When I read Welcome to Hollyhock Farm I eagerly awaited the publication of Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm. Though it was worth the wait, I can't say it was easy. I was so eager to start this next book in the series. The book so seamlessly follows the first book with many of the same characters returning but we do get to meet, Patsy who is Melody's grandmother. I'll admit I do enjoy reading about mature women characters. Patsy has a wonderful sense of humor, is pretty hip and a bit quirky. To sum it up, she's an entertaining character and I hope to see her returning in future books.
This is Zac and Melody's story, both characters who I loved.
Returning character Lettie is in for a surprise when she finds out the insurance, she has for one of the animal barns doesn't fully cover the replacement cost of repairs needed on the building. Winter is almost here, and the animals need the shelter and quickly.
When a plan is quickly gotten together to have a fundraiser for the barn repairs it sounds like a delightful plan. The fundraiser is to be a wellness festival revolving around taking care of yourself and healthy eating. This fair sounds like so much fun that I would have loved to attend.
Zac is Lettis's brother and will do all he can to help his sister with the planning of the fair. Yoga instructor, Melody wants to put some oomph into the fair and has a plan to do so. I loved seeing Zac and Melody's interactions and how their relationship progresses. Once again Jersey sounds so beautiful, the island a place I want to visit especially with the rescue animals.
Zac and Melody are getting along splendidly but each seem to have a little something they're hiding from the other. I sure hope they can bring things out in the open because I want to see this lovely couple stay together. Realistic and heartwarming I'm already looking forward to the next book in this marvelous series!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.
A lovely story set in Jersey. I enjoyed this one very much and loved the romantic ending. Let's hope we find out more if there is another book in this series. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
This book is just so sweet, and the plot is so sweet. Zac’s family has this amazing farm and they need to raise money to fix a couple of things, so they decide together with his sister Lettie to create a Wellness event. Melody and her Grandma are around to help, and of course Zac and Melody met and the chemistry was felt. I loved them all, aside from their own personal relationship issues, and Melody healing from what she went through in her past, I loved how this author addressed that. This book reminds of summer, the romance was everything I needed, and I know there has to be a book 3!!!!! I need book 3!!! Lol.
Thanks Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.
Zac Torel has taken a break from his job as a sound engineer, to help his sister Lettie find her feet after taking over running the family farm from their parents.
Needing to raise funds to repair a barn roof that was damaged in a storm, Lettie hits on the idea of a Wellness Festival. Luckily for them, Melody a yoga teacher from Edinburgh and her gran Patsy, are coming to stay at the farm. As part of Lettie’s new eco project, they will work on the farm in exchange for board and lodgings.
Melody and Patsy have lots of ideas for the festival and, as the four of them work together, Zac and Melody begin to get closer. Melody is clearly holding something back, but secrets have a way of coming back to bite you when you least expect it. Will the past wreck the future for Melody and Zac.
This is a lovely book set in one of my favourite places, the characters engage you from the start and you find yourself rooting for them.
You can read this on its own, but I would highly recommend reading the first in the series. The perfect book to warm you up a cold winter day.
I was excited to read another Georgina Troy book, but unfortunately I wasn’t a fan of the love triangle (square?) storyline.
Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
Lettie is worried about the costs of repairing the barn roof. After a recent storm, the insurance company won’t cover the full price of repairs.
Her brother Zac misses what he’s used to do, but also loves being at the farm and helping his sister.
In order to cover the shortfall, Lettie makes a decision to put on a Wellness event and hopes that it will make enough or near to what she needs.
Her parents are soon off on another cruise, but before they go, her mother invites Melody and Patsy who are friends of one of her friends to stay in the two attic rooms.
When it’s revealed that Melody is a yoga teacher and Patsy does a podcast about wellness it looks like Lettie has the help she needs to make her event a success.
But Melody is reluctant to talk about her past and Zac too has a past which not many people know about.
It was lovely to be bank in Jersey again to catch up the characters.
I highly recommend this book.
Georgina Troy is another of my go-to authors. One I can rely on to snuggle up to and feel all the right feels. But she's still a brilliant author who can still suprise and delight me with each new book.
This time we are back to Hollyhock farm and our two brilliant siblings who took over their families farm previously.
They have to come up with funds fast. So decide to hold a wellness festival. To do so Lettie enlists the help of recent arrival Melody. And the rest is romance history.
Another beautiful novel by Troy. I hope there is more from this series to come.
I initially found the book quite refreshing! The author's descriptions of Hollyhock Farm and its welcoming residents really drew me in. However, as I continued reading, I felt that the pace was a bit slow and repetitive, which made it hard for me to stay engaged. I got through about half of the book, but I just couldn’t seem to connect with the story as much as I had hoped. In the end, I decided to set it aside, but I appreciate the effort that went into it, so I won't be leaving any negative reviews.
I appreciate the opportunity from NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. Thank you!
This was a lovely and sweet romance set in Jersey. Ms.Troy is an excellent job of describing Hollyhock Farm and the scenic isle of Jersey. The characters were well-developed; but the repetitive narrative at the beginning of the book (as other reviewers have also mentioned) was annoying. I really liked all of the characters and watching Melody regain her self-esteem and stand up for herself with her "soon to be" ex-husband was gratifying. A smoothly paced storyline with enjoyable characters made the story an easy afternoon read.
This is book two in this series. It’s Zac and Melody’s story. This is an easy to read book revolving around Hollyhock farm. It has some light romance and deals with relationship issues.
This book had a great plot with intriguing characters. I’ll definitely be looking out for more from this author.
A heartwarming read and I enjoyed it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for giving me this opportunity to read and review this book.
I adored this book, as I do any book written by Georgina Troy!
The setting of this story, in beautiful Jersey was brought to life wonderfully by the author, and the characters.... I adored them. SO many individuals with unique traits that allowed you to really picture them in your mind.
I truly enjoyed this book!
Oh I loved this book!!! Such a fun and easy read. Cute and lovely. Loved the romance, loved Lettie! Perfect for a cozy day read.
A cute story of second chances at love for Zac and Melody set in idyllic Jersey at Hollyhock Farm. Georgina Troy beautifully describes the landscape and historical sites of the area, even down to the colorful hollyhocks which lend their name to the farm. At the beginning it was a bit repetitious with Melody and Patsy frequently saying a version of " we are here to help however you need" but got much better as they story evolved.
Both Zac and Melody experienced very different "bad breakups" and neither is looking to date, let alone fall in love. Aside from the story line of their budding relationship, Zac's sister Lettie needs to find additional money to cover repairs to one of their barns that the insurance will not cover. Together, Melody and Lettie plan a holistic "wellness festival" at the farm which I found to be one of the best story lines of the book.
Note: there are several instances of both emotional and physical abuse, but the author deals with both very well.
Another great holiday read and a great addition to the Hollyhock Farm series. This is a feel good, charming and evocative read. I enjoyed the setting and the characters as they seemed to take me on the journey with them. I immersed myself in this book and didn't put it down until I was done!
Well written and wonderfully descriptive, a great summer read that will make you smile, will lighten your heart and entertain you. Loved it.
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Since Lettie has taken over Hollyhock Farm a storm and her insurance company have put her into a quandary she needs to find the shortfall to fix the barn roof. Zac her brother is finding he’s missing his job as a sound engineer but loving work on the farm.
Lettie decides on a wellness weekend and it’s all hands on deck. Her mother and father are off again on another cruise but let the two attic rooms out to friends of her friend Kate. Melody is a godsend, a yoga teacher and her grandmother Patsy who has a wellness podcast.
Brilliant book and a great visit to Jersey again to catch up with the farm looking forward to another visit soon.
Lettie and her brother Zac have taken over the family farm but money is needed for repairs. When Melody and her grandmother come to stay the offer to help organize a wellness fair. Her creepy ex-husband lurks in the background and hinders a budding romance between her and Zac. Good story overall and one I recommend.
This story continues with the family at Hollyhock Farm, but now it's Zac's turn to find love! It's a really sweet read. Lettie is still trying to manage the farm but they need to raise funds to repair the barn. So she decides to host a Wellness Festival. With plenty of help from the farm's 2 new residents, Patsy and Melody, they go all out. And Zac falls head over heels for Melody! Unfortunately, and this is a purely personal opinion, the characters again felt a little flat for me. Sweet, light, with a little drama thrown in for good measure, this is still an enjoyable read.
Thanks to Netgalley, Boldwood Books, and Georgina Troy for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Loved the first book and this is no exception. Lettie's taken over the running of the farm with the help of her brother Zac. He's taken time out from his job as a sound engineer. They decide to help Melody and her grandmother Patsy by offering them board as long as they help out on the farm. Melody has a secret but then so does Zac
