I melted and fell in love over and over again with this couple. It wasn't just the fact that these two fell for one another, it was that they stood by each other's side, stood up for one another, and loved each other hard. I'm talking about soul deep, no questions, love every flaw...I take that back...they didn't see flaws- only beautiful imperfections that made each other unique. It's beautiful and lovely and something that every person should strive for.

Snapshot was a privilege to read and I can’t wait to dive back in to another Kay Cove book and fall in love with her wonderful worlds and characters again.

Thanks to NetGalley & Victory Editing for access to this book!

I cannot put into words how much I loved this book and this couple! We met Lennox and Dex’s characters in Camera Shy, but we were not prepared for their epic love story!

🩵Billionaire romance
🩵Secret billionaire
🩵Friends to lovers
🩵Marriage of convenience
🩵Obsessed MMC
🩵Bad*** FMC

Lennox and Dex met at a house party three years ago and the connection between them was instant! In an effort to save any future heartache, they decided to stay friends.

Now Dex is in a situation where he needs a wife and Lennox is the only person he can trust for the job. What she doesn’t know if that her life is going to be turned upside down when she goes from homeless and jobless to married to one of the richest men in the world.

The deep rooted, soulmate kind of love that these two have is something to be admired. Their friendship is so special, but their marriage is top level. When they decide to move forward with the marriage, things instantly changed for them and I loved that. Usually we have to wait for them to fall in love, but these characters could not hold it in anymore and I freaking LOVED that!

Spencer was a fantastic side character and even though we only saw her for a little bit, I just know that there’s a story there to be told and I can’t wait to read it.

4.5⭐️

Snapshot is the second book of the Lessons In Love series but can be read as a standalone but. This is Dex and Lennox’s story and it was absolutely beautiful to watch these two become friends and fall in love. Dex’s grandmother, Dottie, decides that Dex is working too much and send him to run a dive shop and to take a break from the corporate world. While there he meets Lennox and even though they have a strong connection they put each other in the friend zone. A few years later Dex’s grandmother passes away and she has left her company to Dex’s wife…except he doesn’t have one. This is where the marriage of convenience comes in. There is only one person he would trust enough to marry and that is Lennox.

I loved everything about this book! I loved getting snippets of Dottie and Jacob’s story throughout and watching Lennox and Dex’s relationship grow. It was heartbreaking in some places but also absolutely beautiful. And I loved that there was no third act break up! There is banter, angst, heartbreak, spice, hidden identity, found family and so much more! If you haven’t started this series yet then I highly recommend that you do! You won’t regret it!

This book was the definition of unpredictable and tense.

From the beginning I had no idea which way the story was going to go.

First of all there isn’t much I love more than when he’s obsessed with her that’s always a check plus for me

Then on top of it there was so much drama but it was suspenseful, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and then when it dropped….

So many emotions

But Kay Cove definitely showed extreme talent in writing romantic and healthy relationships.

I loved that one of the major conflicts was everyone else and not their relationship

A bit steamier than I expected but an oh so adorable book that was hard to put down. Hadn’t read the previous one but had no trouble keeping up. Love it!

This was EVERYTHING. Had all my favorite tropes, friends to lovers, marriage of convenience, banter for days, angst, spice and just all the good things. It was well written and I truly loved reading about both couples.

Kay’s writing made me fall in love with the characters. Dottie is an inspiration to all female leaders, she lead with her heart first and gained the respect that she deserved. Dex has big shoes to fill but he quickly realizes that he can’t do it alone. Can his best friend truly be his love of his life? Does she have the same feelings? This book has the perfect level of spice, romance, greed, and desire.

Spice: 🌶🌶🌶🌶

I loved Dex and Lennox's story!

From the first page with a glimpse of the past to the last page into their future and everything in between. Snapshot pulled at those heartstrings when friends become something more and when they see each for who they truly are no matter how much they have or don't have. I enjoyed having both POV's from the first time Dex and Lennox meet to present day and what ends up instead being a marriage of convenience to a confession of how they both felt for each since the beginning. In the end you see that it is not just a love story about Dex and Lennox but also a way to right a lost love with lessons learned from past family members. Snapshot makes you swoon, laugh and just fall for these two with some spice in the mix. And there is a glimpse of the next FMC and I can already tell she will be amazing, which I can't wait for!

I recommend this and definitely a top read for the month!

Kay Cove didn't miss with the second book in the Lessons in Love series. This marriage of convenience is also one of the best friends to lovers books I've read.

Dex is the ultimate book boyfriend. As Lennox's friend he does so much for her, but as her husband he does absolutely everything he can for her. I love how Dex puts her first and makes that known.

Lennox is a sweet and caring character. Loyal to a fault to the people she loves and will do anything for them. My only complaint about this book is I wanted more for her.

The addition of Dottie's backstory will have you emotional as you watch her history unfold.

Throughout this whole book Dex and Lennox are a team, and you see that bond that can only be created from friendship. If you've been waiting for Dex and Lennox's story since Snapshot you will not be disappointed.

This is book was amazing. The rollercoaster of emotions. I went from feeling frustrated to happy to literally tears in my ears with sadness. Dex and Lennox have such chemistry and a bond that was strong from the beginning. It wasn't smooth sailing but I loved that it wasn't the typical 3rd act breakup. Such a great read!

Kay Cove’s Snapshot: Lessons in Love delivers a passionate and heartfelt romance, intertwining the thrill of a high-stakes marriage of convenience with the deeper exploration of love, ambition, and personal growth. The story dives into the tangled lives of two friends whose seemingly practical arrangement evolves into an unexpected, emotional journey.

The plot centers on Dex, a billionaire suddenly faced with the stipulation that his grandmother’s cruise company can only be his if he’s married. Enter Lennox, his long-time friend struggling with financial uncertainty, who agrees to pose as his wife for a year. What starts as a calculated plan to secure the business quickly unravels into something much more intense as they navigate not only the demands of a corporate empire but also the growing romantic tension that threatens to blur the lines between make-believe and reality.

The dynamic between Dex and Lennox crackles with chemistry from the very beginning. Cove masterfully creates a slow-burn connection, rich in flirtation and lingering glances, that pulls readers in. Their transition from friends to something deeper feels genuine, with every shared moment revealing the evolving layers of their bond. The individual character arcs are equally compelling, as Dex transforms from a carefree bachelor into someone confronting the weight of his family legacy, while Lennox steps into her power, rising to the challenge of leading a billion-dollar company.

The novel’s strength lies in its ability to tackle themes of self-esteem and defying expectations. Both characters struggle with doubts—Dex with living up to his grandmother’s legacy and Lennox with proving herself in a world that questions her capabilities. Their personal growth adds depth to the story, making their relationship journey all the more satisfying. The corporate drama also plays a key role, raising the stakes and allowing Lennox’s resilience to shine as she faces off against boardroom politics.

For those who enjoy romance with substance, Snapshot: Lessons in Love offers a perfect blend of passion, plot twists, and empowerment. The steamy moments are tastefully crafted, enhancing the emotional intensity without overshadowing the story’s heartfelt message. With witty dialogue and a layered narrative, Cove brings to life a story where love isn’t just about desire but about finding strength and courage in the face of life’s complexities.

Overall, Snapshot: Lessons in Love is a captivating read that satisfies on multiple levels—romance, intrigue, and personal transformation. It’s a book for anyone who enjoys a love story where the heat is matched by depth and the stakes are sky-high.

A huge thanks to NetGalley and Victory Editing for providing this steamy romance's digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest opinions.

Book Review: Snapshot: Lessons in Love (Book #2) by Kay Cove

Kay Cove’s Snapshot: Lessons in Love is the epitome of the "marriage of convenience" trope done right. With a sizzling romance, clever banter, and enough drama to keep you glued to the pages, it’s a steamy, high-stakes ride that explores not just love, but loyalty, ambition, and trust. The second book in Cove’s Snapshot series delivers everything fans of contemporary romance crave—delicious tension, compelling characters, and a plot that keeps twisting, refusing to settle into predictability.

Plot Overview
At the heart of the story is Dex and the protagonist (who serves as the book’s narrator), two friends whose lives become irrevocably tangled when Dex proposes an unexpected, life-altering plan. The narrator, struggling to make ends meet after her reckless roommate leaves her high and dry, is ready to cancel her much-anticipated scuba diving trip and is barely scraping by on temp jobs. But then, her charming, too-good-to-be-just-a-friend instructor Dex steps in with an outrageous idea—marry him.

It turns out Dex’s grandmother left him a billion-dollar cruise corporation, but there’s a catch: the company’s control is bequeathed not to him but to his wife. The only problem? Dex isn’t married. Enter the narrator, his friend, who becomes his “wife” in a marriage of convenience that’s supposed to last a year. It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement that’ll secure both of their futures—she’ll get financial stability, and Dex will reclaim his company.

But nothing is ever that simple. Once the narrator steps into the role of CEO, the stakes get higher. She’s suddenly thrown into a boardroom full of corporate sharks more dangerous than the great whites she was planning to dive with. As she learns the ropes of running a billion-dollar empire, she also begins to realize that there’s more to this company—and to Dex—than she ever anticipated.

Character Dynamics
The beauty of Snapshot: Lessons in Love lies in how it plays with the blurred line between friendship and romance. Dex and the narrator have an effortless, natural chemistry that makes their journey from friends to lovers all the more satisfying. Cove knows how to craft the slow-burn tension that’s so vital to a fake relationship story. From the very first page, it’s clear there’s an undeniable spark between the two, even though they both try to pretend otherwise.

Dex is the quintessential charming hero, a man who’s protective, driven, and confident in his ability to navigate life—until his grandmother’s company drops into his lap and he needs the narrator's help. His evolution throughout the novel is one of its highlights. He starts as a friend offering a business deal, but as the stakes get higher—both emotionally and professionally—his character deepens. He transitions from being the laid-back, fun-loving friend to a man grappling with responsibility, power, and, unexpectedly, love.

The narrator is a relatable, strong-willed heroine who is thrust into an unfamiliar world of boardroom politics and corporate strategy. Her growth is compelling, as she starts out unprepared and uncertain but soon rises to the occasion. Watching her take the reins, despite the constant underestimation she faces from those around her, is truly satisfying. Cove doesn’t just show her falling in love; she shows her growing into her own power, proving that she’s more than capable of handling the pressure of a billion-dollar empire.

Themes and Emotional Depth
While Snapshot: Lessons in Love is definitely a romance at its core, it also tackles some deeper themes that make it more than just a fluffy love story. One of the central motifs is the idea of self-worth and the fear of being underestimated. Both Dex and the narrator deal with the weight of expectations, Dex from his family’s legacy and the board members, and the narrator from a world that’s constantly questioning her capability. As their relationship shifts from one of convenience to something real, the story also becomes one about empowerment, trust, and finding the courage to take control of your own destiny.

Another interesting layer is the exploration of corporate politics. While that might sound dry, Cove weaves it into the romance so seamlessly that it adds to the stakes. The threat to the company isn’t just a backdrop; it’s a real problem that the narrator has to solve, and in doing so, she finds her place not just in Dex’s world but in the world of high-level business.

The story also highlights the idea of legacy—how much we owe to our family, and whether we have the right to forge our own path. Dex’s grandmother, even in her absence, looms large as a character, having set into motion the events that force her grandson to confront his own emotions. The business isn’t just a financial asset; it’s a representation of Dex’s ties to his family and the challenge of living up to their expectations.

Romance and Steam
If you came for the steamy romance, you won’t be disappointed. Cove masterfully builds tension between Dex and the narrator, with every look, every touch, and every casual use of “wife” igniting more than just friendly affection. The intimacy in this novel isn’t rushed; instead, it’s drawn out in a way that makes every moment feel earned. From the fake relationship facade to the very real emotional entanglements, the push and pull between Dex and the narrator keeps you invested. When the line between pretend and real begins to blur, it’s nothing short of electric.

There’s a certain sweetness to their romance as well. Despite the external pressures, the core of their relationship is rooted in genuine care and mutual respect. It’s refreshing to see a romance where the characters not only burn for each other but also bring out the best in one another. Their love story feels organic, even amidst the whirlwind of scandal, power plays, and corporate drama.

Final Thoughts
Snapshot: Lessons in Love is a perfect blend of heart-pounding romance, corporate intrigue, and personal growth. Kay Cove doesn’t just deliver a classic fake marriage romance; she infuses it with wit, depth, and a strong sense of female empowerment. The chemistry between Dex and the narrator is palpable from the start, and their journey from friends to lovers is as emotional as it is passionate. If you’re a fan of contemporary romance with a side of scandal, steamy tension, and a dash of high-stakes business drama, this book will be hard to put down.

In short, this novel is a must-read for anyone who loves a romance where the stakes are high and the heat is even higher.
