This was a fun little chapter book. Justin Case has interesting adventures, and there's a sense of oddness and whimsy about it all. This is a fun book for new readers that they can interact with.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
Perfect for early readers just staring in chapter books this cute book will take the read on a few journeys with a cute cat. The words are easy to read and the stories are interesting. It’s perfect for the just starting chapter books because each chapter is a new story. Your little one can finish a chapter and start a new chapter/story the next day.
A collection of stories featuring Justin Case, a mostly black cat. He checks things out at home, in the park, visits with his friends, goes on a trip to Japan, hunts for food, and generally does all sorts of things interesting to cats.
The stories are short, and a little whimsical. I can see their appeal for kids, and though I did not really like the style of illustration, the humour comes through.
Thank you to Netgalley and to Troubadour for this ARC in exchange for my review.
This is a collection of short stories written by children and their parents. If you are a cat owner you will relate to every one of these stories! The illustrations are by Angela Hodgson-Teall.
The stories are very witty and relatable as well as introducing young readers to different countries and cultures. The stories had me laughing all the way though, at both the illustrations and the captions and cat-versations! People are Big Feeders which I can confirm is how our cat see's me.
The stories occasionally include activity suggestions at the end for children to better interact with the content of the story such as drawing their own maps.
Some of the text placement could be a little more clear. I definitely recommend if you have a cat!
