As always The maid stories always provide an enjoyable read. I particularly enjoyed book 3 which really leant into Molly’s grans back story..
A recommended read if you enjoyed books one and two.

I love how the book goes into the past, nita prose has done it again. Very clever book. Probably my favourite out of all 3

Prequel and a sequel within one book.
Flora’s diary reminded me of the butler’s story in The Remains of the Day.
I became more invested in Flora’s story as I read, finding Molly’s return welcome and complementing her Gran’s narrative, with the identity of the Fabergé thief not too hard to determine. Having said that, I really enjoyed this novel. It’s not as much as a mystery/whodunnit, but rather an endearing conclusion of the Grays’ story. I appreciated “The Black Hole” reference to the first book and the huevo from the second becoming central in this instalment. In the end, I’m not sure which storyline I liked more, Molly’s or Flora’s. The final scene made me cry. Thank you for the opportunity to read it now, a truly wonderful Christmas gift and experience.

WOW!!!!! Hooked from the first page and read this book in one sitting… Full of tension and suspense. A real page turner, a domestic noir but OMG so much more!!!!!

I'd admit to always being more in the Millie the maid camp rather than Molly's but was very intrigued as to what would happen next in this series. I think once you realise this is always going to be a cosy light-hearted mystery rather than an edge-of-your-seat thriller you enjoy it more!
It was nice to read more about Molly's Gran's back story and there was a very sweet little love story, the actual mystery did keep me reading and the reveal was surprising although don't expect any huge twists or turns!
Overall a nice cosy palette cleanser of a book to warm your heart ❤️
(but now for something with a bit more murder!)

I love Molly but hate flashbacks - 3.5*

Disclaimer - I don't enjoy flashbacks. These flashbacks are integral to the plot but to be honest, I don't enjoy them as a plot device and that's why my rating is a lot lower.

I love Molly the Maid, Juan and Mr Snow. I really wanted to read this novel because I love the characters. Despite my hatred of flashbacks, I still flew through this book to understand how my poor Molly was dealing with the cards that life had dealt with her.

Molly is back in another adventure, just when she thinks her life should be settling down, another mystery involving her much missed gran arrives for her to clear up.

I very much enjoyed the first two books in this series, but found this one did not engage me as much. The baddies are so caricaturist that they ought to have twirly moustaches & ominous music every time they enter the story. The storyline felt muddled, with too many characters (particularly in the hotel sequences), and the whole gran diary story felt contrived & clunky.

I’m sure Molly’s legions of fans will love seeing how she’s getting on, but this one just wasn’t for me.

I’m not really a cosy crime fan. I prefer something more visceral! But Molly has captured a little bit of my heart and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to read an early copy of The Maid’s Secret, With each outing, the reader learns a little more about Molly and her gran and in many ways, the crime element of the story is merely a vehicle to explore these two rather exceptional and unusual individuals.

The focus here is a Faberegé egg. It’s stolen and Molly investigates the theft in her own inimitable way. There’s a dual timeline as past events are revealed in grandmother Flora’s diary and I found this the most intriguing part. The characters are so well depicted. I bought in to Molly’s charm and innocence right at the start. Her quirky view of the world and literal understanding of every situation is refreshing and there’s real insight into a character I’ve come to know and love. That takes incredible skill as an author; the power of words on paper has made me believe in the Regal Hotel, Molly and all that goes on there. I feel I could walk in and be familiar with the place and people. Needless to say,, for me this story is superb. Clever, heartwarming and just utterly enjoyable. Thank you.

I am grateful to the publisher and Netgalley for a review copy of this, the third in the Molly the Maid series, but I am afraid I did not enjoy it as much as the previous two.

It is another mystery to solve for Molly as well as an interspersed diary of her grandmother which links to the mystery. There are some delightful and amusing moments, as in the other two books, but overall I found it a bit dull. The grandmother's diary stretches belief just a bit too far, even in a series that clearly isn't meant to be realism, and the plot feels weak.

I do hope that the author doesn't keep trying to drag the series on with weaker novels as the first two really are a treat.

I’ve enjoyed all the Molly books. Largely because Molly is such a captivating lovable character who I can’t help but root for.

I did have mixed feelings about this instalment. It was great to get more insight into the characters’ backgrounds through Gran’s diary. But, for most of the book I found the two timelines a bit jarring. It disrupted the flow for me. However, towards the end I could totally see why it was done that way. It brought together the present day mystery as well as revealing Gran’s story.

I will say the mystery in this one wasn’t the most captivating for me, a lot of it felt quite predictable and it wasn’t much of a surprise who was behind it. That being said, it was ultimately a fitting and satisfying end for Molly. It worked out in the best possible way for her and Juan and that really made me smile!

Probably a 3.5 for me.

‘The Maid’s Secret’ by Nita Prose is the third full-length novel in the wonderful series starring Molly the Maid, and takes place after the wonderful events of ‘The Mistletoe Mystery’ - a novella in which Molly and boyfriend Juan get engaged! Everything is going swimmingly until a TV antiques show decides to film an episode at the Regency Grand Hotel… Soon, Molly is catapulted into the public consciousness as the quirky owner of a priceless Fabergé egg. However, all that glitters is not gold, and revelations about the past are the emotional heart of the story.

I really loved the glimpses into the young life of Molly’s gran Flora, via her diary, and adore Molly more now I understand better her family history. Honestly, I could have read a whole book just on that, but the author skilfully interweaves passages of Flora’s reminisces with the present day commotion.

While the central mystery was slow burning, the witty writing and the desire to see some characters get their comeuppance made the novel totally gripping… I took a few days to finish it, but 100% claiming pre-Christmas busy-ness rather than the book.

Overall, this cosiest of crimes wins five stars from me!

I have loved reading Molly the Maid's series. I love how quirky she is. This book was amazing, it was great to learn more about Molly's gran. I just hope we hear more from Molly! Thank you for letting me read this early!

This is absolutely delightful to read. The series has moved on. Molly has a change in fortune and we learn about her Gran's life. I liked all the drama. In all an enjoyable and satisfying read.

It was nice to be back in the company of Molly the Maid in the third instalment by Nita Prose, "The Maid's Secret". I still maintain the first book is the strongest but these book are full of joyous characters and Molly gets to do a bit of sleuthing, and this time we find out more about her Gran, who has sadly passed away. Very much a cosy crime book.

What a fabulous return to The Regency Grand Hotel! The Maids Secret was just the perfect blend of humour and mystery (It is definitely full of its share of heartwarming and sad moments too - i may have cried at one point)

I loved both books in the Molly The Maid series and i loved this one even more! It was so interesting to read about Floras early life and her fall from wealth. It was also heartbreaking to read her love story with John, they deserved so much better and my heart broke for them.

I'll start my review by saying I'm completely biased, I'm a huge fan of Nita Prose's work and she can do no wrong in my eyes. I still remember reading the ARC for The Maid back in summer 2021; life was bleak then and her writing put a huge smile on my face. I can't believe it's only been two years since The Maid was published in 2022, Nita Prose's already a household name who's sold millions of copies... wild!

The Maid's Secret is a fantastic novel which can be read both as part of the series or as a standalone book. Published by HarperCollins UK, this is the third installment in the beloved Maid Series, following The Maid and The Mystery Guest. This latest book continues the story of Molly Gray, Head Maid and Special Events Manager of the Regency Grand Hotel. As Molly prepares for her wedding, an old trinket from her collection is revealed to be a priceless artifact in the TV show Hidden Treasures, and she becomes a media sensation. But on auction day, the artifact vanishes!!

Wow! I have liked the first two instalments in this series but this book blows them out of the water. This book has a different feel to it, without spoiling it, the plot is quite different to the first two and as a result the book has a different feel to it, one that I loved I must say. Throughout this book we learn so much more about Molly and her gran, I already loved these characters but having read this, I love them even more.
The plot is captivating, still exciting and Prose manages to sprinkle some twists along the way. I laughed and loved during this read and can only hope for more from Molly the Maid.

In the third instalment of Molly the Maid we are faced with the theft of a family heirloom that takes us through a dual timeline of events culminating in the present day. While this was very well executed, I feel as though, as a reader of the series, we are getting into the points whereby the author is “dragging it out” and actually finished this book hoping that the author decides to leave the series as a trilogy. I feel as though everything from the previous two books was wrapped up nicely in this third instalment.
