First time I’ve listened to a book from this series but defo going back to purchase the earlier audios. Great listen, genre right up my street. Hooked in plot, great for an evening of cross stitch, hot chocolate and audio listening!!
Loved. Loved. Loved this audiobook, I had not seen or heard of the series before, so it was a delight to listen to and yes you can jump in at Part 25 and embrace what is going on, I did...but I will be jumping right back out to the beginning asap to get the story in chronological order and live the story as it happens..
The narration was great, characters were fab and the tension was racked up to 100%. I think this might be my new winter-time listening obsession!
I want to give this 4 and a half stars but couldn't round down so it's a five... I love pretty much everything RR Haywood writes and this episode of the Undead, in particular, is a firm favourite of mine from when I read it, but for me the narration isn't perfect on this one. The narrator has a tremendously difficult job to do as the series grows and expands, with so many new characters being introduced, and he does an excellent job, but I'm one of the people who found the difference between early Dave and Paula and their later versions really jarring, sadly. Having said that, this later episode is much improved on the earlier ones I've been listening to recently, so I appreciate that feedback was probably taken and acted on. I love the extra attention given to Dave and the character dynamics in this story, whilst appreciating others might miss the gore and violence, but there is PLENTY of action and a whole lot of heart. The book ends on a note that left me angry... and hearing it read aloud was powerful and still got me. I'm very glad I've read ahead and know what's to come in the next one or I'd have been left in bits and foaming at the mouth. Very appreciative ARC recipient but I'd have found this myself for sure and loved it like the others. Thank you!
