May as well laugh through the seasons of life, right? This season is interesting, to say the least. This fun book brought humor to it and was so fun!
VERY INTERESTING AND FULL OF FACTS SO GOOD TO BE ABLE TO READ BOOKS ON THIS TOPIC. WILL RECOMMEND. THANKS FOR THE ARC AND SHALL READ MORE
Well, ladies, brace yourselves because Shirley Serban’s "Color Me Menopausal" is about to be your new BFF in this wild ride called perimenopause. If you're ready to laugh through the hot flashes, memory lapses, and the mystery of "Where Did I Put That?"—then this book is for you. It’s like if your menopausal journey had a party, this book would be the invite you’d actually want to RSVP to.
You know that feeling when you’re in public, and your bladder is suddenly like, “We’re not waiting for a bathroom, we’re going NOW!”? There is a maze in this book that gets you. Help your menopausal self navigate through a maze to find the restroom without getting stuck in traffic or, worse, in a Pilates class where you can’t escape the sweat without looking like a puddle. Pro tip: take the secret route and avoid any unscheduled yoga sessions—you're already stretching it as it is
Sure, there’s brain fog. But activities like word searches, scrambles, and quizzes will help remind you that your brain is still in there somewhere. Can I find "Hot Flash" without having one? Challenge accepted. The tips for planning your own perimenopause party are just what you need. Forget the glitter and cocktails. This party might involve wearing an ice pack on your neck while you sit directly in front of a fan and discuss hormone replacement therapy like it’s a new Netflix show.
As if the book couldn’t get any better, there are coloring pages. I’m talking about the kind of adult coloring that helps you pretend you’re not about to melt into a puddle of sweat in the middle of your office. Let’s face it, no one *truly* expects to remain composed while sweating buckets at the dinner table—unless, of course, you’ve colored in a serene “Menopause Mountain” before it. Then maybe you can meditate your way through it.
Let’s be honest, if we can’t laugh about menopause, we might just start crying—and then we’ll need more tissues, which we’ll forget where we put, anyway. So go ahead, grab this book, and remember, you’re not alone. We’re all in this sweaty, sleep-deprived, brain-fogged, hilariously dramatic rollercoaster together.
Also, I’m totally planning my next perimenopause party. Just don’t expect me to stay out past 7 PM.
4.8 ⭐️
A gift-worthy punny activity book that begs women to pause and reflect on the essence of our womanhood.
🚺 It’s feminine, reflective, mindful, and downright funny. Perfect for perimenopausal or menopausal puzzle lovers, that want to destress.
❤️🩹 I was excited about this book for several reasons. I started my perimenopausal journal a few years ago, after decades of torturous periods and undiagnosed endometriosis. Lately I’ve been on a highly reflective health journey, and have been starting to tune in to more podcasts and books on menopause, just to find some bonding with others. I also love adult coloring and honestly thought this book was going to be just that, but was pleasantly surprised that it was so much more.
🧩 This book packs a variety punch with puzzles and activities (like word scramble, Madlibs, word search, what is your spirit animal, etc.), but also offers a few coloring pages, a memory log for your period journey, and more, all with hilarious puns and terminology to keep this lighthearted.
🎁 This is one of those perfect girlfriend gag gifts that will actually be used if they are into puzzles. I already have some ladies in mind that will laugh and love this book.
Thanks to NetGalley, Quarto Publishing, and Shirley Serban for providing me with a complimentary ARC to review!
3.5 stars! Although I'm not *quite* at that age yet, I couldn't resist requesting this book thanks to the eye-catching color and title. A hard copy of this would make a great gift for a woman of a certain age with a good sense of humor. Thanks to NetGalley for the free copy in exchange for my honest review!
I liked the idea behind this book. It’s a colouring and activity book aimed at supporting people going through menopause, and it does so in a fun, engaging, and humorous way. It resonated with me because I use creativity and humour in the menopause work I do, and I could immediately see how useful this would be—not only for myself but also for my clients, especially those struggling emotionally.
There are some great activities in the book, I also appreciated that the images felt diverse in parts, which is such an important detail. On top of that, the activities seem like they could spark some interesting conversations—for others who are experiencing similar things.
The downside for me is that it doesn’t work as an e-book. This is something you’ll want in print—you’ll need to colour in and fill out the pages. I wouldn’t recommend the digital version, It’s something I’d use myself, share with friends, and recommend to clients. It’s a great little resource to have on hand during this stage of life!
Thank you Quatro and NetGalley for this ARC.
Color Me Menopausal is a cute little activity book similar to the ones we used to enjoy as kids. It has search a Words, quizzes, colouring pages, spot the differences and some facts all under the theme of menopause.
This would be a fun stocking filler for a good humoured friend.
Very informative while being silly. I love the games and word searches. I felt like I learned a lot by accident.
4 stars
This was a fun yet informative book all about menopause! Color Me Menopausal would be best as a paperback, but I had the privilege of receiving an advance copy of it in exchange for my honest review. I think this gave really great facts in a way that could really engage the reader. It was fun and informative! Thank you NetGalley for the chance to review this book!
[Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. This is my honest opinion but just another opinion, you should read it and judge it by yourself]
Great book!
It's a funny way of discover menopause and perimenopause, it's entertaining and also informative. I've read an eARC so I think a paper copy would be better and funnier but it's fantastic anyway, full of games, mazes, quizzes and tips.
This is a short, light hearted, fun activity/workbook! It's full of games, colouring, activities to do, and information that is relevant to the audience (though this content should not be considered medical advice). I think it would be a fun book to gift, and a print copy would be beneficial for all the activities. Perimenopause etc. is a hard journey and this certainly gave me a good laugh!
Thank you to Netgalley and Walter Foster Publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book is both funny and informative. Menopause is something that isn't talked about enough considering if affects approximately half the population of the world at some point in their lives. For suffers, the menopause can be quite overwhelming and leave you feeling quite lonely if you're not lucky enough to have supportive, understanding people around you. This makes publications both a necessity and a god send.
A fun book of a lot of activities that put a fun spin on Menopause. If you can look at this humor it will definitely make it easier to deal with.
This book also supplies lot of information on menopause, some things you need to help you survive it better and suggestions of other accoutrement to help the rest of your body.
If you have friends that are just beginning this transition and they have a sense of humor, this would be a fun book to give.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.
Finally -- a colouring book specifically designed for the perimenopausal & menopausal person! Cute, funny & informative, I look forward to getting a paper copy of this when it comes out and going to town with some scented markers.
Honestly not a great book to read through digitally, but a physical copy would make a fun gift for a perimenopausal friend. Less of an adult colouring book than it is an activity book/perimenopause journal.
This is SUCH a cool activity book, and it's incredibly informative! I also love that it's been created by another kiwi! As someone who's struggling with very very early menopause, this is a delight and I will definitely be recommending this to some friends who are also struggling with it that need a laugh!! Thank you for this!
Thank you Netgalley for the advance reader copy of Color Me Menopausal by Shirley Serban in exchange for an honest review. This book was funny and informative. A hardback copy of it would be a great party gift for any woman going through menopause.

Book Review: Color Me Menopausal by Shirley Serban
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hey there, friends! If you’re looking for a light-hearted way to tackle the wild ride of menopause, then I've got just the book for you: Color Me Menopausal by Shirley Serban. Seriously, this activity book is like a hilarious lifeline tossed to us hormonal warriors.
From the very first page, I found myself chuckling at the clever activities designed to guide us through the chaos of perimenopause and menopause. One of the most entertaining parts is figuring out your menopause superheroine name based on your birth month (mine is Crampy Hacker Droopy Boobs 😂} —because who doesn’t want to feel a little super now and then?
The pages are packed with a variety of fun stuff. There’s everything from mazes that help you “Stop the Leak!” (let's be real, we all need that bathroom map sometimes) to word searches that challenge you to find all the creative names menopause has picked up over the years. And don’t even get me started on “House Partay!”—the differences between our past partying selves and our current "I’d rather stay in with a hot flash" selves had me laughing out loud.
What I loved most was how this book not only offers a good chuckle but also provides validation and support. It’s like Shirley is sitting right there with you, acknowledging the madness of menopause while helping you navigate it with humor. There are puzzles, quizzes, and even some Shakespearean quotes thrown in for good measure (because why not?). This book genuinely feels like a warm hug!
Plus, it’s packed with tips and guidance that make you feel like you aren’t alone in this journey. Perfect for anyone over 40, it’s an awesome gift idea too. Who wouldn't want a fun-filled escape that celebrates our shared experiences?
Overall, Color Me Menopausal is an engaging mix of humor and practicality. It’s written by someone who’s living through this phase herself, which makes the advice all the more relatable. So grab your colored pencils, take a deep breath, and dive into this delightful book. You’ll come out feeling lighter, brighter, and perhaps a little more equipped to handle whatever menopause throws your way!
