3 great books with Joe Swain and Pippa Durant. What starts off as a physiologist helping out the police force turns into more with lots of suspense along the way
I love a good Miranda Risks book and eat a joy three in one ARC. Loved these. Flew through them. Thanks for the opportunity to review
This series by Miranda Rijks includes three titles with the main characters being Dr. Pippa Durrant, a psychologist who can detect when people are lying, and Detective Joe Swain. Dr. Durrant is pleased when the police want to use her to help determine the truthfulness of suspects' accounts, but then annoyed when her opinions are ignored. The interaction between police and civilians is complicated by her developing relationship with Detective Swain. An overarching theme in all the books is Dr. Durrant's empathy with people who have lost a child, because she is in that situation as well.
I have read several titles by this author and would gladly read more. They are always suspenseful and well written.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
Three stellar stories.
Likable characters, neat settings and unpredictable plots.
Highly recommend this series!
Really enjoyed this series and will read more. I was worried that the series would be like every other on the block but they were well written with interesting and clever storyline.
Dr Pippa Durant is a psycholigist who finds herself involved in many criminal cases where her help is invaluable. Her private life complicates her professional at times, but keeps the stories interesting. This box set contains the three books in the Fatal series. They have excellent plot lines taht are perfect for those of us who love thrillers with a twist or two or ten........
Is there anything either than finding a book that's not only well written, but that's part of a series so you can spend even more time immersed in that world?! I loved every second of reading there. The writing flows so naturally that you don't even realise you've been reading for hrs! The characters are brought to life and made human. They're so well created that it's impossible not to care and empathise. There are twists and turns and it's all very cleverly plotted out. You definitely won't be disappoint with this series
This is such a strong series, with Fatal Flowers being a real stand out. Pippa is not perfect and we see just enough of her troubled past and relationship with her son to empathise with her on a human level without it becoming intrusive as a plot arc. Her growth over the three books is intriguing, including how she interacts with the police and uses her training to support their work. I loved the detail about botany in Fatal Flowers, including the fascinating links to Victorian times.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this advanced copy. I loved getting to know Dr Pippa. She ends up helping the police during the series. The character development and plot kept me reading into the night. I love box sets! Very intriguing mysteries and they all fit together. Definitely a five star read!
This is a good set of mysteries that will keep you turning pages! I enjoyed these books when they were first released! Fans of mysteries will enjoy!
This trio of stories by Miranda Rijks tells 3 stories that involve psychologist Dr Pippa Durrant. She's divorced and in story number one - Fatal Fortune - through no fault of her own, becomes famous for being the face of a dead woman. However, she works relentlessly to prove she is not dead, nor did she have anything to do with the dead woman. Once the police realize she has skills that can tell whether a person is lying, much like a BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit), they tap her for help in the following two cases: Fatal Flowers, and Fatal Finale. While I have read more current Miranda Rijks books that I liked better, these tales will keep you reading to the end!
Thanks to NetGalley, Booksprout, and Inkubator Books for an advance reader's copy.
I read these books individually in the publication year, and they are all very well written mysteries, with very good plots and characters. The main problem I have, is the changing POV between first and third person. However, with this box set there are many hours of good entertainment.
Thank you to NetGalley and inkubater booke for my copy of Fatal Series Box Set by Miranda Rijks
Psychologist Dr Pippa Durrant is dead or is she. The newspapers are showing her photograph but it’s not her.
What is happening, can she work it out before she does become a victim.
I’ve only read the first of the three books in this box set but I’m hooked. Great writing and very twisty plot.
This is a review of three-book-set featuring these titles; Book 1. Fatal Fortune, Book 2. Fatal Flowers, Book 3. Fatal Finale.
This story is your typical “killer versus police” scenario. Although, it has the fun twist of having a psychologist who is essentially a human lie detector and is working to help the police. This made it different from other police procedural books I have read. The books kept my interest, but will say they are not a favorite. Miranda Rijks is a great author, I look forward to reading her books, and think anyone who likes a good mystery thriller would enjoy these.
This box set contains the three Dr. Pippa Durrant books which were originally published in 2019. The books are titled - Fatal Fortune. Fatal Flowers. Fatal Finale. Although I'm a fan of Miranda Rijks, I had not read any of these books before.
Fatal Fortune - It looks like someone is trying to frame psychologist Dr. Pippa Durrant for the brutal murder of a woman she has never met. There was a photo of Pippa on the body of the murdered lottery winner. The story is told from multiple points of view and told in alternating chapters.
Fatal Flowers - This time Dr. Pippa Durrant is helping the police solve the case of a murder that occurred in a garden centre. \there are references to the first book, so my advice would be, even though they can be read as a standalone, is to read the books in order.
Fatal Finale - A gifted violinist disappears from a prestigious music academy. The police asked Pippa to help with this case.
There were lots of twists, great characters and background information in all three books.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #VictoryEditingNetGalley and the author #MrandaRijks for my ARC of #MirandaRijksFatalSeriesBoxSet in exchange for an honest review.
This is a review of three book in one.
Book 1. Fatal Fortune
Book 2. Fatal Flowers
Book 3. Fatal Finale
While the story line is the usual killer versus police there is
a psychologist who helps the police. She specializes in
basically lie detection.
The three books kept my interest but I will say they were not my favorite. I have loved everything I have read by Miranda Rijks but this series won’t be on my to keep shelf.
Still love this author and would definitely recommended her to anyone who wants a good murder mystery/thriller.
Omg!!! I read this set in one sitting!! It was sooooo good!! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one!! This author is definitely one of my one click wonders lol but these baboons had it all!! They had great suspense, intriguing, action packed, murder, mystery, kidnapping, great who done its and plenty of twist and turns!! The storyline was very interesting and definitely kept me glued to my kindle! I highly recommend reading this series! Thank you NetGalley, Miranda Rijks and Inkubater books for sharing this box series with me! Can’t wait for more!!
Just love Miranda Rijks. This latest Fatal Series did not disappoint.
Dr Pippa Durrant is lonely, she has a complicated relationship with her son and her daughter is missing.
Although busy with her own work she finds herself helping out the police and as we progress through the series she finds herself falling in love.
Each of the books are well written, with really thrilling storylines.
I cannot recommend enough and look forward to some more in this series.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my early copy.
