A billion percent just what all traders NEED to read right now. So so glad more people are writing about Palestine. Amazing listen and so happy I was chosen to review. Have recommended to every soul I know. Great work and looking forward to more from the author soon. Brilliant job! #freepalestine
This book is a primer, but also a very short-lived one. The book discusses "near-futures" which have already passed. While it does its job giving an outline of the boycott to lobby movement, it's not going to be a book with a long life-span. There are also other books which offer a much better overview of Palestine and the BDS movement. Even the portion of the book that debunks common Israeli myths is all content that can be found in
"Ten Myths About Israel" by Ilan Pappe. The unique part of this book is information about the boycott to lobby movement. Everything else, I would recommend other books for this topic.
The narrator of the audiobook has a pleasant voice.
Regarding the content of this book the first two thirds are a great source of information and inspiration for the evolution of the boycotting movement. However, it does fall into repetition. Add to that the section in which it delves into conspiracy theories, basically presenting them with the same gravity as confirmed political operations.
It could have benefited from removing the repetition sand not mentioning "coincidences", since they drag the work down.
Thank to NetGalley for the audio-arc in exchange for an honest review.
This book was well researched and written. It shed light on and discussed concerns regarding foreign complicity in the war on Gaza, specifically that of the USA. And detailed how they were planning to use lobbying to the Palestinian people's advantage to counter AIPAC.
"Boycotts 2.0 Unleashed" offers an examination of the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict while situating it within a broader political and historical context. The author provides readers with an analysis of the historical roots of the conflict, dissecting the narratives and the myths that have supported the Zionist political movement.
One of the book's strengths is its effort to debunk commonly held Zionist myths. The author presents evidence and arguments that challenge popular assumptions about the legitimacy of the Zionist movement, the occupation of Palestine and its impact on the local population.
Moreover, the book delves into the rise of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement as a response to AIPAC's lobbing efforts ans its detrimental effects on the Palestinian cause. It positions boycotting as not just a political statement, but as a necessary tool for advocating social justice and human rights.
The last part of the book addresses a bunch of theories (here called "coincidences") with which I personally disagree. I find it unfortunate that the author chose to include them in a book that presented until that point such compelling arguments in favour of the Palestinian cause and world peace in general.
This is a thought-provoking and meticulously researched book that highlights the potential of youth-led movements to drive significant change.
Despite being familiar with much of the historical and political background, I still gained a lot from this concise book. It offers a compelling exploration of the power of collective action in the digital age, particularly focusing on the strategies and tactics employed by Gen Z to challenge the status quo. The book delves into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the influential role of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
This is a must-read for anyone interested in social justice, activism, and the power of collective action in the digital age. It not only educates but also inspires readers to become catalysts for change.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC of this book. The ARC in no way impacts the rating of the book and all of my reviews contain my honest opinions.
