This was really cute! The plot was so fun and I enjoyed getting to know these characters. The heroine drove me mad because she kept avoiding conversations ( and I mean I get it, in her situation I would try to avoid them too) but gosh she could have saved herself some heartache. But other than her attitude regarding that situation, I really liked her and I liked watching her resolve all the issues she was dealing with in her life. The romance plot was so cute! I liked them together a lot.

This book had a cute premise, and I really enjoyed the storyline of struggling authors finding their way back. The relationship between Allie and Martin was a highlight—it added a heartfelt touch that I appreciated.
That said, the book didn’t fully deliver on the romance for me. Allie and Will’s relationship had so much potential, but I wanted more depth and development between them. The plot twist also felt a bit early, which took away some of the momentum. With so many different storylines in play, some elements felt underdeveloped or got lost along the way.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read but didn’t quite hit the mark as a romance.
Thank you, NetGalley, One More Chapter, and HarperCollins UK, for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

Such an adorable beach read. I loved The Plot Twist, it was fun and engaging from the start! A great novel.

I find myself a bit torn about this book. While I enjoyed reading it, I often felt a sense of boredom creeping in, primarily because I craved more moments with Will and Martin. Those were truly the highlights for me! I really wanted to see the development of Allie and Will's romance more clearly; their connection felt rushed, and I wish there had been more depth to their love story.
The dates we did get were fun, but it seemed like some of the extra storylines were just added for the sake of it, rather than enhancing the narrative. Honestly, I would have preferred more time spent with Will. The partnership between Martin and Allie was an intriguing twist; their blossoming friendship added a nice layer to the story.
It might have been interesting to see Angie more involved as well, which could have provided Allie with a clearer perspective on both her relationship with Will and her friendship with Martin. Overall, while it was a decent read, I often caught myself wishing to skip ahead to the parts featuring Will or Martin instead of the office drama.

This is a fun, uplifting book that is easy to read. It is called the Plot Twist, but the story is less enticing than the sweet dynamic of the characters.
Allie is a romcom writer who is so likable for being messy and relatable for all of her mistakes and missteps. Her friendship with Martin reminds me of a 90s sitcom, it is fun and comedic! Will is the sexy caterer who shows up just when Allie needs it most.
A lot like watching a romcom movie, The Plot Twist is a cute read for when you need a break from the heaviness of life or other books.

Ok, I'm going to be honest. I didn't finish this book. I had to dnf. I read the description of this book and it sounded really interesting. However, once I started reading it, I just couldn't. I tried to like this book but at nearly 40% in I already know what's going to happen and the storyline just doesn't get my attention. I don't feel connected to the characters and I really don't care what happens to them. This book definitely has promise, but it just fell really flat. 2.75/5 star for me. I wouldn't recommend. *side note* absolutely no hate to the author whatsoever! This is not meant to be hateful to the author and I would give another book of hers a chance. This book just wasn't it and I can't honestly recommend it.

I am so very sorry but I just didn't enjoy this book. Maybe it was wrong book, wrong time. I'd be willing to give it another go. A soft DND for now.

I really wanted to love this one - such a great premise. Allie, a successful romance writer, has found herself stuck, both in love and in the writing of her new novel. When she meets famous crime writer, Martin, they're amazed to learn they're both in similar circumstances. The two hatch a plan: they'll help each other meet their deadlines. Allie has a great premise for a new crime novel, and Martin's attempts to save his ailing marriage can inspire Allie's new romance novel.
While attending an industry event, Allie swoons for a waiter named Will. He is handsome, charming and soon smitten with her and, as a result, becomes her new writing muse. But as the relationship progresses, they learn that they're both keeping secrets from one another. Will the budding romance be able to survive?
Look. Will is charmingly written. He's handsome and attentive to Allie's needs. I wanted so much more to him, but he was just a minor character in a book that's supposed to circle around this romantic relationship. Even the adorable cover features a man that is not how Will is described in the book (repeated mentions of arm tattoos and dark hair). It's like he was a subplot. Allie's douchy ex-boyfriend got much more page time, which was unfortunate.
The real interesting point is that the platonic relationship between Allie and Martin took center stage. To the point that I was wondering if IT was going to take a romantic turn. Why would an author spend SO MUCH TIME detailing meetings between two platonic characters when the obvious draw is the handsome MMC?!?
It may be that the book should be shelved under "woman's fiction" because it centers on Allie's journey of self-discovery, not the romance of her and Will. Maybe that would draw a different set of readers that have expectations of a deep character arc and not one of swoony kisses.

While I feel there were many moments that didn't feel complete or discussed further, it was a good, quick read. If you need something to completely a reading goal or to just feel a bit of platonic happiness, this is for you.
There were a few parts where I found myself giggling out loud, or going "awww" which - in my opinion - made it worth it to complete it. The ending was very sweet, and I enjoyed learning Martin and Angie's struggles and how they fix it.
The romance aspect was kind of lacking. I mean, I felt her friendship with Martin was fuller than her relationship with Will. I'm not asking for full-on open door scenes, but it just felt like their relationship started and then wasn't a focus any longer until the end of the book. Jess got on my nerves sometimes, but she is a great friend for Allie.
The premise and idea of the book is beautiful, but I feel like it could have been executed a little better. I'm also bummed we didn't get a lot of insight into Martin's book when that played a large part!
Regardless, I am thankful for the publishing company as well at NetGalley for approving me for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Net Galley for am ARC in exchange for my honest reviews ✨️
This one was cute!!
I was kinda expecting the story to be a little different when reading the synopsis of this story. Allie and Martin are both stuck in a rut writing their next best hit and they agree to swap stories to help each other out. I definitely misunderstood what they meant by swapping stories but overall it was still really enjoyable!
The character development was good and the timing of things went at a good pace. A sweet, quick read!

She did it again! I absolutely adored this story and think i have now added Eleanor Goymer to my list of must read authors. The Fallback was my book of the year last year and now i think the plot twist is a new favourite!

Well, this was fine. I was hoping for more— more chemistry, tension, more excitement…just more. The concept was good and I would try another book by this author. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!

Firstly thank you One More Chapter and NetGalley for an ARC I'm exchange for an honest review. There are spoilers in this review.
This book sounded right up my street and I did enjoy but it wasn't quite what I was expecting.
Firstly the good stuff, the main character Allie is likeable and funny. The pacing was also good and some of the side characters were cute.
Now the negatives I felt the 'villain' of the story was one dimensional and that entire sub plot fell a bit flat for me, I guessed one of the twists with the and the subsequent drama over that could have been avoided with communication. I'm also fine with closed door love scenes but I didn't even realise we were having a closed door moment as the previous chapter didn't indicate we were there yet and next thing she woke up in his bed.
Despite what synopsis states this wasn't a straight up lets plot switch and write different books it was her great idea AND helping him reignite spark in his marriage whilst she used that as inspiration for a romance novel as well as starting her own romance and being inspired there too. I just feel some bits were missing or characters did not develop enough.
I'd still recommend for those looking for cute romance read but it may leave you wanting more

To start with I thought I was going to really like this book. It was quite quick to get into, good background information and scene setting.
As positives go, the concept and plot of the book is cute. I enjoyed that is it following authors and that the FMC is a bit of a girl boss.
The cover of the book I also love by the way.
Overall, I struggled with the book though unfortunately. It should have been a quick read as it isn’t too many page long, which is nice. But for some reason it took me quite a while to read through it and I just couldn’t get into it.
I think perhaps the plot was a little predictable for me, which I know is the nature in part of the book and the genre. I didn’t feel particularly attached to the characters either which also made this a slower read.

Thank you so much NetGalley for a gifted copy of this in exchange for an honest review. This was overall a cute love story but I’m not totally sure I would reccomend it. I struggled to get into it

The Plot Twist stars Allie who is a best selling author dealing with a bad case of writer's block. She meets a cute waiter named Will at a publishing event and also meets an older crime author named Martin. She strikes up a friend ship with Martin and they attempt to help each other with their next novels. This novel was cute and kept me entertained. A few things bothered me with the plot. Allie and Will go on a few dates but there didn't seem to be much there. The relationship really wasn't developed. It was fun along the way...but when you get to the end, it was like "are they really that head over heels with each other???". There wasn't a slow burn...no sizzle...no spice. I kept pushing through hoping it would happen...but it didn't. So that was disappointing. While it wasn't what I was hoping for or expecting, I did finish it in a day, so I was entertained and probably hoping to get to the steamy parts...which just didn't materialize.

This book was such a delightful read! From the very first page, I found myself completely immersed in the story. The writing was so approachable and warm, making it easy to connect with the characters and the plot. I loved how the book felt both inviting and engaging, without ever being too complex or hard to follow. It was just the right mix of comfort and intrigue, and I truly enjoyed every moment of it. It’s a wonderful read that I’d happily recommend to anyone looking for a heartwarming escape!

The Plot Twist was a charming love story filled with heartwarming moments, personal growth, and unexpected friendships. Allie and Martin’s connection was one of my favorite aspects of the book. Their mutual struggle with writer’s block led to a creative partnership that not only helped them find inspiration but also fostered a deep, meaningful bond. I especially loved how Martin took on a mentor-like role in Allie’s life, guiding her in ways beyond just writing. The found family element was beautifully woven in, reminding me why I enjoy this trope so much—sometimes, the people who support us the most come from the most unexpected places.
Allie and Will’s romance was sweet and believable. While certain moments felt predictable, their willingness to take risks and step outside their comfort zones made their journey enjoyable to follow. However, there were times when the pacing slowed, and I wished for more development in certain areas—particularly in exploring Allie’s personal growth. Some moments felt like missed opportunities for deeper emotional impact or character expansion.
Overall, The Plot Twist was an engaging and heartfelt read. While I wished for a bit more depth in some parts, the themes of creativity, love, and found family made this a satisfying and uplifting story. Fans of slow-burn romances and stories about writers finding their voices will appreciate this book.

I wasn’t sure how this book was gonna go since the beginning started off a little rocky for me but I kept going and things got better!!! Who doesn’t love a romance book that involves authors? And when a book has the found family trope I’m gonna eat it up every time! The romance of this story was a little underwhelming but I can’t wait to see more from Eleanor’s writing in the future!

I ended up really enjoying this story! The first 3-4 chapters felt a bit bumpy with many characters and problems being introduced, but the book got better with every chapter. I ended up liking the cast of characters a lot and especially the three main characters Allie, Will and Martin. Allie is the female main character and quite likeable at that. I enjoyed tagging along on her writing journey and her love story. Will is the love interest and an interesting character. He is quite mysterious at times and I like how his story unfolds over time in the book. Martin is Allie’s writer friend and buddy. They work nicely together and I like Martin as a character. He is funny and quite direct in his ways. What I would not have needed is possibly the side plot around the evil publisher Jake. It was enjoyable but not needed in my opinion.
All in all I’m happy to have received this ARC and can recommend it to anyone being interested in publishing and the process of writing and likes romances!
