Vol. 3 delivers more backstory to this world. People are being taxed to breathe. The taxes are increasing. Many spend 1/3 of their income to breathe. Basic living is harder, and expenses are increasing. "Unwanted" children are paraded in front of the rich to be selected for transflorication to later be turned into furniture. There is a commonality with the Spiniflor's victims- extreme wealth. The spiniflor is from a seed the hospital does not use because the breed is extremely intrusive. We don't learn who performed the process, but we do learn the motive.

The introduction of new ethical concerns and enough plot twists keep this series at the top of must-read new manga.
