When I picked up *Bob the Robin* to read—and later listened to the audiobook—I didn’t expect it to have such an impact on me. I thought it would just be a book about a man and a bird, but I found something much deeper—a story about companionship, routine, and how small moments can change our lives. The relationship between Tony Putman and Bob reminded me of times when an animal—no matter how small—crossed my path and made me stop, observe, and feel a kind of connection that’s hard to explain. The way he describes the robin’s constant presence, how this little bird became part of his daily life, made me think about how nature is always there, even when we don’t notice it. What struck me most was the author’s honesty. He doesn’t romanticise everything; he simply tells it as it was. Bob wasn’t a pet, he wasn’t there to entertain or obey, yet there was still a bond. It made me reflect on the connections we form with the world around us, even when we expect nothing in return. Listening to the audiobook added another layer to the experience. Hearing the story in the author’s own words made it feel even more personal, as if he were sharing these memories directly with me. The photographs in the book make everything feel even more real. This isn’t just a story—it’s a piece of the author’s life that he chose to share. And I’m grateful to have experienced it in both formats.

cute little story, well its quite famous but i had never come across the robin before. I looked them up after i finished the book. Kind, thoughtful and a very gentle book revolving around the joy of nature. I can see how comforting it must have been to stumble into this story and then to write about it. Thank you #NetGalley for the audiobook to review.

This book perfectly sums up the effect nature can have on us. How when we are at our lowest the connection we make can make life seem that much brighter and that was certainly the case for Tony Putman, Bob and the other robins he made friends with.
Such a heart warming cozy read and perfect for winter.
I loved every minute of this book & have now followed his social media to see updates on any other birds Tony might meet. My thanks go to the publishers, author & NetGalley in providing a audio copy of this book in return for a honest review.
