I like how many different types of stitches are included in this book. However, I don't find this book to be beginner friendly. With the way the sections are laid out, it feels like you need to have a good grasp of stitch shorthands and/ or be able to read stitch diagrams to be able to comfortably use the book. While there is further information regarding these at the back, as a beginner trying to use this book, I found it very off-putting to have to go searching to see what support information had been included. I feel like this information would be much more suited to being included at the start of the book before any of the stitch patterns so readers know what to expect and beginners are less likely to get overwhelmed by the patterns.

As a someone who's brand-new at crochet, I appreciated the instructions at the back of the book showing how to do many of the stitches. But I do wonder why those graphics weren't included in the front of the book that shows the photos and patterns for those stitches - it would've made this much easier to understand.

Very well thought out and easy to follow! I did this with my 12 year old niece and was also able to figure the stiches out easily.

This is a very good stitch dictionary. I’ve been crocheting for years and learned so much. Each stitch was clear and easy to understand even for beginners. To really grow and create your own patterns as a crocheter, learning new stitches is the way to go. I made a few dishcloths to try out the new stitches. This would make a great gift for the crocheter in your life no matter the skill level.

This compendium of crochet stitches and patterns looks quite attractive and professional. I shared the preview galley with a relative who recently taught herself basic crochet techniques by watching videos. She was impressed by the wealth of information but thinks that beginners may find some of the symbols and directions difficult to understand. Experienced crocheters may like it asa reference tool.

I meet with a group where some of the other members crochet while we catch up, and I've been wanting a good introduction so I can learn on my own. This book is excellent, with easy-to-read instructions and illustrations that show clearly how to crochet different kinds of beginner stitches. I think that I could make several wonderful gifts with these basic stitches. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.

A very well constructed book, with clear explanations and explanatory diagrams. Combining symbols and written explanations is a very good idea, and the patterns offered are very varied. An essential book for any crochet enthusiast.

I really liked the flexibility of this book. It covers a lot of basic stitch patterns, and explains how to use them. I think it might be helpful to have an example, maybe a hoodie or something to demonstrate how to use gauge, the math for calculating foundation chain lengths, and shaping in an actual garment pattern. I liked that this sort of creative approach to crochet is facilitated though in this book, rather than just specific patterns with specified yarns and hooks. I especially like that each stitch pattern includes a diagram. That is such a useful skill, and having the diagram makes it easier to make sense of any ambiguous text instructions. So far in the stitch patterns I read through carefully they seem pretty straightforward though. I may be adding this book to my crafting library next year, and will recommend it to my friends who are developing their crochet skills..

It shows the crafts well and is easy enough to follow. I’m not currently starting any projects,, but if I were this would be a good tool as a beginner.

This book is incredibly useful and beautifully put together. The images of the stitches are stunning, and the instructions are clear and well-written. It offers an impressive variety of stitches, organized into sections like lace, shells and fans, and edgework, making it easy to find exactly what you need.

The introduction is particularly helpful, covering how to incorporate these stitches into patterns and how to shape pieces effectively. There’s also a section at the back with detailed instructions on how to crochet and form the basic stitches, making it a great resource for beginners and experienced crocheters alike.

This is a must-have addition to every crocheter’s library!
