This book was a little gem.
Heartbreak in the present and in the 1940s told by different women.
Lots of history of Jersey which I loved and a cozy love story.
A gentle tale of Bella, who leaves a bad marriage to spend time with her great aunt Celestine on Jersey, She didn't know much about Celestine before moving there and now thanks to Rory, who is on the island looking for information about his own family, she learns more. Tennant wraps in family secrets with romance-and there's good atmospherics. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This was a good read on a very cold day!
Very cute book about Bella, fleeing a bad marriage moving to Jersey to help her elderly aunt run a flower stall when she falls and gets injured. Along the way she meets Rory, who’s travelled to the island in search of his long lost family. As she agrees to help him and explore the island together, they gradually fall for each other. Per usually there a. 3rd act breakup, but a satisfying ending.
The Little Island Flower Stall by Tilly Tennant is a heartwarming and uplifting story set on a picturesque island that feels like a breath of fresh air. With lovable characters, a touch of romance, and a beautiful setting, the book explores themes of starting over, healing, and finding joy in unexpected places. Tennant’s engaging writing and vivid descriptions make it easy to lose yourself in this feel-good tale. Perfect for fans of cozy, escapist reads.
This was an enjoyable book with likable characters.
The location sounds really nice and somewhere you might want to visit. I don’t think I was quite ready for the book to end. I do think it ended kinda quick.
Probably my favourite of her books that I've read so far. Easy to read, likeable characters and a lovely setting.
I really enjoyed this book. Likeable characters and easy to read. .
Particularly liked the violette storyline alongside the usual romance narrative.
The Little Island Flower Stall is a sweet, cozy story set on a beautiful island. Bella has finally left her cheating husband and has gone to Jersey to help her great aunt run her flower stall. While there, she finds a new purpose for her life and happiness she never expected.
The characters were fun, emotional, and well developed. I loved the plot, and the side story of what the island went through during the war. My only complaint was I wish the ending had been a little more developed. It seemed a bit abrupt.
Overall a wonderful read.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
“Life’s too short to hold grudges.
Bella, having left her cheating husband, returns to her parents’ home seeking comfort during this devastating time. However, her plans are quickly upended when her father informs her that her great-aunt Celestine has fallen. Taking advantage of the situation, Bella volunteers to take over running the flower stall while her aunt recovers. This unexpected opportunity provides Bella with the time she needs to regain her footing.
Beyond her personal struggles, Bella’s visit to her great-aunt Celestine presents a chance for reconnection. At 94 years old, Celestine has been a distant figure in Bella’s adult life, and this visit offers a rare opportunity to strengthen their bond.
While busy at the flower stand, Bella’s gaze is captured by a customer named Rory. This unexpected encounter sets the stage for a slow-burning love story. Bella is intrigued by Rory, but she struggles to comprehend her feelings. Meanwhile, she discovers that Rory is in town searching for information about a past event that occurred during a war in Jersey, the place where he and Bella are currently visiting.
This delightfully cozy story ticks all the right boxes. It features a gentle romance blossoming, a captivating mystery to unravel, and, of course, a second chance at life.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC.
This is the perfect “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade” kind of feel-good page-turner. I loved it!
Bella discovers that her husband of 15 years is a cheater and decides to leave him for good. This is her journey to self-discovery, and you’ll find yourself rooting for her heart and soul to heal.
At the same time, her 93-year-old great-aunt suffers an injury and needs help keeping her seaside flower stall running, so Bella jumps at the opportunity. With the life-wisdom and loving support of her great-aunt, Bella finds herself standing tall very soon.
I loved the historic background and discovering the island’s fight to defeat the Nazis that invaded their land. It adds to the typical rom-com and wraps it in a light mystery that I was completely grateful for. I must say that I like learning something new from each book I read, and this tale delivered.
The writing is warm and well-paced. The descriptions of the seaside setting will make you want to pack your bags and visit this island!
Good job, Tilly Tennant!
Bella escapes to her aunt celeline's seaside home, after she finds out her husband is cheating on her. her aunt runs a flower stall by the sea. Lovely story
didn’t really enjoy the book. It felt a lot of it dragged on and then the ending just seemed completely rushed??
Escape to a colourful little flower stall on the island of Jersey with its sweeping golden beaches. The perfect place for Bella to discover that a heartbreaking family secret might just help her find a new beginning...This is a cozy quick read...a fun read. Curl up in a comfy chair with a warm afghan, a cup of steaming tea, a delicious scone and enjoy...family and friends....
I definitely have a soft spot for books
set in Jersey or Guernsey
This lovely, heart-warming book was
another winner!
The story begins with Bella leaving her
serial cheating husband - and thank
goodness she did - not sure what she
saw in him to begin with!
I enjoyed the rekindling of the
relationship between Bella and her
feisty 94 year old Great Aunt Celestine.
it was also nice that Bella could repay
Celestines unwavering support by
helping her with the long kept angst she
held over something she did as a
teenager.
Rory's story added a touch of mystery
whilst also reflecting the terrible war
times in Jersey.
An enjoyable read -I really look forward
to reading more of Tillys books!
Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from Netgalley. This was an enjoyable read. I enjoy Tilly Tennant's books and this did not disappoint. She created an engaging, likeable, and realistic cast of characters and the Jersey setting was a nice change from the usual London / Cornwall often seen in this genre. Tennant weaved heart and humour into the story, creating a moving story which I was invested in thoroughly.
Bella decides to leave her cheating husband and go help her great aunt in Jersey while she gets back on her feet at her flower stall.
Rory has come jersey looking for his family after his devorce .
He bumps into Bella at the flower stall and asks for her help in looking for his family.
A lovely story set in Jersey. I enjoyed reading about all the places in Jersey as I went there years ago. The ending was a little sad but I was expecting it. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
This book was lovely and heartwarming. At times, it served as a cozy mystery, which added to the plot. I also liked how the romance between Bella and Rory was ambiguous and kept the reader invested in their love story. I liked the relationship between Bella and her great-aunt Celestine and how they were able to bridge the gap between generations to work through both of their traumas. This book was good from beginning to end and I can't wait to read more from this author.
This was a lovely read. I loved learning about Jersey and its history. Seeing Bella try to turn her life around after leaving her husband and rediscovering her relationship with her great aunt was really nice. Celestine was a great woman, so active and feisty.
Discovering Rory and his connection to Jersey was fascinating, and I enjoyed getting a glimpse into what life was like when the island was occupied during the war.
It was a really great read and my heart went out to Bella and her family after finding Celestine, but I liked how things turned out for her, island life really agrees with her.
A really great feel good read, some great characters that have lived such interesting lives.
This was such a beautiful poignant read and am hoping this is the start of a new series for this author who is one of my favourites. I loved the characters and the community feel and storyline and the descriptions of the setting. Reading this has made me want to visit jersey.
