This is one of those reads that gets you thinking deeply yet feels so approachable, like chatting with an clever friend. Hayes has an easy style that dives into big questions without being heavy or preachy. He touches on themes like personal responsibility, purpose, and what it really means to make a difference when things feel overwhelming or uncertain. The writing flows well and made me reflect, but it doesn’t feel like work—you’re just naturally drawn into considering your own actions and the impact you can have in everyday situations. If you’re someone who likes to think about how to bring a little more purpose to your life or make positive changes, you’ll probably find yourself nodding along and maybe even feeling inspired. This piece feels like a call to action, but one that respects your pace and perspective

This book explains a variety of careers in a simple way that children can understand. However, the explanations are also very informative, so this is a great balance. Many careers that are less commonly recognized are mentioned in this book, including STEM options.

This book over-explains what a child can do or be when they grow up. His attention to the descriptions didn’t last long. He loves to read, though.

Super cute book that explores various careers and what the people do in each career. I think that this is a good book for children to learn about things that adults do for work, and to expand their mind as they get older and think about things that they would like to do. The words fit the age range for the book and the illustrations are cute and well put together,

What Can I Do? would be a great resource for early elementary career exploration. It provides information and illustrations for a variety of careers and includes careers that aren't always mentioned; for example, being an entrepreneur or real estate agent. I liked that they people shown in the illustrations were diverse and not pigeon holed by gender stereotypes often associated with certain careers. This would be a great classroom resource!

Thanks to Mascot Kids and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.
