I loved this book as it was completely different to previous novels. Why would a man break out of prison a day before being due to be released? It's a story of greed, deceit, hatred and love. Kept me gripped to the very end

I am slowly getting round to my 'to-be-read' pile and this has been on it since 2015!!! I can't believe it has taken me this long to read this as I definitely missed a treat.
The plot is engaging and compelling being written in the past and present perspectives. It's full of excellent characters, twists, turns, action and all written at a great pace. The tension is palpable so much so that I had to take a break towards the end as I was desperate to get to the end and reading so fast that I felt I was missing things but when it came, it was very satisfying.
Definitely recommended to lovers of this genre and if you haven't read this yet, go and find it ... you won't be disappointed.
Many thanks to the author, Little, Brown Book Group and NetGalley for enabling me to read and share my thoughts of Life or Death.

This book had me hooked from the outset.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been so engrossed in a book. So many twists and turns to keep you guessing.
Thoroughly enjoyed this from one of my favourite authors.
4.5 stars

I love this book! It is an emotional roller coaster; sad, poignant and heartwarming. It has action and introspection, mystery, excitement and suspense, and the writing is top-notch, as expected from Michael Robotham.
I was glued to this book from start to finish, yet savoured it taking several days to fully enjoy the experience because the plot is complex and deserves the one's full attention. The opening is a work of genius - Audie Palmer escaping from prison the day before he is due to be released after a 10 year stretch - and the ending is, well, I'll have to admit to being a bit tearful over the last few pages.

It's been a bit of time since I've read a thriller - so many good Christmas books out there to indulge in - and this one has been languishing in my list for far, far too long. One of the most riveting novels I've read this year, and most definitely an author I'm going to be looking to for more thrills!
Audie Palmer escapes from prison the day before his release date. That seems quite ridiculous to most people - me included - but is there someone out there who knows why? This is a slow release book, evenly paced throughout the story with enough revelations to keep the reader riveted. The tension is palpable and it makes for an intense, riveting read! Did I know where it was headed - NO. Did I suspect how it would play out - Absolutely NOT. Did I enjoy it? Oh, YES, each and every word. Loved, loved, loved everything about this one, and feel very appreciative for the author's skill in writing such a superbly structured story - one I won't forget for quite some time. I've already recommended it to my nearest and dearest - and he's so picky you'd hardly believe it!
My thanks to Little, Brown Book Group for my copy via NetGalley. I chose to read this of my own free will - and I'm so sorry it took so long to reach the top of my list!

Why would a man escape from prison the day before he's due to be released?
This book I belive is a standalone, it's set in America.
An interesting plot, woven brilliantly.
A well written book, likeable characters.

This is a great book that asks a lot of questions of the reader. Why would Audie Palmer escape from prison the day before he was due to be released? Why has he never let slip where the missing money is hidden from the robbery and murder he was convicted of? and why is he interested in the son of the policeman who shot and almost killed him?
All this questions are answered gradually in a breakneck manhunt. There's also a beautiful love story running alongside the main plot which I found genuinely moving in this high octane thriller. Highly recommended.
