I absolutely loved Letters to a Monster! It’s a brilliant and fun way to introduce children to the concept of letter writing. My 6-year-old was completely captivated by the story, especially the hilarious and creative ways the monster sent letters back to Sophie. Each letter was unique, and the different methods of communication kept us laughing and engaged throughout the book.
The illustrations are vibrant and full of character, adding an extra layer of charm to the story. It’s a perfect blend of humour and learning, and my child is now inspired to write letters of their own! Letters to a Monster is a wonderful introduction to letter writing and a must-read for young readers.
Thank you to net galley for allowing me to review this book. It was thoroughly enjoyed and I have put it on our wish list!

Alex (6) and I really enjoyed reading this story about a little girl called Sophie who decides to write a letter to the monster under her bed, telling him to leave.
And so ensues a funny and heartwarming series of letters culminating in a little twist.
The author conveys the personalities of Sophie and the Monster neatly, and we both really liked the way the story was structured.
The illustrations are beautiful, with lots of detail and a warm pink/yellow/blue colour palette. We especially liked the texture of the Monster’s ‘writing paper’!
Our only criticism would be that Alex found the typeface used for the Monster’s letters quite hard to read.
Thank you NetGalley and Bloomsbury Publishing for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are our own.

A monster under your bed! Who could sleep then? Luckily, Sophie knows what to do, she sends the monster a note! Because if she threatens The Monster Police, the monster will go away? Right?
But then Sophie gets a note back, apparently she is not the only one who is scared! And so Sophie and the monster start sending letters to each other.
A wonderful story with beautiful drawings! Every detail seems to be in place in the monster's world. And does he now write his letters on WC paper?
Ideal as a read-aloud story or to read together!
This is an ARC ebook thanks to netgalley

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. We really liked the developing relationship with the monster under the bed. We liked the fact he was writing on toilet paper; which she found very funny. We really enjoyed the randomness of the adventures and actually hoped for more of this book with both Sophie and the monster going on adventures and potentially more friends under the bed. Would highly recommended

Five wonderful stars for a delightful story!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

The illustrations are great fun and beautiful.

Sophie can hear a monster under her bed so she writes him a letter and he replies, the two slowly become friends through his wondrous stories of adventure, but there’s still a gorilla he insists is hiding under her bed.
I absolutely loved this what a perfect book for young children, many children are scared of monsters lurking within their bedrooms and this helps to take away the scariness of that and replace it with wonder and magic, kindness and friendship. The author did such an incredible job capturing everything from Sophie’s dislike of him to her growth of being friends throughout the letters with him.
The illustrations were just stunning to look at on each page, so much detail and the way the letters were done were so genius using toilet roll as his form of letter paper was the most crazy and genius idea ever. I really loved looking at all the illustrations within this story.
I really enjoyed this from start to finish and it was so magical and exciting, monster has some amazing stories to tell. I liked their blooming relationship with each other, it was so sweet. A book I would highly recommend, it’s a great before bedtime book.

In this charming story, Sophie is worried about the monster under her bed. So, she decides to write him a letter and warn him to clear out before she has to get higher authorities involved in his removal.
As the missives begin to fly fast and furious between the two of them though, Sophie does begin to wonder if the creature under the bed is in fact quite what she thought it was...
This is a delightful picture book that uses nicely-done illustrations and an epistolatory style to deliver a memorable story. Highly recommended.

This is fresh book on fears of monsters, which has a funny twist and the book keeps the reader engaged all the way.
Not to mention, the artwork is a great match.

A classic set up, we all know there was a monster under the bed growing up (if only our parents believed us!)
The story and the illustrations are both wonderful and I really enjoyed the look of the 'monster'. The letter format, font choices, lay0ut and pacing of the back and forth was inspired.
I didn't know where the story was going to go and was pleasantly surprised by the twist at the end!
