What a wonderful mystery to read to get one in the Holiday spirit! I loved the characters, and I am grateful to learn that it is a series, as I will be downloading all of the books. Carly runs a grilled cheese sandwich shop but does some sleuthing on the side. When her friend is a suspect in a murder at the local Theatre, she begins searching for clues to help clear her name, which coincidently, also helps the local police solve the murder. The bonus... recipes that they serve at the shop are included in the end of the book! I am so grateful for having the opportunity to review the book, thank you to the author, and Netgalley for approving my request.
This is a holiday themed cozy that takes the reader back to Vermont and Carly's grilled cheese theme eatery. All of Carly's friends and family make an appearance as well as her fiancé. Carly is all set to attend a preview /dress rehearsal of a local production of A Christmas Carole. However, the leader actor is murdered, and the show doesn't go on. Carly is warned by the local authorities to keep her nose out of police affairs. But she can't! Her best friend is a suspect, and Carly is on the trail of the murderer finding clues and processing them in her detective mind. A good read! As in any cozy, lots of characters who add to the main character. Author does a good job of furnishing enough info of the past stories to make this readable by itself. As a grilled cheese fan, I recommend this book!
Carly needs to make sure her best friend, Gina, does not become the main suspect. I always enjoy this series. The opening was very strong and had me wanting to know more. I was expecting a little more investigating at the theater since this was surrounding a production of A Christmas Carol. I like when the victim is not well liked. This means a lot of suspects, red herrings and more questions. I did not guess the murderer because I was focusing on another person. It was nice to get to know Carly’s sister, Norah and her boyfriend Nate. I hope we get more of her in other books. I also think the chief now being a married man has softened him a little.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for my review.
What a great way to get into the Christmas spirit!
Carly and the gang are doing all the things you do when getting ready for Christmas. Shopping, getting together, watching A Christmas Carol at the theater, and solving a murder. Well atleast in Balsam Dell they solve a murder..
What I love about this book is the depth of the characters and how they are all so tight knit. They are always there to help each other and make sure everyone is good.
This is a great book to read to get in the Christmas spirit and get swept away from all the stuff going on on the outside.
I love when a holiday themed book involves A Christmas Carol as part of the plot. So setting the murder at the play’s rehearsal is perfect. Carly is a good lead, smart & hardworking & I think readers will have no problem relating to her. The best part of the series is her restaurant, it makes for a perfect hub to bring in characters & to learn important information to help solve the mystery. This is one of my favourites in the series.
This will give you all the warm & cozy vibes, especially when it comes to describing the food. So definitely curl up with a grilled cheese & this book for a peaceful afternoon.

This is a Christmas installment in one of my favorite cozy series, Linda Reilly's Grilled Cheese Mysteries series. Once again, another outstanding entry in this delightful series.
Here, the murder occurs at the local theater company's staging of A Christmas Carol. Naturally, Carly, the owner of the town's grilled cheese restaurant, finds herself trying to help solve the mystery.
Once again, a clever plot and the wonderful cast of characters is back. Lots of yummy grilled cheese recipes too.
Highly recommended cozy mystery!!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Linda Reilly for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for You Feta Watch Out coming out November 19, 2024. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own.
I’ve read the book right before this one. I really love this series! Cozy mysteries are one of my favorite genres! I really loved that they incorporated a Christmas Carol in this book. Carly is a fun character and she has a lot of supportive people in her life. I loved the mystery. I think it’s perfect for the holidays. I love the food involved as well. I would definitely check out more books by this author!
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cozy Christmastime mysteries!
What a wonderful addition to this series! I loved seeing the gang back together again and I liked seeing more of Carly and Norah together that was really nice. I love sisterly love. The mystery was so good too. Solid lots of red herrings. When it was solved I was surprised, I did t think it was going to be the person it was and maybe cause of the state of my life I was truly singing he had it coming. If I was on that jury I’d vote not GULITY. And last but not least maybe just a little too little Havarti! Thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
The holidays are here and so is tech week for A Christmas Carol at the opera house. Carly has been invited to the dress rehearsal and watches as they have an unplanned delay. Then she hears an ear piercing scream and she once again gets involved to save a friend. Another fun, cozy mystery with delicious recipes made with cheese! What could be better for a cold night?
I've been catching up with this series over since about March, and I think it might be one of my all-time favourite cozy mystery series. I really thought a 'grilled cheese diner' themed series would be too specific and either get stale or become really generic after a couple of books but this doesn't!
Reilly manages to hit that cozy mystery sweet-spot trifecta: decently size cast of distinct characters (enough that the town feels populated, not so much I either lose track or don't care who the recurring cast are), a memorable mystery with enough twists to keep you guessing, and a interesting theme that adds a touch of unique interest to the story.
Unsurprisingly, YOU FETA WATCH OUT is a festive installment to the series. That's done really well - the murder of Scrooge during a performance of A Christmas Carol and enough references to snow storms and present shopping that the holidays stay a real central focus - but balanced out with a few non-Christmas plotlines, so that the seasonal stuff isn't cloying and the book can be read whenever the mood takes you.
I had originally thought this series stalled at three, and I've been thrilled to binge the fourth and fifth books. I desperately hope Balsam Dell, Carly, and the Grilled Cheese Mysteries have many future installment.
The latest grilled cheese mystery has a recipe for grilled cheese fruitcake and I'm almost tempted to try it if some fruitcake finds its way to our house this holiday season. At a dress rehearsal of A Christmas Carol, one of the actors is found dead with Marley's heavy chains wrapped around his throat. The evidence points to Carly's best friend, but plenty of people could have wanted the unpleasant man dead. This is always a fun series, with lots of tasy sounding food and an entertaining group of characters.
An enjoyable addition to the series with plenty of Christmas touches to help you get in to the holiday spirit.
I was so excited to be able to read an ARC of this new installment of the Grilled Cheese Mystery series - I got caught up on all of the previous ones this fall and love that this was available just in time for the holiday season! I adore Carly and the gang, and found this to be one of the better mysteries - complex with plenty of reasonable suspects that kept me guessing until the end. I also loved the holiday touches from A Christmas Carol play to all of the holiday activities. Can't wait for the next one!
I also love the cover of this one - festive and I'm always a sucker for little Havarti being featured!
It was wonderful to be able to read this 5th. book in the Grilled Cheese Mystery series…especially since the previous book was published on April 9th. of this year!
This is a wonderful cozy mystery series, and this book takes place at Christmastime.
Carly Hale, the protagonist and proprietor of the grilled cheese restaurant is involved in investigating another murder that happens during a dress rehearsal for the play A Christmas Carol.
It is always great to be able to catch up with familiar characters from the previous books, plus Havarti, her adorable small dog. The plot is most engaging, and I was able to get into this book right from the first page, and it kept me hooked until the very last page.
Linda Reilly knows how to weave coziness into her stories by using likeable and colorful characters (except for the victim), and beautifully described scenes and locations.
I hope to be reading many more of Ms. Reilly’s mysteries, and I hope readers will love reading this book.
Thank you Net Galley and Beyond The Page publishers for making an advance copy available to read and post a personal review. I also thank Ms. Linda Reilly for her brilliant writing.
This is a fun, entertaining cozy mystery. I enjoyed the mystery and how it played out. The characters are interesting and all added something unique and individual to the mystery and overall story. The amateur sleuth Carly is captivating and fun to spend time with. The story is easy to read and get into.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Carly and the crew at the Grilled Cheese shop are working hard this holiday season, when Carly's best friend is put on the suspect list for the murder of one of the actors in the play, A Christmas Carol. The victim was unliked by most who knew him, so there are lots of suspects and motives. Carly will do anything to clear Gina's name. But who actually committed the crime?
I love these characters and all their interactions. The plot, as always, is fun, fast paced, and completely captivating. Truly enjoyed from beginning to end.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
You Feta Watch Out by Linda Reilly, the latest in the Grilled Cheese Mystery series, is a fun read for the upcoming holiday season. There's plenty of Christmas content, from the play A Christmas Carol to special holiday themed sandwiches to decorating Christmas trees.
I did find the book a tad bit difficult to get into, and some of the detailed descriptions of people especially to be somewhat tedious, but I stuck it out and am glad I did. The mystery of who killed the obnoxious leading man is complex, with plenty of suspects and red herrings to keep the reader guessing to the very end.
I must say, the cover is lovely.
Thank you for the ARC of #YouFetaWatchOut to #NetGalley and Beyond the Page Publishing.
You Feta Watch Out is the newest book in the Grilled Cheese Mystery series. These books always entertain me and have me longing for a grilled cheese sandwich! In this book, Carly Hale, owner of a grilled cheese eatery, and the rest of Balsam Dell, Vermont are excited that a production of A Christmas Carol has come to town. Carly's best friend Gina Tomasso even has a minor role in the play. Gina loves being able to perform, but she and others in the cast are being bullied by the obnoxious actor who plays Jacob Marley. When Jacob is killed, Gina becomes the prime suspect so Carly steps away from the grill to investigate.
This is such a fun series and I've enjoyed getting to know Carly and the rest of the characters in this series. I liked that A Christmas Carol play is part of the setting, although it did take some of the time away from getting to see Carly working in the shop. However, the investigation kept me guessing and the solution was unexpected. I love the friendships between the characters in this series and look forward to more from this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and Beyond the Page publishing for the review ebook copy. My review is voluntary and unbiased.
This is a GREAT series. This Christmas the Balsam Dell Community Center is putting on A Christmas Carol . Carly is the amateur sleuth and she really goes out to find the murderer. The actor who plays Scrooge is a very demeaning person and he goes out of his way to put everyone down, especially Gina, who is a best friend of Carly. A special intermission is called because of him, Prescott Lennon and during this time nhe is found dead. Gina at this time is the prime suspect because she is the one who found hime. Follow Carly as she goes into sleuth mode as her goal is to prove Gina did not kill him.
Fun cozy mystery at Christmas time in Vermont. The local theater is showing the play A Christmas Carol when during final rehearsals murder takes place. Carly is busy planning her wedding and running her restaurant, but when her best friend becomes the main suspect she decides to investigate herself. Lots of suspects, and mysteries besides the murder are figured out and solved. Nice well told story with good characters and world building. Thank you to NetGalley and Beyond the Page publishing for this early advanced copy!I
