Really enjoyed this Nikki Galena novel. It was a rollercoaster ride consistently through the whole book. Kept wondering was was coming next. Plenty of suspense. Great characters. What more do you need. Definitely will read the next one. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

Echoes on the Fens by Joy Ellis is a compelling mystery novel that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Set in the atmospheric and eerie Fens, the story follows DI Nikki Galena as she unravels a complex case involving long-buried secrets and unexpected twists. Ellis's writing skillfully brings the characters and settings to life, making it easy to immerse oneself in the story. The plot is intricately woven, keeping readers guessing until the final pages.

Overall, Echoes on the Fens is a compelling and engrossing read that mystery fans are sure to enjoy.

I abandoned the book at 50% because the plot was becoming unrealistic. I couldn't see why two elderly former "MoD operatives" felt the need to run their own investigation, parallel to that run by DI Nikki Galena and her team. The language used is a little quaint and old fashioned, entirely unlike what we would normally expect from a police team and a crime thriller. I guess this is cosy crime, but I prefer my crime thrillers to be a bit more contemporary. I was disappointed not to feel motivated to continue because the story line was quite intriguing, and I couldn't guess for one moment what the motive was for someone targeting the friends and colleagues of therapist Claire.

A supposed suicide, a hit and run, a grief counsellor losing clients to sabotage plus the murder of the son of her mum’s former boss stretches DI Nikki Galena and DS Joe Easter and the team are yet again stretched to the limits.

This book is a yet another solid and dependable crime thriller that Joy Ellis is known for. I do find the dialogue comes off as a bit cheesy and not very naturalistic. There’s an earnestness I guess to it. There was times I felt perhaps there was too much going on, but Ellis weaves it together well. The only part I didn’t like was how the hell did the team not question Lizzie about what was on TV when Claire suddenly got upset? It seemed like basic policing missed.

Always entertaining and another for fans.

Thanks to Joffe and NetGalley for the ARC.

Absolutely brilliant, so twisty you’ll be dizzy. I love everything about this series and this is another fantastic tale about Nikki, Joseph, their family, colleagues and friends. Loved the ending too.

Fans of detective mysteries rejoice! Great series continues - complex plot with red herrings at every turn, secrets, lies, obsession, and murder. Can't beat the investigative team, well developed characters that have grown over time. Not to be missed!

Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for my copy of Echoes On The Fens by Joy Ellis
I’ve followed Nikki Galena since the very first book Crime on the Fens and it is so great to catch up with Nikki, Joseph and all the team on the Fens.
This is definitely one of the best crime series around today, I can’t believe it’s the 15th book!
Nikki Galena is a hard working DI who lets nothing stand in the way of finding justice for those wronged.
And in this case she’s got her hands full with so many things going on at once.
With two seemingly unconnected deaths over two days and then a third, what ties them all together?
With so many different threads it’s hard to keep things straight, but Joy does it seamlessly, and it all fits together.

What a read, I couldn’t put it down. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ all the way.

My first read in this series and what a brilliant one!

Nikki and Joseph are partners in their police detective roles as well as romantically. In their personal lives, they are very close to Nikki's mother, Eve, and Joseph's daughter, Tamsin. Although this is the first time I have "met" these fabulous characters, I was very quickly able to get up to speed with the dynamic between them all and I particularly loved Eve's amateur sleuthing! I feel that she would get on very well with Elizabeth, from Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club!

The action starts straight away - no messing! Three seemingly unrelated deaths occur very quickly, leaving Nikki, Joseph and their team on a race against time to discover the killer and the motive, before the body count rises. There was a lot going on in this book; three active cases, the reopening of a cold case or two, a traumatised patient's memories returning, key witnesses in safe houses and so much more - as well as the main characters's personal lives.

A well written, fast paced, police procedural thriller that I devoured!

4.5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Joy Ellis and Joffe for an ARC in return for an honest review.
