"Time Expansion Experiences" dives into the topic of parapsychology by telling the story of various people who have experienced such. In the later chapters the Taylor talks about related subjects like precognition, psychic abilities, philosophy and quantum physics, diving into the intersectionality of it all.

Because of the writing style and personal experiences the author is retelling, the pacing of the book seemed just right and manages to capture the readers attention. Not only during, but also after finishing, readers are left thinking about the various topics the book brings up.

Amazing book about a very niche topic. I'm sure a lot of people can relate to the theory and antidotes given in the book. Great read, definitely recommend

I have previously read Steve Taylor’s “Making Time” and liked it. While we intuitively know that time seems to pass differently depending on the circumstance, his book introduced the framework of psychological time to me. The first chapter of this book summarizes “Making Time”, but I would say its footprints are through the book as well.

The book starts with the example of his car accident. This is one of those situations where time feels expanded (it goes slow) and this is referred to as “Time Expansion Experience (TEE)” through the book. Time does return to a normal flow after such experiences. There are many such situations leading to TEEs – medical emergencies (near death experiences & life reviews such as that experienced by Anita Moorjani), new places & experiences, lesser ego/separation from others (as in childhood), rich perceptions (as in meditation) and others. The more information we need to process, slower time seems to flow. In contrast, intense experiences speed up psychological time and so does growing older.

There are very detailed descriptions of scenarios and experiences. The later sections deal with – whether we can induce TEEs, structure of time – linear time & passing being illusions, block time, precognition and free will.

Steve mentions that he has devoted his life to researching psychological time. He also credits through the book others who work in related areas. I found many of the descriptions to be too elaborate and similar scenarios to repeat. Time is a fascinating concept, and this is an important book. While his earlier book “Making Time” is summarized, I still suggest reading that first if you can.

Time Expansion Experiences explores theories about why time seems to speedup or slow down. Dr.Steve Taylor introduces concepts of Time expansion and Time cessation through case studies and research. The narration was really good. The narrator does a really good job at separating voices for the different case studies.

While the concept of the book was extremely fascinating, and interested me just by reading the synopsis, unfortunately it was not a book for me. I struggled to remember the “TEE’s and TCE’s”, and this acronym was used constantly throughout the audiobook. I found myself lost, confused, and ultimately disinterested.

The concept of time expansion and cessation is a fascinating subject and unique to many other fields of science that we know, and I would be interested to read the book physically instead of audibly. The author does explain things well when concepts are introduced. I just wish they had been clearer throughout.

I would recommend this book to anyone interested in how time works. However this is not a book for the complete novice to scientific reading, and I would recommend some experience in reading scholarly or scientific articles or reports.

In conclusion, the book was fascinating and I really wanted to know more, but in the end I was confused. As stated, I would be interested to obtain a physical copy of the book.
Thank you to Netgalley and Watkins Audio for the Advanced Listener’s Copy (ALC) of this book. All opinions are my own.

What an amazing book. I’ve long been fascinated by ‘time’ and out of body experiences. Many years ago I was involved in a near fatal cataract crash which involved a motorcyclist hurtling towards me on a straight country road. Seconds before impact he swerved hard, the bike tipped and he was thrown into the air, out of sight from my line of vision. As that happened, the bike disintegrated into hundreds of pieces, all moving slowly through the air. Time didn’t stand still, but it slowed to almost freeze frame and forty decades on, I can still recall much of it in vivid detail. It’s an inexplicable experience and it’s never happened again.

Dr Steve Taylor calls these time expansion experiences and this book is numerous accounts of such events. But what’s going on and why? He tackles those questions and there ps much to think about in this detailed exploration of a truly strange phenomenon. Fascinating and thought provoking, well written and I enjoyed the narration.

I really enjoy this and flew through it. The subject is really interesting and I found myself looking back through my life and noticing times when I'd also experienced TEE. The theory of some ghost sightings being timeslips was super interesting too. I would highly recommend this and have already found myself talking about this with people.

This book had me hooked by the first chapter, such an interesting concept and well explained. However, after a couple chapters it did feel a bit repetitive and could have been far more concise.
