I had great fun reading this! It was an easy read with great characters and fast pacing. I loved the idea of the two characters switching novels and the added romance was also great for the story.
Whilst the story was a bit predictable at times, it was still fun to read.
This would make the perfect February read!

Cute but overall the pacing felt off. I enjoyed the beginning and the very end but the middle dragged. The main character, Allie, was often frustrating and I couldn’t understand the choices she made. Too much miscommunication between all characters involved.
I thought the relationship between Allie and her writing mentor/partner Martin was so sweet. But while that relationship developed, the romantic relationship between Allie and Will was not as prominent and thus fell a little flat because we really didn’t get that many scenes with the two of them.

This story started out very interesting and it kept me hooked for a long time. Unfortunately I started to get a little bored towards the ending, even though the ending itself was pretty cute. Still a nice romantic read!

The Plot Twist by Eleanor Goymer is a light and cozy romance with a fun premise. Allie, a romcom author with writer’s block, teams up with crime novelist Martin to swap stories, leading to an unexpected mentor-mentee bond. While I enjoyed their dynamic, I felt the romance between Allie and Will lacked depth and chemistry. Some characters, like Angie and Tessa, stood out, but Allie’s decisions were sometimes frustrating. The story was predictable but still an enjoyable read. If you love sweet, feel-good romances with a touch of humor, this book is a nice choice for a relaxing read!

(3.5)Thank you for the arc!! I did really enjoy this book. It was a very uplifting cute romance book. This book is about Allie a writer that is struggling through witter block. And her struggles on the way to try to write the perfect story.

This is a really well-written book surrounding a romance author who is struggling to write, and the paths she takes for inspiration. One of those inspirations is Will, and boy are their interactions swoony! The only negative thing I could say about this book is that I want more interactions with Will, but that's really because I'm greedy. It wraps up really well! Maybe I just want a sequel *hint hint*.
I really liked Allie. You know when you want to yell at the main character? I really only felt that way a couple of times, but not in a ragey-way, just a light frustration. Most of the book was spent with me fully engaged with Allie's life and highs and lows. I had a lot of fun reading this!
The character development in The Plot Twist is really good. The story is from the perspective of Allie, and a few people that orbit her current situation/life. Even though some of the side characters' interactions with Allie were brief, I genuinely felt like I understood their personality and involvement in the plot. Martin, her writing buddy, is such a fun one too! Their dynamic is punchy, feisty, and intelligent.
I highly recommend this feel-good read!
Thank you NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, and One More Chapter for this ARC!

I dont know, I didnt entirely mesh with this book. I think the POVs confused me. But I will check out more from this author

I think I mostly did this a disservice as I just finished a really good romance that kind of set this up for failure otherwise I think this would've been okay! like most of the reviews I think this is a really easy plot to catch on to pretty quickly but I did like the addition of the side-romance and rekindling; it's a really lovely reminder that love is not just copy and paste HOWEVER that sentiment is a little undermined by the total predictability of the main romance in the book which follows a pretty standard format. Not that any of these things are bad, it just isn't the best one I've read and I think because of that I didn't like it as much as I could've

I really loved the premise of this book. I think the plot was great and had so much promise, but for me it wasn't executed as well as it could have been.
I really enjoyed the mentor relationship between Allie and Martin, However, I think too much time was spent on this relationship and it left the relationship between Allie and Will lacking. There was very little time spent on Allie and Will's relationship. There were a few scenes between the two of them, but they were pretty short, and lacked any real chemistry between the two.
I also struggled a bit to connect with Allie herself. I found some of her decisions a bit baffling and I feel she read a lot younger than she was supposed to be.
This definitely wasn't a bad book by any means, but it just didn't really work for me personally.
Thank you to netgalley for my ARC.

The Plot Twist follows bestselling author Allie, who finds herself in the midst of a writing slump. As she struggles to reignite her creative spark, she embarks on a journey of rediscovery—both in her writing and in other aspects of her life.
The premise immediately drew me in, but unfortunately, the execution fell flat. The romance, in particular, felt lackluster, and as much as I wanted to be invested, I just couldn’t connect with it.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

generally pretty good! i loved Angie, Tessa, and Verity, they were very cool characters. Allie and Martin were fine if a bit static, but i found Will underdeveloped. 3.5 stars, rounded up. tysm for the arc.

The Plot Twist by Eleanor Goymer is truly a cozy meet cute with all the things you could want in a fun romance story. Like most romance novels, we have two lovable characters who run into some misunderstandings, but ultimately get their happy ending and I’m here for it! This book is wonderfully written, and still managed to feel new and fun to read cuddled up in a blanket. I would consider this a perfect “pick me up” book!

This book had a lot of heart and some very sweet moments, but ultimately suffered from a lack of chemistry between the main characters. I love a romance about writers, so that was a fun premise. Unfortunately, the main characters came off as fairly immature. There was some fun banter but I didn’t really feel like we got to see them connect on a deeply satisfying level because of the convoluted plot. I hope to read this author’s next book because there was definitely some potential here!

This could have been sooo good and it had promising moments but it felt a little flat and predictable at times, The pacing felt off, sometimes it was fast pace and others it was so slow.

The Plot Twist is a very interesting novel about a romance author struggling with writer's block. She befriends an older thriller author, and the two become writing partners. Sprinkled in is a cute romance between the romance author and a waiter she met at an event.
While I really enjoyed the premise, I struggled to get through it because of pacing issues. Additionally, this book is not as much as a romance as one would expect. I would still recommend it, but please be advised this is more of a contemporary fiction than a romance.
Thank you to the publisher for the e-copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I thought this book was a fun concept that really caught my attention, was enjoyable and super easy (in a good way) to read!
While it was a little predictable I think it made for a lovely casual read that was perfect for when you need a break from all the heavy books, the type of book that I personally feel helps you get out of your reading slumps!
It’s giving the cringey romcom you put on to make yourself feel better .. in all the right ways

This was sadly fairly mediocre. I could see the namesake plot twist coming about a 1/4 of the way through the book and it just never improved.
This may be a personal issue, but I’m also not a fan of insta-love. There was no build up or chemistry in the relationship, it was kind of just instant sparks. We don’t see enough of Will to actually understand what Allie likes about him.
Overall, the book was a lot telling and not a lot of showing. The plot somehow felt both rushed and painfully slow. I haven’t read any of the author’s other works, but this certainly wasn’t my cup of tea.

I was really excited for this one, but it seemed to fall a bit flat for me. I still liked this book, but it's not everything I hoped this book would be. The writing felt a bit stiff, and the plot is one I've seen before (regarding the different genre authors switching their books). I think that there was a lot of potential, but I had a hard time connecting to the characters in this one.

This was honestly just disappointing. It felt like it was trying to hard to be something its not. I didnt like the main character. It felt like she would not listen to anyone’s advice.

The Plot Twist is a cute romance where we see Allie find herself as well as a family to boot.
I thought the plot twist of this story was pretty good but I fear I figured it out too quickly. The chapters are a bit long which made the book drag on for me. I would have loved if everyone could communicate a little better. I hate a third act break up… not to mention multiple conflicts. 2.5/5
Thank you to Net Galley & HarperCollins UK for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
