I really enjoy this book. It feels like a Hallmark movie
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the book
A light hearted love story with all the classic ingredients to please the aficionados of the genre.
I like the characters and the storyline which makes this novel a lovely easy read that works for a cold winter night or summer entertainment
I loved reading this book! Thank you Netgalley and producer for my copy of arc. You don’t want to miss out on this book.
A very enjoyable story which kept me interested all the way through. Light-hearted and the perfect book to snuggle into on a winter's day. I read this so quickly and wanted to keep reading until the end. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
Here is a book about the dilemmas faced by the modern woman in the twenty-first century. Can we really have it all and, if so, how do we do that? Times they are a-changin’ and the old way isn’t the only way to live any more. We have choices, but sometimes that makes things more difficult. How do we know what is the right choice?
These are the conundrums that the protagonist of this book is grappling with. Amber is a girl with plans. She knows what she wants – to buy and restore her gran’s old pub and to have a baby – which seem simple but, when she splits up with her boyfriend just before her thirtieth birthday, those plans seem to be slipping away from her, unless she decides she doesn’t need a man to bring her plans to fruition. Or, is there another man right under her nose that might be an alternative solution.
I love to see a modern romance that is grappling with a storyline that isn’t as straightforward as ‘boy meets girl and that solves all her problems.’ Women have choices and it is good to acknowledge that. Amber’s life is complicated, she doesn’t have any close family and has made friends her family, so it is important that she doesn’t mess that up with love complications. People’s lives are multi-layered in the modern world, and families come in all shapes and sizes and I loved the fact that this book reflects that.
I have to say, I was not one hundred percent convinced about the strength of Amber’s rejection of Tyler as a boyfriend, given their magnetic attraction, just because she thought she knew what was best for him. In life people are not generally that selfless. However, I should caveat this with the acknowledgment that I am a jaded 52-year-old divorced other-of-two whose dewy-eyed days are long behind her. If you are young and starry-eyed still, you will probably love this story and fully buy in to the story.
I loved both Amber and Tyler as characters, and Sharon too, and there was plenty of heat between the protagonists to spice up the story. Despite my middle-aged cynicism, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Don’t You Want Me, Baby? and would not hesitate to recommend it to lovers of romance who are on the look out for a modern take on the genre.
I normally don't read a lot of friends to lovers book because personally for me it's a 50-50 or I have it or I love it.. In this case I actually like it so I'm happy that I did gave a chance
Amber and Tyler are very unlikely best friends and i did liked their interaction but it was very clear who had fallen first here
Amber Fitzpatrick is about to hit thirty and has achieved none of the things she hoped to have done by now. Her dreams of owning her own business seem out of reach. Her boyfriend has just dumped her and now her biological clock is clanging in her head.
But maybe Amber doesn’t need a man for the next stage of her life? Maybe as an independent woman she can have a baby all by herself?
There’s only one problem. Handsome but excruciatingly annoying best friend Tyler Williams. Tyler thinks Amber’s motherhood plans are plain crazy! She just needs to wait for Mr. Right to come along…and maybe he’s closer than she thinks?
But with Amber hellbent on doing it alone, Tyler sets out to prove to her that being her best friend could also come with excellent benefits…if only she's brave enough to take the chance.
Love it. Will recommend to others.
This one was fun. I adored Amber and liked Tyler. But in classic slow burn fashion, it was frustrating to watch them dance around each other. Our background cast were fun too and I enjoyed my time with this book
Amber and Tyler go through a lot of friendship issues throughout this book. I got irritated with Amber a lot because of how much she kept pushing Tyler away, when all he wanted was her. She was so focused on what she wanted that she couldn’t even see what was going on around her. Aside from Amber being a bit obtuse, I did truly enjoy their banter and friendship!
Don't You Want Me Baby? by Rachel Dove had an intriguing title and premise, but the execution fell short for me. While the story had moments of humor and charm, it often felt repetitive and lacked the spark needed to fully engage me.
The characters, though relatable at times, didn’t develop as much as I had hoped, making it hard to connect with their journey. The pacing was uneven, with some parts dragging and others feeling rushed. Overall, it was a disappointing read that didn’t quite deliver on its potential.
Don't You Want Me Baby is a friends to lovers romance. Amber is about to hit her 30th birthday, and is currently dating Bradley, her boyfriend of 1 year, who has been distant lately. He is chasing his dreams of opening a second restaurant and Amber has been putting off her dreams so he can chase his. Amber has a best friend called Tyler, who encourages her to stop putting off her dreams. Amber eventually sees Bradley's true colours and decided to breaks up with him so she can chase her dreams of getting her pub and having a baby. Amber and Tyler grow closer and are very attracted to each other, but Amber doesn't want to date again and decides to get a sperm donation shipped to her. After they both finally give into a night of passion, Tyler begins to think that maybe he and Amber can be together. Amber pushes him away and tells him to leave and go chase his dreams. She doesn't want to tie him to her with a baby even as she realizes she has fallen in love with him.
There was the miscommunication trope in this book and it felt really unnecessary to have as it seemed it was to just a way to create a conflict / third act. I loved that in this book it is talking about Amber going for what she wants and chasing her dreams. I wasn't a fan of the relationship as it felt like a teenage relationship and they didn't always take things seriously. It felt like both characters changed from the beginning of the book to the second half of the book.
Thank you netgalley for providing me with an arc!
This book was a great representation of pushing dreams aside and then claiming them back for yourself.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and provide an honest review of this book.
Don't You Want Me Baby follows Amber, a manager of a local pub, who has had big plans to buy her grandmother's old pub and open it. She is currently dating Bradley, her boyfriend of 1 year, who has been distant lately. He is chasing his dreams of opening a second restaurant and Amber has been putting off her dreams so he can chase his. Amber's best friend, Tyler, encourages her to stop putting off her dreams and to go get them. After she finally sees Bradley's true colors, she breaks up with him and decides to embrace her dreams of getting her pub and having a baby. Amber and Tyler grow closer than ever and both seem to be attracted to each other, but Amber doesn't want to date again and decides to get a sperm donation shipped to her. After they both finally give into a night of passion, Tyler begins to think that maybe he and Amber can be together. Amber pushes him away and tells him to leave and go chase his dreams. She doesn't want to tie him to her with a baby even as she realizes she has fallen in love with him.
Don't You Want Me Baby is a friends to lovers romance. The main character Amber is an imperfect character that has trouble letting others help her. She puts others before herself and her dreams and wants. Overall, I didn't like Amber's character. Her way of thinking that she knew what was best for others was off-putting. She constantly pushed Tyler away because she had preconceived ideas of what his dreams were, thinking that they mirrored her own. You wanted to root for her, but you also wanted to constantly tell her to just stop it. However, what I didn't like about Amber, was made up for in Tyler and Sharon (Amber's other best friend). Both of these characters were supportive and loving. They both wanted what was best for their friend even if what she wanted didn't align. Tyler's attempt to always put Amber's needs first because he was in love with her made the tension between them palpable.
The miscommunication trope was used a lot to create tension between Amber and Tyler and it got to the point where it felt unnecessary. There were plenty of arguments that could've been solved if they just said what they felt. Their conversations went back and forth with emotions getting high, but the characters actions didn't always make sense. The plot felt secondary to the romance, tension, and angst. I found it difficult to get invested in Amber's plan for herself. While this story wasn't my cup of tea, there are items in here that may appeal to others.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this ARC. I enjoyed this book and laughed several times during this book. I read this book in one day and I would definitely recommend this book!
Thank you to Rachel Dove, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the ARC. My review is voluntary and opinions are my own.
This is a friend's to lovers story. I will admit this story took awhile for me to finish. The character of Amber was having to rethink things in her life. I felt there was too much of the story of Brad, the prior boyfriend. Then the story of Tyler seemed to kind of hang in grumpy part for carried on too much. I was glad when Tyler and Amber were finally together.
Don't You Want Me Baby? is a lovely, friends to lovers romance. With likeable characters and a good, well paced storyline, it is an enjoyable read!
Don't You Want Me Baby?
Yes, I absolutely do want you Tyler, you fictional dreamboat, and I was surprised (but enthralled) by how much Amber was able to resist your charms!
Tyler is the sweetest, sexiest fictional stud muffin and I loved him! He was so kind, protective, selfless towards Amber and truly earned my respect and admiration, as well as Amber's. He has a mysterious moody air to him too, which made him all the more interesting.
Amber is a wonderful character. She is hardworking, ambitious and stubborn, but at the same time she is vulnerable, soft and funny. She really needs, and deserves the kind of love you find only in books and fairytales. Can Tyler be the one?
Well, I was hoping it wouldn't be Brad. He was the slimiest, nastiest piece of work and I disliked him very much! I read my books out loud sometimes when my children are settling for bed (clean / appropriate bits only), and we got to a part where Bradley is described as a conniving, lying, rat or words to that effect, and even my daughter was shocked by his actions. "Big men should know better!" She said, and amen to that.
I love the wonderful Rachel Dove and once again she has delivered in every way. 😍 There are great well developed characters that you either love to love or love to hate, an exploration of important themes like family, independence, ambition, friendship and loyalty. Finally, there is the ideal balance of sweetness with humour and spice! This book was a massive emotional rollercoaster and I was fully invested in this story, set in the comfortable community atmosphere of a little country pub.
I just finished Don't You Want Me Baby, and wow, I couldn't put it down! From the very first page, I was completely hooked. Rachel Dove has a remarkable way of drawing you into the story, making you feel like you're right there with the characters.
The pacing was perfect—each chapter left me eager to turn the page and find out what would happen next. The chemistry between the main characters was electric, and their witty banter had me laughing out loud. I loved how their relationship developed, filled with both tension and tenderness.
Dove masterfully weaves in themes of love, self-discovery, and the complexities of modern relationships. I found myself reflecting on my own experiences as I followed the characters on their journey. The plot twists were unexpected and kept me guessing, which made the reading experience even more thrilling.
Overall, Don't You Want Me Baby is a delightful read that combines humor, heart, and a touch of drama.
Super cute friends to lovers with a pregnancy trope. A fun weekend read that made me smile. The MMC gives major cinnamon roll vibes and his devotion is sweet.
This was a great romance book! The story was really interesting and it kept my attention the whole time!
