A sweet second chance romance. This one has wonderful characters. I enjoyed going back in time to see how things played out in their relationship. If you're looking for a slow burn romance without the spice, this one is for you.
What is it about the one that you can't ever forget? The person who you fell in love with that you can't get over.
And if you happen to run into them again and all of the feelings are still there....
I enjoyed this book and it pulled me in right away.
A sweet happily ever after.
An engaging tale of second chance romance. Enjoyable look back at how the relationship started and the problem that developed interspersed with today's issues. My dislike was the use of the "f" word and "gd". The gay neighbor added some humor. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.
A second chance romance with dual POVs and relationship flashbacks, this was a sweet and believable love story between trauma nurse Eve and injured FMX rider (and ex husband) Foster. I was rooting for Foster showing Eve he’s grown up but never stoped loving her the whole satiru and was really satisfied but the ending. A fun, feel good read. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
Eve hates the memories of this particular day-- her anniversary to her ex husband. It's the only day they have contact. Foster also has a sinking feeling about the day. But life goes sideways for both of them when he ends up in the ER she works at and in her trauma bay.
The healing process for Foster brings up their whole past, what brought them together, what tore them apart. Lots of healing in this book on all the best and satisfying ways. As the book is written in both perspectives, their current time and past flashbacks, the fully rounded viewpoints were clear without being redundant. The way the writing brought it all together was organic and fun and all that you want for these characters.

Five years after their break-up, Eve is stunned to find that she is still listed as the next of kin for Foster. When he is in an accident, she finds herself at his bedside agreeing to let him move into her one-bedroom apartment to recover. Foster sees it as an opportunity to resolve their unfinished business, knowing that she is the only woman he’s ever loved.
A second chance romance is hard to go past, even after many years apart. They have plenty of baggage which is gradually unpacked as the book goes between the past and present. The dual POV helps to see what went wrong with this relationship, as well as unpack their unresolved feelings for each other. At times, I did wish for more as it seemed as if they could have revealed more about their feelings.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’ll be very honest, I have to DNF this book. It’s not that it is a bad book, it just isn’t a book for me. I have had this book close to a month and a half and haven’t been able to get past chapter 8.
The storyline is cute and quirky, but there is just something for me that it is lacking, and to be honest I can’t even explain what that is.
It’s like it grasped my attention in the beginning but I couldn’t stay reeled in.
I hope others see this book and love it because the concept is good, it’s just not the book for me.
I am incredibly grateful I got an opportunity to read it as an ARC and try it, but for me it was not a hit.
Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I enjoyed reading this book.
It’s been five years since Eve and Foster separated.
Then they meet again, when Foster is in hospital after an accident and as Eve is listed as his contact, she’s there by his bedside.
She lets him live with her in her apartment to get better. Living in a small apartment, the old feelings appear and they start to think whether their relationship is really over.
I recommend this book.
Thank you netgalley and publishers for an advanced copy of this book for my review. This is a well written story about second chances with a will they won't they theme. A couple brought back together when an accident sees one them being nursed back to health by the other. We follow their story as it dips back in time to unfold the reasons behind the couple parting ways.
Eve and Foster broke up five years ago and never met each other again till Foster ends up in the ER where Eve is working as a nurse. Due to Foster’s injuries, he ends up staying with Eve after being discharged. The close proximity finally allows them to clear the issues which led them to their breakup.
While I enjoy their banter, it took a little too long for the important discussions to happen. I also didn’t like that Foster was holding on to such a big secret, but never actually searching for her these past five years. Love wasn’t enough to save their marriage then, is it enough now? Read this to find out.
I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed this book! I think the "will they won't they" aspect was done well, though I would prefer a slightly faster timetable personally. Fun characters too!

Such a wonderful introduction into Aimee Browns writing style.
I’m usually not a big lover of a second chance romance trope and there were times where I genuinely wanted to strangle both Eve and Foster for not communicating 😂
Eve and Foster had a world wind romance and got married after only dating for a month, unfortunately that high hill of Love sent them both crashing back down when reality does that awful thing of rearing its ugly head.
Fast forward 5 years, Eve works as a trauma nurse and whilst on shift one day who turns broken and on the verge of death over then her ex husband. Seeing him for the first time since they broke up, via a note might I add, very slow blow my girl Eve, stirs up a lot of emotions and Eve doesn’t quite know how to handle it all. Due to lack of options Eve ends up nursing our guy Foster back to health but can Eve keep her emotions in check and stick to her guns regarding never falling love again, especially with the man that broke her heart?
This book is told in Duel POV.
You’ve got Age Gap, Second Chance Romance, what more could you want.
Such a wonderful read if you don’t like spice and want to get in romance novels. This definitely the place to start.
⭐⭐⭐ 3.5 STARS! I recommend ‘Still The One’ if you’re looking for a contemporary story about love conquering all – especially when it’s with the one who got away… Thank you to NetGalley, Aimee Brown, and Boldwood Books for the eARC copy in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed my time with Foster and Eve’s love story and appreciated the timely flashbacks presented throughout the book, which caught me up on how these two met and what transpired in their first go at love. After falling in love followed by five years apart, they are brought back together again to see if they can navigate a happily ever after. ‘Still The One’ is full of sweet vibes, heartfelt stares, and I genuinely liked this tale of Foster, a professional athlete (aka adrenaline junkie), falling in love (again) with Eve, his trauma nurse. 😜
✔️ A second chance romance where he falls first
✔️ A collision of two unique flawed yet relatable characters
✔️ A creative meet-cute with sweet vibes, forced proximity, and a happily ever after
I found some side characters to be a tad annoying as they encouraged Eve not to give Foster a second chance after not bothering to ask her what she wanted. I was also surprised by the lack of spice after seeing ‘Still The One’ promoted in comparison to romance books by Emily Henry and Abby Jimenez. There is definite chemistry between Foster and Eve and while I found myself rooting for the characters to ignite their passion on-page it merely resulted in a few stolen kisses and a single closed-door scene.
2.5 stars on this one
I originally requested this book because it said for fans of Emily Henry.
I have loved all of her books and was anxious to read this one.
Unfortunately I feel it was off the Henry mark.
There was zero connection for me, with the characters.
I expected a witty banter between MCs but that was missing.
The depth of the characters was also a miss.
I wanted to adore this book, as I'd hoped but it just wasn't there for me, sadly.
Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the advanced reader copy.
I appreciated getting a chance to spend time in a location that doesn't often get highlighted in rom-coms (Portland, OR) and in an industry that I haven't seen before (professional motocross). Overall, this book was...fine. My biggest issue was that it's clear from the beginning of the book that both main characters are still in love with one another and there isn't something that constitutes a real obstacle in their way. I kept finding that there just should've been a text or conversation that would've cleared everything up quickly.
Brown’s writing is engaging, with a perfect balance of humor and heartfelt moments that draw you in. The characters feel wonderfully real, each with quirks and personalities that make you root for them. The novel’s pace flows effortlessly, and the plot is filled with just the right amount of twists to keep things interesting without losing its heartwarming tone.
I thoroughly enjoyed this slow burn romance—it’s a delightful, uplifting read that reminds you of the importance of trusting yourself and following your heart. If you’re looking for a feel-good book with relatable characters and plenty of warmth, this one is a winner!
Told through the perspectives of both protagonists, this is a cute second-chance story that actually delves into some pretty serious real-world issues. Evie and Fost may have married on a whim, but that doesn't mean their love wasn't true...they just had to do a little bit more growing up and soul searching before they could settle in. With a great cast of supporting characters (like Phil!), this book will make you have all the feelings and still be rooting for them to have their happily ever after!
Still The One by Aimee Brown is a charming, no-spice second chance romance. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
Eve and Foster were once married, but life pulled them apart. Until Foster ends up in the ER where Eve works. Their forced proximity and dual POVs allow us to understand both sides of their story, making their reunion feel heartfelt and authentic. I loved the flashbacks that were woven into the story, letting us see where things went wrong without overwhelming the narrative.
With relatable characters, genuine chemistry, and an easygoing pace, Still The One was such a fun feel-good romance.
Still the One by Aimee Brown is a beautifully crafted, emotional second-chance romance that hits all the right notes for fans of Emily Henry and Abby Jimenez. Eve and Foster’s story is packed with heart, humor, and just the right amount of angst. The tension between them is palpable from the moment they reunite, and Brown masterfully builds on their shared history, making their chemistry feel authentic and hard to resist.
The close-quarters setup of Eve letting Foster move in with her after his accident creates the perfect “will they, won’t they” dynamic. Their banter is both witty and heartfelt, and it’s easy to feel invested in their journey as they rediscover what once brought them together. Eve’s inner struggle with trusting love again, and Foster’s realization of what he lost, add depth to their characters and make this more than just a simple love story.
While some moments are a bit predictable, the warmth and charm of the story make up for it. If you’re a fan of steamy, second-chance romances with complex characters and lots of heart, Still the One is a must-read. It’s a heartfelt reminder that sometimes love deserves a second shot.
Thank you for Netgalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my review.
Eve is an ER nurse, who has sworn off love after getting divorce. As fate would have it, her ex husband, a professional biker, comes into her ER after a near fatal accident. The more time Eve spends helping Foster recover, they both realize their still existent feelings for one another.
I really wanted to love this book because the premise was so unique and intersecting; however, it fell a little flat for me. I couldn’t connect to the characters. They felt surface level to me and I wish we had gotten a deeper understanding of them through heavier dialogue.
I also wish we had gotten more flashbacks of their relationship in the beginning of the book. Seeing them as a happy couple would have built up the desire to have them work out in the present timeline.
Finally, this book was described as perfect for Emily Henry fans. As Henry is the Queen of banter, I felt the banter in this story was lacking. It didn’t have me swooning like the works of Henry have done.
Despite my inability to really connect to the story, I would recommend it to anyone who likes a sweet, easy to read, slow burn second chance romance.
