The story of a late elementary school child and her friend who learn the importance of responsibility and what it means to show and tell love.
Reading this with my daughter who is just getting to be big enough to enjoy longer books. This was a fun read for us, the story was sweet, and engaging enough to keep her attention and the illustrations are beautiful. Section with tips for parents and educators is always a welcome addition at the end of these books.
this book is really a good and inspiring book for kids . It also gives the moral lesson to kid, the pictures and the way it conveys the message very easily. it is very interesting and enjoyable book for kids.
Adorable and great little tool for teaching the importance of showing with actions!
I loved that the illustration style felt like animation you'd see on tv or in a movie!
I received an electronic ARC from Boys Town Press Publishing through NetGalley.
Holly learns a hard lesson about showing love. She and her friend work hard on their show and tell project and then head outside to play with the new bubble wands her mom left for them. After her friend leaves, they go back in the house and discover the kitchen is a mess. Holly scolds her cat but her mom asks her if she followed the directions and fed her. She makes up excuses so her mom uses this as a teaching moment about showing love not just telling someone. Readers will see what happens with these choices, and, hopefully, choose to show their love too. Brightly colored illustrations capture the emotions and action in this story. A terrific read together for families.
Wow, wow, wow!! I love this book (and I am SHOWING it by writing this review!)! Honestly, I kind of wish that I had this book when I was younger. I've never really seen a book with such a cohesive and rare, but still *wildly* important message. It is amazing that this book is for young readers, because it is good for this message to be taught early. Additionally, the message was clear and made so much sense. The author achieved this so flawlessly by including the full conversation between Holly and her mom. Holly's mom hinted at showing love, but it was Holly who came to the realization that just simply saying "I love you" isn't enough to really let someone know that you love and care about them. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this book so, lastly, the illustrations were very colorful and beautiful, while still being very realistic in a way.
This book was absolutely amazing. Bravo!
Love! It's SHOW and Tell helps explain how actions are also an important way to show love to others. I liked that it gave age appropriate examples of how kids can show love, including random acts of kindness. The illustrations were cute and the cat, Aunt Gladys, brings some humor.
Thanks to Boys Town Press Publishing and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.
