🌶️.5/🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (1.5 spice rating)

Wasn’t much character development which was a downer and it kind of felt repetitive at times.

I love that it was centred around auctioning world, for someone that has grown up going to auctions it was fun to read. Very unique setting.

Really enjoyed the chemistry they had, the romance was great! I can’t stand a slow burn so I’m so glad this story wasn’t that! And although I rated it 1.5/5 for spice it was the perfect amount.

I can’t wait to read more from Dawn Anderson, as this was her first novel it was great start!

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC

Highest Bidder by Dawn Anderson offers a unique glimpse into the competitive world of car auctioneering, introducing readers to Hunter Smith and Myles Johnson, workplace rivals to romantic partners filled with tension, banter, and unexpected turns.

The car auction industry was new to me so it brought something fresh while also adding intrigue to the story.

Hunter and Myles chemistry and their playful banter and the way their relationship evolves made me love this book!

I think some aspects could have more depth and emotion to make me love the caracthers even more.

Overwall it was a good book and some plots could be more explored but it was a fun read.

This book was a fun book to read. I loved the story line and the characters romance in this book. I don't read much romance like this I'm more or a dark romance but dipping my toes into other romance novels. This one was worth the read hands down.

This book had so much potential to be a good contemporary romance in a unique workplace setting (auctions/auctioneers). But it ended up being very cringy and written at a low reading level.

Highest Bidder is a fun, fiery enemies-to-lovers romance packed with witty banter, undeniable chemistry and just the right amount of emotional depth. Myles and Hunter start off as workplace rivals, each with something to prove, but as their walls come down, their tension turns into something much more intense. Anderson crafts a compelling story with strong character development, laugh-out-loud moments and plenty of spice. If you enjoy a workplace romances with sass, heart and heat, this one’s a must-read!

Myles and Hunter were everything to me! The chemistry between them was so intense, and I loved that it was dual POV so we got to know both characters a little better.

Thank you so much to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the arc. 🫶🏻

Pre Thoughts:
- Enemies to lovers Rom-com

Post Thoughts
- The Relationship between Myles and Hunter is the literal definition of enemies to lovers.
- This is one ARC that I simply read twice due to the chemistry between the FMC and the MMC.
- Also love the Dual POV aspect of this book.

I enjoyed this witty and banter filled rom com. I ended up liking Myles before Hunter simple because Myles had the whole small town guy vibe going for him. And he worked for everything he had, while at the beginning Hunter seemed like the spoiled little rich girl who liked to name drop daddy's name. But she quickly grew on me. And this one was one of the more spicy rom coms. That didn't bother me, but I know many readers like that warning.

I don't think I've ever read a book where any of the characters were auctioneers! It was odd to start with, but didn't take too long to get on board with it though it does sound like a very busy way of living and working!

Told from a dual POV, which is my favourite!

Myles has been working at the auctions for years as a lane runner and someone has recently retired. He's convinced the auctioneer position is his but then it's given to a tiny little woman with big hair - the daughter of one of the most famous cattle auctioneers in the country! Now he has to work alongside her as her lane runner but it's hard for him to keep his disappointment from showing - no matter how much he's drawn to her.

Hunter has a lot to prove in this male dominated industry - she may have gotten the job because her dad made some calls on her behalf but she still has to prove she's got what it takes. Much easier to do when someone isn't openly hating you.

Of course, they're drawn to each other and it really doesn't take long for Myles to pull his head out of his arse long enough to realise that it's not Hunter's fault he didn't get the job and he really shouldn't be taking it out on her. It takes him even less time to realise he's a goner for her.

I actually really liked their relationship. Once Myles apologised and Hunter began to let him in, he was a completely puppy dog around her. More than willing to wear his heart on his sleeve for her. There is no third act break up - once they're together, they're together and that's it; which is awesome - can't stand the third act break up!

I absolutely enjoyed this book. This is the first time I have read anything by Dawn Anderson, and I was not disappointed. The characters and story line were well written. I was hooked from the beginning, and I couldn't put it down. I devoured this book. I loved the trope of enemies to loves but without the mistake to mess up the relationship, and it also had the perfect amount of spice. I definitely recommend this book to romance readers. I can't wait to read more from this author.

ARC Review – Thank You, NetGalley

I genuinely enjoyed this story and appreciated its unique backdrop, which set it apart from other romance books I’ve read. The slow-burn romance was intriguing, but at times, the pacing felt uneven—progressing a bit too slowly early on and then feeling rushed once the plot picked up near the end.

Overall, it’s a solid read and makes for a refreshing palate cleanser.

Loved it. Enemies to lovers romance with no stupid bump in the middle that makes them break up! Good levels of spice which added to the plot! Gonna check out the authors back catalogue now.

ARC gifted for review from NetGalley.

I really did enjoy this story. I thought Dawn Anderson was able to build relation between main and side characters that felt real and believable.

My 2 biggest critiques of the book are the pacing of the love story and the emphasis on clothing descriptions. As much as I was rooting for our heroines to get together and there were giggle inducing moments, the story taking place over only 2 weeks really took me out of the story and I can say the same thing for the clothing descriptions. There were times when it felt like we got unnecessary details on the small things that distracted from the overall story.

That said, I really did love Hunter and Myles. There was really good representation for Narcissistic abuse by a parent, escaping domestic violence, and the resiliency of single mothers (the parent of the MMC). Their love story was definitely fast, but they had insanely good chemistry. I also really liked the elements of auctioneering included in the text. I have no experience on whether or not it’s accurate, but as it’s something I have no experience with, it was helpful context and very important to who our characters are.

Overall, this book was really enjoyable and a fun time. It was a great before bed read because the stakes weren’t too high and the characters were fun to root for

I enjoyed reading Myles and Hunter’s story. I thought Myles was initially not very likeable because of how he behaved towards Hunter, but he soon won me round. I enjoyed the spark Hunter had, and I was soon hoping for a happy ending for them both.

3.75/5

This was a quick and enjoyable read!! The banter was fun and watching the dynamics chance to enemies to lovers had me wanting more. I loved the dual POV, and the auctioneers aspect of it was fun as I’ve never read a book where the characters did that as a profession. I’m excited to read more from this author in the future!

I really enjoyed this one, I liked both the MC's and enjoying reading about their jobs in an industry I hadn't come across before. I liked how both characters had flaws and owned that about themselves and worked to be better.

I love a good dual POV romance. I always feel like I get to know the characters so much better this way. There’s lots of flirting and overall this was a cute book.

Fun read, the story of Myles and Hunter, set in the world of auctions. They don't get off to the best start when Myles accuses Hunter of stealing her job, but will they give in to the attraction between them?
