This is a good story! Cordelia’s boyfriend, Garth, is missing. We meet Grace, Cordelia’s mother, who murdered her husband, Cordelia’s father, several years before. The story becomes sinister and twisting, as accusations fly. I have not yet read the first book (I definitely will!) but this can easily be read as a stand-alone. Recommended for a quick read and a page turner!
Thank you so much for this ARC! I absolutely loved Grace in the first book and I was so excited to get early access to this one. Book 1 mentions Cordelia frequently and I was so curious about her! Book 2 brought us into her life - as it was imploding.
Once again, Grace goes undercover as an Assistant, this time at Cordelia's boyfriends law firm, just as he goes missing. I enjoyed Book 2 over the first, it was fast paced and had a much more intriguing mystery. I love Grace as a character - flawed with a seedy past but a mama bear that loves fierce, even if from a distance.
I've now read several Nicole Trope books and they are all five star. Quick reads that appear light at face value but pack some heavy punches. I will be on the lookout for more of her books and fingers crossed for more Grace!
Another smashing book by Nicole Trope. An easy 5 stars, I read the first book and I enjoyed this one just as much. Highly recommended.
2.5 stars
Before I start, I must confess that I haven't read the first book. This showed a lot of promise till the climax and then couldn't just live up to its expectations.
Grace moves to Melbourne to keep a check on her daughter Cordelia who is living with the problematic Gareth. The whole working in disguise was quite fun to read. Cordelia is frantic as she cannot get a hold of breath and unfortunate circumstances get the mother daughter pair meeting up.
The interactions between the pair was realistic but the storyline especially the reveal wasn't anything new. Also the whole stalker part was not required.
On the whole, the book keeps you hooked and it's a good one time read. This was not for me but I am sure there are people who will like it.
I thank NetGalley and Bookouture for the E-Arc and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a good read in the whole. I did struggle to maintain interest at times but I did finish it, not my favourite book.
When does a mother know best? Read this book and find out. Another quick read by Nicole Trope. Very entertaining.
A good read with interesting characters with a good storyline.
I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book in this series but overall it kept me involved in the storyline.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC
I did not realize when I downloaded this book that it was the second installment in the series, so I'm sure there are some missing pieces/some back story that would have been helpful. I love a good murder mystery with a wrongfully accused (or are they?) significant other.
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for an early copy of A Mother Always Knows. I always get excited when a new Nicole Trope book comes out and I also LOVED the title. The book wasn't great, I struggled to get through it and that makes me sad. I hope this series is done now with Grace.
After Grace Morton burned down her family home with her cheating husband still inside, her grief-stricken daughter Cordelia cut her mother completely out of her life. For six years, Grace has watched her beloved daughter from afar, texting her every morning and getting no response. But a mother always knows when her child needs her, and Grace has a feeling she needs to keep a close eye on Cordelia and her older boyfriend Garth. When Garth goes missing and Cordelia is the prime suspect, she turns to her mother for help, and Grace will do anything to protect her darling daughter.
We met Grace in Not a Good Enough Mother, and she is such a fascinating character. A devoted mother who is deliciously morally grey, she’s a master of disguises and deception, and there’s literally nothing she won’t do to protect her child. This fast-paced suspense is full of red herrings and surprises, and I did not see the big twist coming!
You can easily read this one as a standalone, but I recommend reading Not a Good Enough Mother first to enjoy Grace’s whole twisted story!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me an advance copy of this book.
A Mother Always Knows (Grace Morton Book 2) by Nicole Trope
All That Grace Morton wants is to have her daughter in her life again but after Grace burned down their house six years ago, killing her husband, Cordelia has cut her mother out of her life completely. What can Grace do but keep a close eye her daughter through Instagram. Grace sees that Cordelia’s boyfriend Garth is not very nice when he makes comments on Cordelia’s posts so she gets a job in Garth’s law firm in Melbourne but no sooner does Grace arrive in Melbourne when tragedy strikes Cordelia that is so big she needs her mother by her side. Garth is missing, maybe dead and Cordelia is the main suspect. Grace is more than happy to help her daughter in her hour of need.
I loved this book as much as the first one. I could not wait to find out what really happened to Garth and have to admit I suspected Grace as she seems like the kind of person who would do anything to make her daughter reach out to her and mend their rift in their lives.
I would like to thank Net Galley and Bookouture for a copy of this eBook in exchange for an honest review.
I was see happy to see another book about Grace Morton. I loved the last one and wow I loved this one aswell. I would say you don’t need to read the first to read this but it is amazing so I definitely would. This was a real page turner with so much drama and suspense throughout. I again loved how the characters were written and how fast paced the story was. I loved Graces character she has a bit of everything going on Nicole Trope is such a talented author to be able to write a character like that. Overall I loved this and will definitely be recommending this to everyone. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this great book.
The saga of Grace Morton continues in this highly addictive sequel to The Assistant, which has been newly named, Not a Good Enough Mother. This book was lots of fun. A true page turner that I couldn't put down. We are introduced to Grace's daughter, Cordelia, and thrown into another tale of betrayal, secrets, and lies. Grace is sensationally portrayed as a bada$$ MC, and I will keep my fingers crossed that Trope includes her in another book. Totally recommend this one! Make sure to start with book one in order to fully capture Grace's character.
Thank you to Bookouture for granting me digital access via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review!
This was such an enjoyable read. Was the perfect way to continue the series. Highly recommend any books by this author.
Wow! I continue to be amazed by Nicole Trope! She sure delivers every single time. A rich cast of characters and fantastic storytelling made it impossible to put this book down. Filled with tension, lies and family ties. It’s always a pleasure to sink into a Trope novel. Lots of herrings that made it impossible to know who to trust. Big on creep factor, bigger on fabulous. Don’t miss this one.
Thank you NetGalley, Nicole Trope and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this cracker of a book.
Absolutely perfect! But I wouldn't expect anything different from this author. The mystery and twists and turns was done so well!
This was a strong sequel in the Grace Morton series, this had that psychological thriller element that I was looking for and enjoyed from the genre. The characters were everything that I wanted and was engaged with the overall story being told. It was tense and worked well overall. I enjoyed how good Nicole Trope wrote this and can’t wait for more.
This is the second book featuring Grace Morton. I loved the first book so much I couldn't wait to read this and it didn't disappoint. Another exciting read and Nicole Trope has become one of my favourite authors so much that I have downloaded another of her books. Grace is a brilliant character who would do anything for her daughters which is totally understandable if a little dangerous at times. These two books are a must read.
Over protective mother Grace doesn't like her daughters boyfriend, so when he goes missing and Cordelia is accused of murdering him Grace goes into Mama bear mode..
This is a terrific read and to be honest i didn;t know what to think of Grace.. she comes across as a tad psychotic at times.
I resally enjoyed this book, it has some twists, some red herrings and a lot of drama. I was OMG'ing on almost every page..
It's brilliant

In " Not a good Enough Mother" we are introduced to Grace Enright aka Grace Morton who was Ava Green’s Assistant - we also find out that Ava is her Grace's daughter.
In this story we are introduced again to Grace who is being a bit (a bit??) over protective with her daughter Cordelia.
Grace doesn’t like Cordelia’s choice in boyfriend Garth. Cordelia is twenty-four and Garth knows she will come into a nice Trust Fund when she turns twenty-five. He is thirty- three and sometimes treats her like a child
Grace decides to follow him aka stalking him ~ she uses a disguise as he has surely seen pictures of her.
She discovers that Garth has secrets worse than she imagined and she knows Cordelia is in danger.
When Garth goes missing Cordelia is upset however the next thing we know the police are accusing her of his murder.
Grace, of course, goes into protective mode and wants to clear her daughter.
This is my seventh Nicole Trope story!. I love her psychological thrillers and look forward to the twists and turns and ‘Big Reveal’
Book #1 was a WOW read for me so went into this story with high expectations. Perhaps a little too high as although I enjoyed it was not quite the Big Wow of " Not A Good Enough Mother".
Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for granted me this Great early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for December 9, 2024.
