Two private detectives are hired to investigate a two decades old murder case. The slaying of a barman by a man witnessed having an earlier altercation with him seems cut and dried. When the detectives start asking questions though, powerful people start paying attention and it soon becomes clear that twenty years is nowhere near enough time to erase memories.
The plotting is first class and as the story unravels, you’re kept on the back foot as vested interests and dirty secrets emerge from hibernation. A slick read that stays with you.
