I loved this story, It had everything you would expect from a book by Fenella - romance, drama, a great story and some gasp out loud moments! I really hope this isn't the last we'll be hearing from the Roby family as I think there are more adventures to be had! Another great read by one of my favourite authors (weirdly, I only discovered her work a couple of years ago, but I've caught up with a lot of her books in that time!).

As usual a fantastic well written story from Fenella J Miller. Her wartime books bring you into the heart of the people who lived through the experience and see from their eyes the horrors that they faced.
Elizabeth Roby along with her husband Johnathan live a privileged life, bit when war strikes and her husband moves them all to the family she has to adjust to a new way of life including looking after Emily and George her two children which the nanny has always taken care of.
Brilliant start to what looks like a fantastic series can’t wait for the next one!

Elizabeth has lived a life of privilege . She is living in London with her husband and two children . As war is declared she finds her life completely changed as the move to a small ve=illage and she must learn to take charge of her own household and children. Can she adapt to the changes and find a really more joyful life?

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it in one day, honestly couldn't put it down , brilliant storyline and lovely characters and nice to see people can change when it matters, really hope there is a follow on from this

A lovely gentle easy read just what i needed after an awful lot of thrillers.
Well written characters and although not that much happened i still found it enjoyable.
My only complaint was the very abrupt ending.
