A Fey warrior will soon find that his life is not what it seems as his terrors become reality.
The author did a great job making this feel like it was the early 2000s as the story unfolds in 2002. The characters were interesting. The MMC life was in shambles.

**Book Review: *Dioscuri: Secrets of the Fey* by Ralynn Kimie**

*Dioscuri: Secrets of the Fey*, the second installment in *The Infernal Artifacts Collection*, takes readers deeper into the richly imagined world where the paranormal is woven into the fabric of our history. In this thrilling follow-up to *Corpse Walker: The Night Parade*, Ralynn Kimie introduces us to a new realm of supernatural intrigue, following a Fey warrior as he battles both external enemies and the darker parts of his own destiny.

At the heart of this story is a Fey warrior caught in the throes of a civil war within his own kind. Torn between his allegiance to his people and his growing suspicions about the true nature of the conflict, he is also haunted by recurring nightmares of a woman he doesn’t recognize. These dreams set off a series of events that unravel the warrior’s life and thrust him into a high-stakes mission in the mortal world—Terra. Stranded in this unfamiliar world after a failed mission, he is forced to rely on a human agent to help him uncover the secrets behind his disturbing dreams and the powerful forces at play. But what he discovers may change the course of his life—and the fate of both his world and ours.

Kimie’s world-building continues to shine in this installment, offering readers a deeper look at the Fae, their internal strife, and their complex relationship with other realms. The civil war in the Fey world is a compelling backdrop to the story, and the constant tension between the various factions adds an exciting layer of political intrigue. However, the true strength of the novel lies in its exploration of the protagonist’s internal conflict. The warrior is a character burdened by his nightmares and the mystery of his own origins, and Kimie masterfully uses his journey of self-discovery to draw readers into his emotional turmoil. His struggle with his identity and his growing awareness of his role in the larger cosmic puzzle are poignant and resonate deeply, giving the story an emotional weight that elevates the action-packed plot.

The interplay between the supernatural and the mortal realms is handled beautifully. As the warrior is thrust into the mortal world, his interactions with the human agent—who acts as a guide through the unfamiliar terrain—bring a refreshing dynamic to the story. Their partnership is at times uneasy, but it is also full of intrigue, with both characters learning from each other in unexpected ways. The human agent’s role in helping the warrior uncover the truth is a highlight, grounding the supernatural elements of the story in a relatable human experience.

The tension between fate and free will is a central theme in *Dioscuri: Secrets of the Fey*. As the warrior delves deeper into the mysteries of his dreams and his role in the larger conflict, he faces a choice that could determine not only his future but the future of the realms. The exploration of this theme is thought-provoking, adding philosophical depth to the narrative without overshadowing the action or supernatural elements.

Kimie’s writing is as compelling as ever, with vivid descriptions of the Fae world and the supernatural forces at play. The pacing is fast, with plenty of action to keep readers on the edge of their seats, while quieter moments of introspection allow for character development and plot advancement. The book ends with a cliffhanger that will leave readers eager for the next installment in *The Infernal Artifacts Collection*.

Overall, *Dioscuri: Secrets of the Fey* is an exciting, thought-provoking addition to the series. With its rich world-building, complex characters, and exploration of fate, identity, and destiny, it’s a must-read for fans of supernatural thrillers and epic fantasy alike. Ralynn Kimie has once again proven herself a master of blending the paranormal with human emotion, and I can’t wait to see where this series goes next.

Discouri: Secret of Fey by Ralynn Kimie is an enchanting fantasy novel that immerses readers in a captivating world of magic, adventure, and mystery. The story follows a young protagonist navigating through hidden secrets and powerful forces. Kimie’s world-building is vivid, and the plot is filled with intrigue and emotional depth, making for an engaging read. While the pacing can be slow at times, the compelling characters and the unfolding mystery keep the story exciting. It’s a promising start to a fantasy series that fans of the genre will enjoy.

*𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤. 𝐎𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐲 𝐨𝐰𝐧.*

Alright, Dioscuri was a ride. If you love high-stakes fantasy with war, interdimensional politics, and a warrior struggling with dark secrets, this one’s for you. The Fae vs. Imps conflict was intense, and the whole “stranded in the human world” twist added layers of mystery and tension. Plus, the dream sequences? So eerie and gripping.

The pacing was mostly solid, though there were a few moments where the lore got a bit dense. But honestly? The worldbuilding was so rich, and the Infernal Artifacts concept pulled me in. I also really liked the dynamic between the Fey warrior and the human agent—there’s this slow unraveling of truths that kept me invested.

If you’re into dark fantasy with mystery, action, and a touch of the paranormal, Dioscuri delivers. Just be ready to pay attention—this world is deep!

I absolutely loved all three of these books and read them back to back because I needed to know what would happen next! The characters were so well done and believable it felt like I was getting to know new friends and enemies and I was so sad to reach the end! But these are stories that i will absolutely be reading again, the story never went where I expected and had me enthralled throughout.

In the second book in the Infernal Artifacts Collection, readers appear in the midst of a civil war in Fae where a warrior is caught in between the Fey and the Imps, who infiltrate other realms. Distracted by visions or nightmares or dreams of a strange woman, the warrior ends up in Terra, the mortal world, and must uncover the answers to these strange dreams with a human agent’s help. Doing so will require him to commit to this fascinating new life and explore this strange new reality where the paranormal and magical are merely part of life. With a fascinating world and a unique cast of characters, readers who love the mix of high fantasy and magical realism will really enjoy the second book in Ralynn Kimie’s fascinating series. The characters are complex, fascinating, and well-written, but the world building and the magic system are the real stars of the novel. Readers will love the lengths Kimie goes to in building up the civil war in Fae and exploring the otherworldly element of dreams and the roles they can play in the Fae realm, and the twists and turns in this novel will keep readers hooked on this fascinating story.

Very sorry for posting this late! I received this ARC from Negalley on October 20 together with Corpse Walker: The Night Parade from ARC both provided by Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op. Thanks so much.

It is always a breath of fresh air for me when I read books not usual on the genres I read. Sometimes, SciFi & Fantasy really gives me a curiosity on how the authors form a masterful story.

This installment follows Arlo, a fey who is living in a world where marriage is arranged or set up. He was supposed to marry already but was sent to rescue his soon to be wife's sister. This led him to discover things about himself, his life.

I loved how the author was able to narrate the story with different POVs where I as reader was not made confuse of ( actually this was my problem with some of the books I have read. ).

This book is a treasure and I hope with this review other people pick this book. :)

Dioscuri is a fascinating blend of legend, mythology, and history. Plus just the right amount of popular culture, I felt major Men of Letters from Supernatural vibes with our human characters plus their various references to films allowed me to remember it's set in 2002. It is definitely not overdone, only inserted as an aside by one nerdy character. If you're familiar you will see subtle (and not so subtle lol, hi Dioscuri twins) references to Greek, Chinese, Japanese, English, Celtic, and Hindu mythology and folklore.

Kimie definitely puts her own spin on the classic "species" of various worlds; the Fey are what you'd expect and not. There are references to demons, imps, and elves but also gods and goddesses and even just simple ghosts. There are different planes of existence but a lot of interaction between them. I love the trope of "Humans are ignorant Except for this select group of super smart and awesome people that know everything"; Hunters/Men of Letters, S.H.I.E.L.D., U.N.I.T., etc. S.M.O.K.E. and M.I.R.R.O.R.S follows but I do wish they had an easier moniker to type out!

Overall, I liked it and would suggest it for anyone interested in a low to mid fantasy adventure with some mystery. It's a fairly quick read and although it is connected to her first Infernal Aritifacts book, Corpse Walker, it can absolutely be read as a standalone.

Review of Dioscuri: Secrets of the Fey

Dioscuri: Secrets of the Fey is a mesmerizing read that will leave you questioning the very fabric of the world around you. The intricate world-building and layered storytelling are nothing short of spectacular, drawing readers into a realm that feels both magical and eerily plausible.

The author has a remarkable talent for weaving a narrative that keeps you second-guessing at every turn. The twists and secrets are masterfully unveiled, making this a book that’s impossible to put down.

I am thoroughly impressed and can’t wait to explore more works by this author. If you’re a fan of immersive fantasy with a thought-provoking edge, this is a must-read.

Another page turner from Kimie and continued world building. Connections are made between this book and Corpse Walker yet they can both be read as standalone novels and you won’t feel as though you’re missing anything. I love that different mythologies are being explored in the books and in such a way that you don’t need to know the background of the mythology beforehand. If anything these stories make you want to learn more about them. This installment not only had me eagerly turning the page it also made me cry and that is the mark of a very well written story.

Set across multiple realms staring with the Fey, to Earth and the Underworld, this story is a true adventure that keeps you turning pages. Arlo the main character has been plagued with nightmares and when sent on a mission for the Autumn Queen, he realises nightmares can come true. A beautiful, exciting tale and I can’t wait for more.

The fantasy races are colourful and well through through. The majority of the characters were relatable and likeable (though there’s a few I did not like and that’s ok - they were villains - we ain’t meant to like them).

As always with this series, there’s still unanswered questions which I hope will come soon. I can’t wait to read the next installment.

I’m sorry to hear about Twix :(.

Thanks Netgalley and publisher for this ARC.
I requested 3 books by the same author and having not enjoyed the first one much I was dreading reading the following two, well, I was wrong! This was a great read, I don't think readers need to go through the first Infernal Artifacts book necessarily (but please do as you might have a completely different opinion than myself) as even though there are a few ties with that one this feels like a new book featuring the Fae and a new storyline, lots of POVs, I connected to the characters, there is still violence but it was a much better fantasy read overall.
4 stars

Gosh where to start!

This is the first book I read in the Infernal Artifacts series, and while it is the second release. I certainly did not feel like I missed out. I will be going back to read The Corpse Walker though.

NOW - What a fun book! It was exciting and fast paced. Dioscuri: Secrets of the Fey melds lore from all over the place and takes the reader on a mysterious ride through past, present, and future. We follow Arlo, a fey-warrior as he discovers everything he believes he knows about himself is wrong. He is landed right in the middle of an inter-agency war. Kimie takes us on a wild ride, where the fey, elves, imps, humans, etc. are all colliding in search of the items that can help bend fate in their favor. While as I was dying to know what Arlo truly was and what it meant for the story, I still felt like the author didn't make me work hard enough for it. I'm sure he has not reached his full potential, but he just came into power so quick...where's the struggle?!?!

I love that in the Q&A Kimie relates that she has this story planned out so that you can enjoy these as a collection, if read in order of release or you could choose to read the individual series without missing details. I will definitely be going back to read the first release of this collection. Overall I felt this was a solid read. Not overly complicated, but also the cliffhanger didn't leave me wanting in the way I feel like a great book should.

Thank you #NetGalley and Steely Co. Publishing

Originally, I was unsure of how the second book would correlate to the first book as the themes were totally different. I went into this book thinking it would be a sequel, however, towards the end there was a lot of scenes from the previous book that came up. I’m really amazed with how Railynn ties the two stories together, can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

Gosh, this series is so fun and ties in lore from all over. I went into this right after Corpse Walker and initially was wondering where the heck the story was going but somehow she managed to effortlessly tie back into the foundation laid in book 1 even though this story takes place decades later. The continuation of familiar characters' stories was very well done while also passing the torch to the newly introduced characters that are just as loveable. It's like Men In Black but instead of aliens, make it demons and ghosts and other supernatural beings.

I loved this, a new favourite author. Great characters and an intricate story. I loved the complexity and twists and turns. Great read. Thank you to the author. Thank you to #netgalley and the publisher for an ARC.

These books are really well written. I love Ralynn's imagination of connecting this story in a full circle where the characters overlap after they form their story of past, present, identity and future. I'm so glad that at the end of these books, the characters are connected to each of the Demons that escaped from the underworld. I'm not sure how they will connect to maintain or even face the bigger "villians" but it's definitely a fun read.

In this book, you meet the fey clan and a human that is the Key to the Book of Fate. He doesn't know he is and was taken when he essentially died. His wife was an elf and once the Fey saved him, they took him to their realm, glamoured him to believe that he was born there, wiped his memory of anything previously and childhood recognitions. Example, he never wonders why his family doesn't have any photos of him growing up. The Fey Queen is using him for knowledge and intel to try and see if accepting him will help them learn where the Book of Fate is. Within the read, there are connections to the Corpse Walker, the underworld and who the artifact is within this book. the artifacts have transformed into humans. Without giving too much away, It is a good read. But definitely start from the beginning.

A wonderful mix of the real world and fantasy, where there are deeper hidden currents of evil and disaster coming, that none see. And let us not forget the secrets that not only could end all worlds but those that surround our main character. A great, fun read.

I loved the second book in this series! It follows a paranormal plot interwoven with history, which are two of my very favorite things. It involves a secret agent, ancient objects, and a Fey warrior. He has dreams and connections to a woman he doesn't recognize... and her significance to the entire story unfolding. I LOVE a good dream connection, and this one was even better than the first!
