I usually like dual-time stories, but in this one I really was only interested in the historical part. The writing didn't capture me very much, but I did want to see how this one ended, so it kept me interested enough.

The Poppy Factory is a stand-alone historical novel by Liz Trenow. Set in 1922 and 2012 it tells the story of two women bought together by two very different wars. I quote enjoyed this book. It was a bit slow paced and it wasn't the kind of novel that grips you but it was entertaining enough. Jess and Rose are both good characters and Trenow flips between their two stories well. The Poppy Factory is not going to blow your socks off but it is enjoyable enough if you are looking for a quiet read.
