Blue Dragonfly by Joseph Bingham is a poignant exploration of the complexities of human relationships, identity, and self-discovery. The novel's title, Blue Dragonfly, symbolizes the delicate balance between beauty and fragility, serving as a metaphor for the protagonist's quest for meaning in a world that often feels overwhelming and uncertain. The dragonfly, with its ability to adapt to both water and air, mirrors the character’s own struggles with change and personal growth.
Bingham's writing is lyrical and evocative, capturing the nuances of the human experience with sensitivity and depth. His characters are richly drawn, with relatable motivations and struggles, making it easy for readers to connect with their inner turmoil and triumphs. The story unfolds in a nonlinear fashion, which at times can be challenging, but ultimately reinforces the theme of life’s unpredictability and the need to embrace change.
The novel is also deeply introspective, offering moments of quiet reflection as the protagonist grapples with questions of purpose, relationships, and the passage of time. While there are moments of darkness, Bingham does not shy away from offering hope, showing that even in the face of adversity, there is potential for renewal and transformation.
Overall, Blue Dragonfly is a beautifully crafted novel that delves into the essence of what it means to live authentically. Bingham’s masterful storytelling, coupled with his exploration of profound themes, makes this a compelling read for those seeking a thoughtful and reflective literary experience.
It's beautifully written with a dual POV immersive style with adorable characters Pedi a shy boy more comfortable talking to animals that humans and Adaci a brave rebellious adopted girl.
The alternance between both POV really allowed for a deep connection with the characters despite their differences.
The magic in this world is fairly unique, visions that shape characters fates' and the ability to connect with animals. it is perfectly integrated within the general plot and the worldbuiling ties it all together perfectly. It is a story of adventure and discovery rediscovering ancient nations and their forgotten powers
Would definitely like to read more books like this one.
A captivating and action-packed tale with two distinct, yet deeply relatable protagonists—an adventurous, rebellious girl and a quiet, yet fiercely brave boy. The alternating points of view between these two characters allowed me to really connect with their unique journeys, and I found myself rooting for them both from the very first pages.
The worldbuilding is one of the book’s strongest features. It introduces a fascinating history of ancient civilizations with mysterious powers, especially the ability to connect with animals and see visions that shape the characters' fates. The depth of this world added so much richness to the plot and made the stakes feel incredibly high.
Though I would have loved a bit more vividness in the descriptions, especially when it comes to setting the mood and atmosphere, I was still drawn in by the intensity of the plot. The twists and turns kept me on my toes, and I found myself completely absorbed in the unfolding story.
This book has left me eager for more in this genre—I'm always on the lookout for immersive worlds, compelling characters, and stories that pull you in and don't let go.

This uses the fantasy element perfectly to tell the story, I enjoyed the idea that it was a collection of lost survivors. The plot of the book worked well to tell the story and world. I wanted to read more in this universe and enjoyed how good Joseph Bingham wrote this.

Beautiful story with dual POW of a brave rebellious girl and a shy boy with a heart as fierce.
The plot was full of events from the first chapters and became more and more interesting further.
I loved the unique worldbuilding immersing us into an amazing thoughtful history of ancient nations, their powers of visions and connection with animals coming through generations to our main characters.
The writing style lacked the colourfulness of describtions just a bit. It would have helped to feel the atmosphere better.
Anyway, the characters have my heart and the intense plot absorbes by it's turnes.
