This story was cute and I would really like it under different circumstances. The backstory for the characters made them inherently unlikeable. This story could work and be really cute without the divorce/"cheating but not" aspect. Bring a novella it was a bit rushed, but the author's note made me want to read the regular series and see things work out better for Reese. I liked her character in this book.
The book tells a story about two people who fell in love with each other at a time they’re not supposed to. It’s a good book, well written with good storyline. But there’s no climax whatsoever.
Thank you to Chrissy Hopewell, NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
This Christmas novella definitely packed a punch! Falling for your best friends husband? CHECK!
Spice? CHECK! Cozy Christmas vibes? CHECK!
While this is a prequel to the series, it starts after the major fall out between two characters marriage. It was a bit tricky to follow for the first few pages but once the initial info dump/world building, happened it was a really fun ride! The "forbidden love" at christmas time was something I could read again and again!
This is a prequel novella but I think it needed to be longer.
Britt is friends with Reese, but falls in love with her husband Adrian. Even if he doesn’t cheat, they divorce and Britt tries to stay away from both of them.
So a friendship and a marriage are ended.
But after 6 months Britt and Adrian work together and help decorate their kids’ holiday dance.
I think the relationship developed really fast and everything seemed rushed.
This book is ok as a quick holiday read, but I would have liked more character development.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
A slightly forbidden ‘almost cheating but not quite’ story. Britt has feelings for her best friend’s husband so distances herself from their family. The best friend and her husband divorce, and now Britt and Adrian are working together on their kids school Christmas dance.
This was a quick read and nice story. I did find myself rooting for Britt and Adrian and could tell they had chemistry, but it didn’t wow me. I am intrigued to know Reese’s story.
Thanks to NetGalley for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

The plot and characters were great but I felt this story was just so undeveloped. This kind of story is best as a full length novel, which I would definitely read without question. It's not the best holiday read but it'll get you in the spirit,
This was ok - maybe I'm not used to morally grey characters or the "almost cheating" tropes - but I found there were a lot of issues presented that weren't seen full circle. The spice was ok - a little cringe - but the actual development left more to be desired.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Fox Hollow Publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The cover got me! I liked the parts that involved meeting at the school and those interactions. Not my favorite holiday book ever, but a good read. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
I really like the plot here, though at parts it felt a little underdeveloped and I wish we would have lingered more in the beginning to really set up the story and relationships.
In this novella we explore the relationship of two people who share this sort of forbidden love because he’s her best friend's (ex)husband and she thinks she broke them up. Having no prior knowledge of the series this is part of, I think this book was what a prequel should be! I think the author got straight to the point in introducing the characters that did not necessarily require you to read the other books in the series (I will definitely be going back and reading those, though!) I felt very immersed in the story as the author is very descriptive in their writing but not in a way that drags the story out. The novella was short and to the point, but not at the expense of the cutesy story.
This novella is a short read and great if you want to get in the holiday spirit without too much of a time commitment!
