Sara, a successful businessperson in her mid-thirties, orchestrates a holiday for her family to unstable, post-insurrection Egypt that serves as a cover to meet with her ex-lover James. This meeting is complicated by James’s recent legal challenge regarding husband Andy’s paternity of Sara’s seventeen-year-old son, Rick.
The family’s vacation quickly spirals into chaos when Rick’s reckless decision to illegally climb the Great Pyramid leads to police involvement. In desperation, Sara turns to James for help, reigniting their past romance amidst escalating threats against their lives, and finds herself entangled in a web of intrigue and danger. As tensions rise due to James’s position within Egypt’s elite and the implications of his paternity subpoena, Sara must navigate complex family dynamics and rekindle old flames.
The narrative is filled with suspense as they confront not only deeply buried family secrets but also the broader socio-political upheaval occurring around them.
Loved it. Will recommend to others
This book had a good plot and storyline, but my personal preference is for books to not go back and forth from different characters perspectives, so I struggled with that some.
I did like the characters, and liked the story though and think that someone who does not struggle with multiple character viewpoints would enjoy this book!
This was like the mummy 2.0! A contemporary version of the early 2000s hit! It was OK, not as good as a couple of the new remakes of the book but still ok!
