Twenty Bears - Kathryn Simmonds & Alison Brown
☆☆☆
"Time to stop for tea and cakes. How much mess can 10 bears make?"
A good little counting book great for early years teaching and for fundamental counting skills for young children. I can see little ones laughing a lot at the illustrations and silly bears 🐻

I really liked this funny picture book. I shared it with my son and we both enjoyed the rhyming scheme and opportunity to count to 20.

It was funny and sweet - very charming!

Super cute and charming counting book, that goes up to 20. Great rhyme and energy as we track the bears whilst they endeavour to tidy up. Spoiler alert: it doesn't quite go according to plan!

A charming counting book full of beary fun - perfect for reading to little ones at home or in the classroom. With simple rhyme and gorgeous illustrations, there's plenty action on each page to keep readers entertained and lots of scope for role-playing. The bears, who are having a spring clean after waking from their hibernation are instantly relatable and endearing, making mistakes and getting things wrong. The rhyme is simple but effective and adds an extra layer of engagement to the text.
I particularly liked that this book covers numbers to 20 rather than 10, which I haven't seen often in a picture book. This also adds extra scope for learning and use in the classroom.

This book gets readers to practice counting without it feeling patronising and I love the range of bears; all ages, types and personalities. Absolutely adore the additions of follow along search & find elements to add more re-readability!

A lovely counting story!

I read this to my son, who enjoyed the story. He liked the fact the story rhymed and he loved the beautifully vibrant illustrations. He found it funny when the bears were spring cleaning, but instead of tidying up they were making more mess. this reminded me of when my son likes to help me tidy, but can be more of a hindrance!

This was a really fun book, the illustrations were great. I enjoyed that there were lots of different types of bears, and that counting and number recognition were present.

This is one I'd recommend, and will look out for a copy when its released for my niece. Thank you so much to Netgalley and Bloomsbury Publishing plc for the advance egalley of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are my own, and feedback from my son who I read to.
